I dont believe the detector
What I do like about the Frozen Zone project is that they are creating a lot of new assets - hopefully that will make the mod seem fresh.
I would love to play a STALKER and get the same feeling I got playing the games for the first time again!

Probably modified code from the advanced detector :v:

Hopefully it won't run like absolute horseshit.
dat fucking detector holy shit
New stash items.
Anomalous PM
This pistol appears to be heavily damaged - the sights are misaligned, the magazine is permanently stuck and the trigger doesn't function. After partially disassembling it some kind of organic growth can be seen covering all internal mechanisms. The growth refuses to be removed even with chemical agents and makes manually loading the weapon with a regular 9x18 cartridge impossible, but why would you want to anyway?
Anomalous 9x18
A regular 9x18 Makarov cartridge with a full metal jacket bullet and steel casing. Curiously enough gently applying some force to it reveals that it can be squeezed as if it was made of organic material rather than metals. Attempting to load the round into a conventional 9x18 firearm will render it inoperable until the round has been removed, but for some reason it appears like it could fit in places where regular 9x18 rounds can not.
[sp]Combining both and firing the round will lead to interesting results but the player will only get a single shot.[/sp]
BTW, why does the word "fashion" always come up when translated Russian with Google? Is it mis-translated the word "modification"?
Yeah, мод (mod) and мода (fashion) is rather similar words
I wish the Makarov wasn't considered the weakest pistol in STALKER, it's my favorite pistol. I once killed a chimera in TFW using just a Makarov :v:

Can I have it.
Also this less interesting one.

It's just a trivial binding of the explosive object.

I've been digging around in the SGM Lost Soul files a little, does anyone know where I can mess with the faction relations for the Alpha Squads? I'd like to make them to have fight a bit more instead of just hanging out with nothing attacking them. I don't think even mutants attack them by default, right?

gamedata\configs\creatures
Open the game_relations.ltx file.
All relations between all factions and groups are in there in the [communities_relations] section.
It should be easy to understand if you've never done it before. If not just ask and I'm sure one of us will guide you along. :v:
I wish I could still feel that kind of nervousness in the Zone. None of it really phases me anymore, though I'll give CoC credit for having some good enemy AI, as I've been ambushed pretty ingeniously by bloodsuckers before.
I feel like we just need some new mutants. Not the cut ones, just completely brand new ones or mutants drawn from the old concept art, like the horse one or the tree one. A lot of those were way creepier looking than what we've got now.

My personal favorite, I think they were actually in that STALKER online MMO that was around not too long ago:

There's just so much room in there to make really horrifying creatures, given the almost mystical nature of the Zone, but I've never seen any mods really take advantage of that. People merged together in the heat of radiation, or zombies half melted from a blowout, etc. We can get weird model rips for stalkers or guns but I don't think I've seen much more than the occasional Metro 2033 Librarian ported. Is it just really hard to make new non-human monsters? I want STALKER to actually *be* horror someday, instead of the usual "hurr durr bloodsuckers."
Yeah I would love to see new mutants or creatures be added in to the game. Having that tree creature stalk you at night in the Red Forest would be an interesting time indeed. I also agree that CoC has some damn good ambushes. I'm just breaching the perimeter of X-16 and I'm not very overjoyed about what's waiting for me in the dark depths below. Cheers CoC devs, you really know how to test the wits of even a veteran STALKER. :)
Merge news: The Reborn I got appears stable. The Reborn I got makes my eyes bleed. There's also a hell of a load of text to "fix". One particularly ridiculous example is this:
"PFM-1 used to be a standard-issue anti-personnel mine of the Red Army, employed mainly during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Its widespread utilization during the conflict led to high civilian casualties, especially among children, since randomly scattered mines were often mistaken for toys due to their familiar shape and color. For this reason, the PFM-1 earned a sinister nickname: "Child killer." Since then, the mine has been replaced by newer models. However, as was the case with a variety of other 'retired' weaponry, a large number of these mines has somehow made its way into the Zone, becoming its primary booby-trap explosive. The mine is highly valued mainly for its functionality, user-friendliness, compact size and low weight, while its main drawback is a relatively small amount of explosive material: its power is often insufficient to kill a heavily armored stalker with a single blast. For this reason, the mine should be used in combination with other explosive materials and it acts as an igniter. If it is not armed, the mine will not detonate, even when hit with a gun."
The first part's like straight from the Wikipedia article or something. Like seriously no.
"The PFM-1 mine is just another relic of the Soviet era that has made it into the Zone in large quantities. While it isn't exactly a popular item due to its limited usefulness and weak explosive charge, some stalkers value it for the ability to cripple lightly armored enemies and weaker mutants while others fancy using it as an early warning device when seeking shelter in dangerous territory.
A major selling point of the mine is the fact that it's very easy to use - even a rookie fresh out of the Cordon couldn't screw it up. Place the mine, remove the pin, and then make sure to get away from it within the next five seconds."
There, better.

personally I prefer the more factual, less fourth-wall breaking descriptions

So where abouts are all the latest Open Xray commits being made?
So where abouts are all the latest Open Xray commits being made?
All over the place. We at Radium have made our own branch which contains both updates from CoC as avoitishin and another guy's commits. I believe we're on par (engine wise) with CoC.
I can ask Swartz for some links if you're interested?

I was just wondering if there was actually an agreed, central repo so I could see if there was anything glaringly obvious that is missing and is easy enough for my lazy ass to commit to.

avoitishin's repo is the central one

In Avoitishin's absence only my repo seems to be the most public and actively supported version. My wiki (Changes and Build Instructions) is up-to-date for the working branch. Swartz makes a lot of custom Radium-specific changes and doesn't really publicly share it. Although it is used for Call of Chernobyl, I do try and keep most of the features behind build defines so that it is customizable as possible. Swartz usually merges in my changes but I have difficulty getting my hands on his source to include his stuff.
EDIT:
I did get a chance to look at Radium source. It's slightly different than my working branch of OXR. It mainly has minor renderer changes and big changes to weapons and ballistics which I won't include into OXR, plus it gives his mod reason to stand out.
so, somebody merged AO3, with CoC.

I believe he's referring to Undead on the Stalker general on /vg/.
New Shoker Video. What's up with GS these days!?

Honestly, I think Shoker overdoes the 'tacticool' a bit
They look like FPSBanana skins
To be completely honest I really like just having the option to slap a fuckton of shit onto a gun if you want, even if its stupid.
