Yeah I have. I actually like iRacing a lot because it's simple, and racing where if you die in the game you die in real life is so much more engaging than racing against the AI. I got the 3 months for $5 about a month ago. I don't have a lot of time to play iRacing as it's massively time consuming, so I don't have much "wheel time" or whatever you want to call it. I got out of rookies last weekend after 3 races and 2 time trials. My enthusiasm quickly hit a brick pay wall though when I noticed that I needed to buy either a 10 dollar car or 15 dollar track to do anything new. I'm not sure if I'll renew when time runs out because I have a hard time keeping up with the series. [vid]http://a.pomf.se/jftfcd.webm[/vid] fuck this track im not throwing away anymore SR on it
It is possible to skip a lot of stuff. I kept driving in rookies when I had my D license and ranked up enough to reach C class, so I never bought any D class content. If you reach D 4.0 then you can do a C class race or two and be promoted on the spot.
I'm not sure I want to skip a lot of stuff. Honestly I don't know what I want to do. Initially I wanted to get into GT3 as soon as possible but I don't care so much about that anymore as long as the racing is fun. Plus GT3 is expensive because of all the cars/tracks I'll need to buy. At least with SSCA I can race for free. Sometimes. I started using the Spec Racer Ford which is at Laguna Seca now. It's probably my favorite track and the one I have the most experience on. I had a lot of trouble with it at first but after lowering the tire pressure to 22F/21R and adjusted my driving style. After about 2 hours last night of practice, I'm now having a ton of fun learning and driving the car. It's amazingly squirrely and kind of unbalanced. Very punishing and will most definitely get you to drive differently, but very rewarding. I hear that this car will make you a much better driver in general and I believe it. Turn 10 drives me crazy. I'll need to experiment more tonight, but I have no idea how people can take this turn so quickly. If I go any faster I spin out. When these cars are driven well they look so incredibly easy, but it's a lot of work keeping them under control. The Miata gave me a lot of bad habits that just don't fly in the Spec Racer Ford. I managed to get +0.60 in a single session and it's what pushed me to the safety rating and D class I have now.
but SR's based on corners per incident and apparently you earn less in TT events, it will take a lot longer to earn SR in oval TT's. i was thinking of waiting until charlotte was the official event again it seems a lot less incident prone plus the track is wider so if people do fuck up its easier to dodge them [editline]2nd June 2015[/editline] for gt3 you dont need all the cars just the one you want to drive same with the tracks really unless you want to do the full season this goes for all classes

We really need a proper simracing thread.
How do we get the free trial of iRacing without paying?
How do we get the free trial of iRacing without paying?
PR-BLANCPAIN2015 is the code.
it's such a pile of shit. i hope my brother is able to get a refund.
It's a shame so many of these survival games release before they're ready to. I love the genre but tons of these EA games needed to cook for at least another 6 months before getting put out to the public. So far the only ones I've been happy with, either because the devs update regularly, they have a decent amount of content, or both, are Subnautica, The Forest, and Savage Lands.
It's a shame 99% of its content is blocked by an expensive paywall. Unless it changed recently?
No, but i've put some money into it now just because i've always been curious. It's really quite enjoyable, but a slippery slope of you wanting another stupid expensive thing. All the negative reviews on steam are in reaction to the business model, which I think is unfair for the game itself but they really threw people off by calling it "free to play". It's a really great game at its core, and honestly it's way cheaper than EVE Online and the like. You can spend $15 and get 3 months of membership and a shotgun that can take every animal in the game. Then after that it's $10 every 3 months if you want to keep playing. However a long while back they made it so that you have access to every reserve for free. It's a very small game that's very pretty, I think it's worth downloading just to spend some time exploring the environments.
I'd rather they do the same thing they did for Primal. Buy the game for 20$ and that's it. No membership bullshit.
I'm cool with pay to win as long as I can slog through the XP myself as well. I even dumped some cash into clash of clans because it doesn't feel like it's ripping me off. If I want to wait i'll wait, if not i'll support the game I enjoy playing and not have to.
I'd rather they do the same thing they did for Primal. Buy the game for 20$ and that's it. No membership bullshit.
$20 is really shortselling the game with how many features there are, and while I'm sure most people feel the same way that you do, I think there's an argument to be made that the development studio wouldn't have any incentive to keep updating the game without the consistent money flow. It's a niche game. Most of the people who play it are Europeans who are interested in hunting but have to deal with higher barriers to entry than here in America.
The Hunter: Primal
bought the carburettor cup content for some light relief, its pretty intense you lift once per lap on the monza oval coming into T1 and then you hardly have to lift at all it might sound boring but your going 200mph the whole race and the track is narrow, bumpy and you lose a lot of grip going 2 or 3 wide if your not on the racing line [vid]https://d.maxfile.ro/kaxeeddlcd.webm[/vid] pomf is down how do you embed from other sites?
The Hunter: Primal
A few of the weapons in Primal they adapted straight to TheHunter as well, like the rifle you used in that video and a few of the shotguns.
How is The Hunter: Primal, these days? I didn't actually know it was part of that Hunter series when I first got it; I was expecting another survival game.
