Isn't Autumn Aurora 2 basically Misery for ShoC but without the bullshit? Hell most of the icons and textures are from misery and they ported over a lot of the items
It's the most polished SHoC Mod out by far. Currently my favourite too, if there's anyone here that's not tried it I highly recommend it.
I did enjoy my AA2 playthrough greatly (did the entire game with it again). Wish somebody would merge OWR 3 with it, as the weapons in that mod are much higher quality (and also more consistent in quality, only a handful of AA2 guns have spec maps, and the gun models/anims range from great to mediocre, which kinda takes away from it for me)
More CoC

Being able to visit SoC red forest (or radar rather) with CS's lighting is wonderful
I think the problem with Complete and Misery is that they're advertised EVERYWHERE and they overshadow other perfectly good mods. Or even worse, when there's a new mod released you get swarms of people asking "Does this work with Complete? Can I merge it with Misery?" etc
This last part annoys the crap out of me.
Most average players seem to have the idea that merging is just slamming mods together and be done with it, but it's often a rather more delicate surgical procedure; it can and will go horribly wrong repeatedly if you lack an extensive knowledge of all involved aspects, like with me and scripting.

It's okay babe, Freelurk is still my bae mod.

Sadly generation of Skyrim will never understand the hard part of Stalker modding.
Merging STALKER mods would be far easier if things were a bit more standardized as far as config files.
Right now modders love to move sections around and it makes merging things a bit of a fuckin' pain, like with weapon ltxes and gameplay xmls.
If things were slightly more modularized (for ex, splitting weapon LTXes into params, visual, and audio) it'd probably make life a lot easier for both players and modders :v:

Most ones i've had a look at keep the layout roughly the same as the vanilla files, anyway.

Not if they only contained the relevant lines and maintained the same layout. Right now, look at vanilla weapon LTXs. Sections tend to be moved about and transposed between files, and it even happens between mods.
Having the weapon ltxs seperated into multiple files would mean you could probably just overwrite one file for ex new animations and be done with it without the risk of other unwanted modifications like damage changes.

If someone really enjoys the game they're going to try other mods, though. You can't force those other mods down their throats if they don't want to play them anymore then they can make you play Complete.
Loner is the only one who's actually done anything productive to try and change that trend anyway, since there's so few vanilla+ style mods, and that's all new players seem to want.
But the problem is that other mods aren't being advertised at all. You can hardly find mention of any other mods outside of GSC, /sg/, and here.

I just can't see Vanilla+ making a difference as long as Complete is being shoved down people's throats.
How are you guys all getting those awesome weapons in CoC?
I've literally been looking for that mod everyone uses for days now but I can't find it.
[editline]7th October 2015[/editline]
Is it this one?

STCSWP I think? OWR3 is just a reskin afaik
Decided to play CoC as a monolith.
Wandered around, watched my fellow brain dead husks kill some mutants, killed some pesky scientists trying to get up in my land, poked some friendly zombies.
8/10 very chill experience.
STCSWP I think? OWR3 is just a reskin afaik
ive been using STCSWP off of this mega.nz
https://mega.nz/#F!UpIFQAaS!azP78S8xIqsmRoZV3BOHkg
its the most updated out of the 3 on there, STCSWP and AO3 seem to be very similar but STCSWP is the way to go right now for COC
[editline]7th October 2015[/editline]
modular scopes and shit, most weapons suppport 3-4 different optics, theres like 10 optics total between warsaw pact and nato weaponz
[editline]7th October 2015[/editline]
there is some crashing with removing the PSO-1 from some of the more unique WP weapons tho (AS VAL and 9A91 to be specific)
[editline]7th October 2015[/editline]

Playing CoC as a monolith is actually really fucking boring. Can't really do anything.

Play as a loner, but make sure you kill everyone.
That's my playstyle

Aren't you stuck to the upper part of the map too because of the brain scorcher or something like that?
Oh god damnit
Someone explain, I'm bad at this video.
Those are the animations for using medkits and anti-rad when you're wearing the exosuit. They're a lot faster than when you're wearing other suits, giving another benifit to wearing an exo.
[editline]7th October 2015[/editline]
also the silhouette of the suit on the display changes colours depending on its durability level
Aren't you stuck to the upper part of the map too because of the brain scorcher or something like that?
Monolith is immune to Brain Scorcher.
So right now you need to hoard ~60-70k rubles, stock up a few bottles of vodka and make a small trip to Monolith Control Center. There are 2 exos and one Bulat.
Pick one, go to Red Forest and upgrade everything at Forester.
Now you're ready to start your holy crusade all the way to the Swamps.
I started my initial Monolith crusade by bee-lining to Zaton and murdering everyone inside and around the scientist bunker.

Is there any minimalistic hud mods that work with AO3?

fucknig christ I got psi headset and almost full psi protection and I still fucking die in some places.
Can't say I like the health/stamina but I like the idea behind the compass
Yeah, CoC still has certain problems. Crap AI and fullbright has been fixed but stashes are still empty, labs are also empty but pretty sure that's a feature for modders as opposed to something they forgot, I still wish they'd at least add stuff to labs and let modders mod over it I suppose.
I don't think I've ever seen any mods that drastically changed labs so I don't think it'd be a problem and I don't want to have to wait on someone to mod monsters in labs/undergrounds.
The lack of missions also seems to be a slight problem, from what I've seen and read, certain factions literally give you the same kind of mission over and over again.
It doesn't have crap AI. Disable AI Die In Anomaly in gameplay tab of the options menu like the FAQ on Moddb suggests.
Not surprised casual players don't appreciate CoC for what it is. All those tools, OXR, debugging features, stable base on all the maps, etc. and all you guys see is a lack of content.
EDIT:
We would have liked to add more content but we already surpassed what we wanted to accomplish. We only worked on CoC when we had the drive to do it and that ambition is long gone now. You would be waiting longer for a release in either case. I know a few people who are using CoC as base, so you can expect good thing in the future.
Welcome to the modern gamer mentality :v:
I don't think it's necessarily the modern gamer mentality, but rather false expectations. I think when people hear about it as being a freeplay mod/modders resource they push the second part out and come up with these wild ideas about limitless content and a hand crafted experience like roaming the world in morrowind or something where everything has been deliberately placed, and not meeting those expectations is coloring peoples opinions.
It's dumb, but certainly not the fault of CoC team. I came in expecting "SoC freeplay mod with random quests and more maps" and I got exactly what I wanted.
