S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: "A Typical Day In The Zone"

Sweet I always thought that the Jupiter plant went pretty unused in Call of Pripyat.
I remember watching the trailer before getting the game and thought that it was going to be awesome fighting Burers in those tiny rooms, but then you only fight them in the tunnel and in that one building with the toolkit in Pripyat :v:
Here's my current artefact collection in CoC. I've been up and down the Zone several times to get all these.

I think all I'm missing now is Mica, Soul, and Urchin (?). Then the collection should be complete!

Nice. Since many complain about CoC not having much too do, it's always a good idea to create your own goals.
It'd be neat to have a Challenge List or just a 'Things to Do in CoC' list for the thread

Honestly for a mod that's barebones I have a ton of fun in CoC. Especially with a couple mini mods and a weapon mod I can play for literally hours, especially as a new faction.
I made it my goal as Monolith to eliminate the faction leaders, but I found that when I went to the Warehouses the bandits somehow wiped out everyone in Freedom besides Lukash, Skinflint, and Screw. And going through the Bar the first time I blew through everyone and shot down Petrenko and Barman as they were gunning for the Garbage. Funny how things work out.
Also why is Voronin not in CoC? I find it weird that the Duty bunker is completely empty.

There's some amusing easter eggs, too

MARKED ONE
So are there any weapon addons/reworks that work with CoC yet?
So are there any weapon addons/reworks that work with CoC?
Currently, there's OWR(official pack, probably maintained by the CoC team, kinda like updated graphics for existing firearms) and STCSWP(semi-updated with contributions from 4chan's /sg/, new guns, ammo types, armor, etc...), with AO3 being updated for CoC by the author himself (probably will be released before New Year).
Also, there's CoCMod 2.0 by some anon on /sg/, which basically turns STALKER into hardcore Battlefield (larger, 5-6 man squads, some HUD changes, more roaming squads). After I installed that mod, every time I pass by the Garbage train yard I have to join Duty and Loners to fight literally Platoons of Military, Bandits and Zombies while both sides are fending off Bloodsuckers and other monsters, with one time totaling at least 25 bodies from both sides, 2 bloodsuckers, around 10 Flesh and a Tuskano. (so if you play this mod, prepare to buy lots of backpacks if you are a hoarder.)

Another shot of just a small part of the new interior for the Workshops!
I'm going live now on www.twitch.tv/beacondev and streaming the creation of Yanov Station's new interior! Come check it out!
Has CoC gotten guides/fast travel yet?

Is there any chance of you porting these level additions to CoC? The CoP maps in CoC would love the attention.

New top-tier suit? Looks nice :v:
I'm expecting it to explode into a million skeleton parts.

---FURIOSO'S W.I.P. COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO HAVING A GOOD TIME IN CoC---
First, huge thanks to Alundaio and Team EPIC. I've been having a blast with this mod, and with this guide I hope to encourage others to do so as well.

Now that you have CoC installed and stabilized...
•Install one of the fat weapon mods. Diversity in weapons and weapon attachments makes for a more immersive experience. I'm sure everyone is tired of the same vanilla weapons anyway. Personally, I use STSCWP. Don't forget to install relevant fixes and tweaks, too.
--Here's a link to a repository of CoC stuff. If you're unsure what to download and what's compatible with what, check out the ReadMe's. If still in doubt, ask here, or on the STALKER general thread in /vg/
--There's a caveat here: CoC has been patched, but the addons and mods for it need to catch up to this patch. If you intend to play with addons, you'll have to use the release version. Which isn't too bad, since a lot of the changes made in the patch are applicable with individual fixes/tweaks in
__________________________________________________
•First and foremost, since this is a sandbox, use your imagination. CoC is perfect for STALKER RP. It is ALL up to you. Create your own backstory for the character you play, create their favorite loadout and gear, etc.
--I decided to play as Tamaska Tomcat, a fresh stalker seeking fortune in the lucrative artefact market. Gonna keep one of each for the collection back home in the big land and sell the excess.
--This is a very minor point, but if you're big on RP like me, you'll find that your character's name is strangely important. If you're stuck, you can always use the standard, random stalker naming scheme to create a name: Slav-esque Noun. Or even Adjective Slav-esque.
__________________________________________________
•Decide what your character wants to do in the Zone. This is the meat of your CoC experience. Hunting mutants and collecting artifacts is the usual fare, but this is a sandbox, so shoot for the stars if you so wish. Maybe your character has a vendetta against bandits or the military. Gear up, bring some companions with you and take their faction base down. Then haul their loot off to your own base! I'll list a few ideas here, from the basic, to the incidental, to the extraordinary. Mix and match to your heart's content.
--Disable the brain scorcher (you need to in order to get to certain parts of the Zone, unless you're Monolith, obviously.)
--Leave the brain scorcher on, and try to discover paths through or around the psi emissions (I actually don't know if this is possible, but it's an idea!)
--Form a group. Venture the zone with 1 or 2 companions and try to keep them alive throughout your playthrough. After all, who would Strelok be without Fang and Ghost? :)
--Collect all mutant parts.
--Collect all artifacts.
--Loot and destroy 'x' faction base.
--Find the wish granter and make a wish. Your wish will have some effect on the Zone. Explore the changes you've wrought to the Zone! If you're hardcore, continue playing the game like that doing the other stuff you wanted to do.
--Explore every area in the game. In particular, generators, limansk, and CNPP are interesting to explore, for the cool level design and fact that it was nigh impossible to really explore these areas outside of time/game constraints in SoC and CS. There's NO points of no return in CoC! You can travel up and down the zone freely without consequence as long as you've disabled the Brain Scorcher.
--Assassinate 'x' character. KILL STRELOK. (OK, so I don't think he's actually in CoC, but you can find his PDA!)
--Create a home base/stash. I enjoy finding and clearing out areas I like and setting them up as my hideout. You can create your own stashes in CoC, which makes this feasible. (Some decent spots: the second story farmhouse in the northern half of Cordon, the tower in Bar, the tower in the Army Warehouses village, the sawmill in Zaton, the massive digging machine in Yanov, Strelok's hideout in Agroprom Underground, an apartment in Dead City or Pripyat, the house in the middle of Darkscape, etc.)
--Create specific loadouts for venturing through certain parts of the Zone. Leave them in stashes after crossing those areas, so you can collect them back up and drop your other stuff off when you return.
--Play as a pacifist. Get to the wish granter without killing a single thing and wish for peace.
--Play as Monolith and orchestrate an invasion of the big land. Bring a bunch of Monolith with you and fight to the outer edge of the Zone. You "win" after crossing the military checkpoint in Cordon!
--Play as Military or Duty and get to the center to destroy the Zone.
--Play as an Ecologist or Clear Sky and observe/study the Zone. It can actually be rather interesting to watch the behavior of mutants out in the wild. I've seen some weird shit happen. Anomalies can be interesting to watch too, but since they cycle through the same thing every few seconds it gets rather dull. (On that note, no mod I've ever played has truly overhauled anomalies and the way that they work. Does anyone else think it's time for some changes? New anomalies?)
--Visit and clear out the labs and underground areas. Some of them are populated. Pretend to collect docs for patrons/superiors. (Would be nice if CoC had randomly placed documents that functioned similarly to the way that PDAs function. Where Owl and the Clear Sky trader purchase PDA data, Barman, Sakharov and Hermann/Nokivov should buy documents)
--Obtain the elusive Svarog artefact detector. This is actually rather rare if you aren't an ecologist. I looted mine from the corpse of a veteran/expert ecologist in Yantar.
I wish someone would make a general repo readme that just let you know what's compatible with what. I'm trying to wait until it all stabilizes out again since CoC got updated recently.
Anyone in here who's as nuts as I am when it comes to backstories / plot? I've dug up something that made me go Freedom, while I previously fancied Duty more. Old Freedom is badass, damn. Their intentions of stopping the military presence in the zone is admirable. Too bad most people tend to assosiate the old Freedom with the new, bandit infected pot-smoking mess it is now.
Anyway, who's up for writing or discussing ideas with me, let me know. I want to fill up some holes the games left behind in Vanilla+ as additional "spice", hence I want someone who also knows what fits and what doesnt. This goes hand in hand with the new Anomaly / Artefacts in the "extended" version. I also would like someone to make the weapon descriptions foolproof. I read wikipedia pages on ammo and I know of personal experience that I always need to double or triple check wikipedia.
Puris, sorry I didnt get back at ya. I quit my job yesterday so it was a ruckus(?), if thats the right word for saying "my boss didnt even wish me well or say goodbye". Ill upload the package for you first thing. Im also uploading my -almost- final V+ package. All thats left is blowouts as they were meant to be there in the first place, Koma's additional / refurbished sounds and some cool other features Burgious is willing to let me use. So for those with spare time, let me know by rating this post with anything if you'd like to get a link.
anyone have a linked to the most updated version of arsenal (or any mod that adds guns) to SHOC?

I'd be more than willing to write descriptions for your artefacts or some additional fluff for lore. I miss the system in SoC where you could discover stories and rumors by looting corpses, that kind of stuff makes the game so much better IMO.

Holy crap, I thought the same as soon as I saw it

Oh damn.

Yeah, it's always little things like that which really make the world. When you find a note on a guy's PDA, or an artifact with an interesting description, etc.
I'm trying to get back into CoC but theres so many fucking different addons and shit for it in the /sg/ repository
can someone recommend which ones to use and which ones not to?
I know OWR is probably your most stable bet. I'm not really up to date on any of the other things in there.

Thats absolutely awesome. I've been having a bit of trouble with the artefacts, mainly because inspiration on writin something fitting in the lore is hard to find. Ive done a few already, but those are imho not worth it to be part of the final product. How would you like to go at this? Do you need just the XML desc files or would you like the whole package? I havent yet sorted out their icons, but other than that, all of the 78 artefacts work.
Also, I miscounted, I've got 84 artefacts. ZRP has a few, too!
