Really struggling to find the tools in CoC. Any hints where I should be looking at?
there are two sets of tools in each area. basic and advanced in both yanov and zaton, while the tier 3 tools are only in pripyat. in yanov, trying to find the advanced tools is an electrifying experience while getting the basic tools, iirc, you'll be chased by an ogre. in zaton, there's some hungry hippos that want some food before you can get to the advanced tools while the basic tools are... i don't remember.

I'm talking about CoC.
Gunsmith tools you have a chance to get them from traders. Advanced gunsmith tools you have a chance to find them in stashes. There aren't any tier 3 tools as far as I know so if you want to get tier 3 upgrades, you have to get them from Forester in the Red Forest, although his services are expensive.

Lets hope old man won't lose his shit once he see me.
I've seen both gunsmith and advanced gunsmith tools at traders like Sid and barman. I saw a regular gunsmith toolkit in a stash but haven't come across advanced yet
Man, STCSWP is amazing. So many attachments for guns.
Oh man I wish there was a guide or some vehicles in COC. The world feels fucking huge.
Oh also why is the radius of the controller's effect so fucking huge? I had that happen to me in this same game in Cordon, past the checkpoint, I had the controller effect all the way up to the Garbage level transition.
There's a vanilla bug with controller effects staying active on the whole level even after death and reload. ZRP contains a fix that activates on death ("Please wait for the controller noise to fade" as a red death message, if you've seen it).
I'm playing AMK and it only happens once in a while, also seems that the radius is just huge instead of level-wide, for example in Cordon, I didn't get the effect until after the checkpoint and in Agroprom I got it from the start all the way to the underground entrance.
Playing as bandits in CoC is hard. I really wish guns didn't degrade so fast - that and partially used items are worthy of only "donations" I wonder if those donated bits actually increase faction strength or not.
ISOD3 looks very nice. They're remodelling all buildings :v: http://www.moddb.com/mods/in-spite-of-the-death/videos/isotd3-objects-demonstration
Well why not if they get more details from doing that
Anyone else experiencing frequent crashing? I doubt that I installed anything wrongly, as it is fairly straight forward. edit: fix'd, apparently dx10 mode is super crashy, avoid
Wait so CoC is out officially now? I assume 1.2 would be the official release by the actual team and not the leak?
Ok, now I'm having some uncomfortable questions for Alun and rest of CoC devs after playing a bit both leaked and released versions. 1. Mutant parts are dirt cheap. Even ecologists will pay you more for a pack of AK rounds than burer's hand. 2. AI lost a good bunch of his brains. Every firefight is about enemy standing still and shooting once in awhile. 3. Again about mutants. Bulletsponges even on master. Considering awful prices for their parts walking away is the best way to deal with them.
it would be nice if your faction had more of an impact on your starting gear and gameplay too, at the moment it feels pretty arbitrary. ecologists don't start with a detector to get artifacts, mercenaries don't have any better weapons, etc.

Unfortunately Dead City is a bit of a blunder to start in. It makes sense geographically but gameplay-wise Yantar forever invalidates southern access to other areas. The moment I go through the level change I die of psi emissions. Fortunately I raided the Bar and killed every Dutier in there with a broken AK because the AI literally stands around and lets you waste them. Got truckloads of ammo and a Vintar. Could be worse. I wouldn't mind some weapon merges though, my TRG longs to be in mercenary hands.
https://mega.nz/#F!UpIFQAaS!azP78S8xIqsmRoZV3BOHkg seems they have an OWR3 and a STCSWP (whatever the fuck mod that is) merge for the official release now EDIT: Okay from what i can tell STCSWP might as well be AO3 Also I'm disappointed they changed the menu, the old one from the leak/earlier build with bulletproof in the background was really cool
Okay, someone who has never installed CoC before. Do I download the offical release and this? Or just this merge?
If you actually clicked the link you would see it's a folder of files. Yesterday i tried to get CoC to work with some of the mods there (ofc by following the instructions step by step), but ended up reinstalling the game multiple times. Sometimes game refused to load at all. Sometimes crashed at menu, sometimes at first load of the game. In the end i installed clean CoC install and just went with it. AND EVEN THEN i got weird ui bugs with scopes/binoculars. Help?
I get a G36C. I install a 1.6x reflex sight. The sight zooms more than it did before. God damn it, merc technician. Could you not fuck this one mod up in your life? I'll go join the bandits, screw you.

I really like how items in CoC have multiple uses, it's nice.
I've been struggling to find things worth doing in CoC so far, decided to head as far north as I can with my FN-2000. What is there to do deep in Chernobyl? I can't find anything in the Monolith War Lab, and I can't interact with the "Unknown Anomaly" in Generators.
idk, CoC seems very much to be not for everyone. If you aren't into that freeplay "do whatever and see what kinds of things happen" or if you don't like to fill in the blanks it probably won't hold your interest very long, which is perfectly understandable. It reminds me of going off and doing side shit/role playing in daggerfall and since I kinda just want to play STALKER with SoC-type environments for cat-and-mouse firefights and dynamic shit and I'm sick of the main quests in the other games (and the side quests in CoP) it'll probably last me quite a while.
If CoC had faction warfare like TFW it would be amazing. And some way to fast travel.
Ray of Hope CoC Edition when? [editline]29th September 2015[/editline] No wait. Ray of Hope's Online, Wormwood's features and balancing, Gunslinger's weapons and animations, mixed into Call of Chernobyl's freeplay. Most likely will never happen, but I can dream.
I feel so mixed about fast travel, because sometimes I want it and it's good if you've been somewhere a million times but at the same time it completely negates the idea of packing shit for a long journey or the reason for having something all the way far north, which I really like when you get a sense of journey from actually travelling far somewhere. It just feels so trivial and gamey to me to click a button and transport 500 miles and skip everything in between and basically make it no different from going anywhere else and completely negates the hazards of traversing the more dangerous environments in between, but at the same time it prevents tedium from repetition which is why I'm not against it. That being said, I think with STALKER especially, a fast travel system like the world map movement in Fallout 1 and 2 would fit perfectly. Accelerate time passage, show a dot moving across the map, have random encounters that stop you to get into firefights or find NPCs/interesting events, and then resume until you reach your destination, (likely wounded). It's not perfect but I think it's better and would be less immersion breaking than what we currently got.
In AMK, if I put my shit in the blue stash in the bar, stalkers will help themselves to my stuff iirc, right?

There was never really a challenging quest, and now I'm not sure where I can go at this point for anything.
