Kholat
Game is inspired by the Dyatlov Pass Incident. A "walking sim", but it's still quite interesting.

I got Kholat early and it turned from a promising story walking game to a horror game, but more boring.
All though I prefer the first encounter, TSE has some great little easter eggs.

If you seriously don't know the game it's Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter.
Also ignore the cheats enabled thing. I was playing around with noclip.
I'm working on a mod for F.E.A.R and i'm not very talented at it.
That being said the game is still impressive to this day. Even the tools are somewhat enjoyable to mess with.
Can't tell what happened in 10 years, but damn, things went to fucking shit.

I really should play this. I just don't like the jumpscares.

I remember playing the demo of FEAR ages ago, it was some map where you had to navigate some sewers. Ghost walks past the screen, I literally scream and turn off the computer. Never played FEAR since, but it looks fucking amazing

Well i was spooked to death by FEAR when it first came out, too. But we're talking about 2005. I was like 15.
Now i just empty my shotgun into every apparition of Alma with a mixture of disgust and mild anger. Damn i wish i was young again.
FEAR still spooks me to this day.

I wish I could go back to getting spooked like that.
I remember playing Blue Shift, and that scene in the elevator where you see the first vortigaunt made me almost shit my pants and hard-reset my computer.
By hard-reset I mean smash it with my foot until the screen goes black.
I'm still scared of FEAR but only because the things that scare me the most is the subtle moments that you might not notice. I last noped out of it when I caught Alma staring at me from the floor above in a location I didn't even need to go to. I could have completely missed it but the sense that I'm always being watched really got to me
I get startled to death even nowdays in FEAR, after replaying it for a bajilion times, but not on the horror sequences or anything, but because of the AI, they still manages to surprise me out of an unpredicted corner or when catch me off guard.
The spookiest in FEAR are the physics props I always accidently knock over.
Personally I didn't think FEAR was necessarily that scary, just good at making me realize how damned quiet a lot of the levels were-- quite often you're alone with just your footsteps and the sound of some kind of squeaky gear off in the distance.
Games don't do that kind of dead silence often enough, it can ramp up tension in a surprisingly organic matter.

That being said, Dead Space 1 is a masterpiece of oppressive sound design. There are so many scenes with straight up overwhelming and stressful noise going on and it works amazingly well.
Never again.

Hearing that reminds of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. When you finish saving Mole from that full on military raid with helicopters and enter Agroprom underground tunnels. The blaring of the helicopters silence and you're just suddenly by yourself in the quiet except for the one squeaky lamp rotating. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. have the best atmosphere in any games I've ever played. That's what really sets them apart for me, despite their shortcomings.
I think the one time that really got me while playing FEAR was one instance where you turn on a computer or something then turn around and Alma is just standing right behind you. FEAR over all is more creepy than outright scary but it certainly has its moments.
I remember being scared shitless of going into vents in FEAR. Because of that once scene when Alma does the gollum-walk towards you. Fuck that. That was many years ago though and nowadays I can play FEAR just fine and it's :incredible:

My favorite thing about stalker is how it just uses unsettling world design and then they drop the AI in the levels and rely on their abilities to scare you rather than scripting most of their appearances.

Game is Battlefield 4.
I followed up on the idea of playing the original Knights of the Old Republic after the remasterd The Sith Lords. So I loaded up the mods I needed (which are pretty rare to find nowadays) and I began the game

Do you have the retail version? It did the same for me with the retail version on Windows 7, then I got the Steam version through the humble bundle and it worked fine.
