Oh, so that's why there are so many jaggies on those screens. Weird choice of AA, but apparently the game is a bit... fucked up right now, apparently?
Oh, so that's why there are so many jaggies on those screens. Weird choice of AA, but apparently the game is a bit... fucked up right now, apparently?
A lot of stuff got fixed with the day 1 patch (for example, the game crashing instantly on pressing the instant replay button, telling your pit crew you wish to change to a certain compound of tyre and they give you a completely different one..) but there's still a lot wrong with it. It lacks a ton of features that were in the previous games and surely (due to it being the same engine) they could've been brought across, there's still some weird performance issues with certain car/track combinations, multiplayer simply doesn't work for 90% of people and when it does there's massive desync issues meaning you can think you're in 1st for the entire race but actually finish last I've spent like 20 hours on it so far and love it though, the only thing that's bothering me personally at the moment is the fact that damage is toned back a ton from other years, you can hit walls at mental speeds and not get a scratch. There has always been a really simple mod you can do yourself to tweak the damage variables but this year they've encrypted all the files so it looks like there's going to be no modding support at all which is a big shame [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] Also it's a shit experience on a wheel, force feedback is nearly non existent, pedals all have deadzones that you can't change, some wheels just straight up don't get recognized by the game

I'd assume that by now all of these games are DirectX11 to go along with the Xbox.
I thought deferred rendering and AA only didn't work if the game was DirectX9? I'd assume that by now all of these games are DirectX11 to go along with the Xbox.
Nah, it has to do with how deferred shading works.
(...) Due to separating the lighting stage from the geometric stage, hardware anti-aliasing does not produce correct results anymore since interpolated subsamples would result in nonsensical position, normal, and tangent attributes. One of the usual techniques to overcome this limitation is using edge detection on the final image and then applying blur over the edges, however recently more advanced post-process edge-smoothing techniques have been developed. I still have no idea what game that actually is. It would help if everyone wouldn't refer to the game they're talking about with an acronym that could mean anything.

I still think S.T.A.L.K.E.R has some of the prettiest volumetric lighting in any game to date.
I still think S.T.A.L.K.E.R has some of the prettiest volumetric lighting in any game to date.
That's because it uses actual volumetric lighting, and not the post-process kind which only takes into account screen-space stuff. I believe Fallout 4 will be using the STALKER kind. Crysis 1 has support for and uses the proper volume light in some indoor areas of the game, but mainly does the post-process kind. The Metro series also has proper volumetric light.

I couldn't carry it so i figured i'd leave it and come back for it once i dump some shit. But nope, nope. As i get to the bar's entrance again, i notice this duty dude just walking down the steps. I go up, and my G36 is gone. All the other guns they dropped are still there, but not the G36. So I kill him to confirm my suspicions. And you guessed it - [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/704035934627371198/37D65A75243084981C1695D8DA70883D503EBAC6/[/t] But of course this is the bar, and in STALKER the bar is controlled by Duty - so I literally get swarmed and die 2 sec later. I can't trade for it, I can't kill him. Duty is my new enemy.
Does this count? [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/449582555678357458/7671A5C0D929F12770165F23125DF502771AF35F/[/t] [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/449582555678343232/4D385932B0BAB0105CD7B18D67524757EBB9619A/[/t] Space Engine
