Something about animations matching up with button presses for that extra little detail always get me.
goddamn that's amazing
This is great, but the more stuff they add like this the more I fear it will be incompatible with other mods, especially COC.
it's not going to be compatible with any mods that do any sort of real changes, unfortunately
First 4 seconds of the video posted above.
But is it a button press? I remember a while back they said it was only an idle animation because they couldn't get it to work as a new bind.
But who the hell am i kidding, that was a while back, and these guys are demigod russian wizards so they probably have that too.
does anybody know if there's a way to make essential NPCs invulnerable for joint pak 2?
who cares nerds
by the time gunslinger comes out you will be counting your lucky stars that any of these mods have come out and won't be counting how incompatible it is with any of the other mods that will be released when the worms feast upon your decomposing flesh

if gunslinger comes out before the end of the year ill smash my computer with a hammer just so i can keep being a cynical fuck

Lucky for your they're planing to finish it next year.

Honestly I wish that several modmakers could go together and do something with the source code and make some kind of module system for mods.
Honestly I wish that several modmakers could go together and do something with the source code and make some kind of module system for mods.
unfortunately that's pretty much impossible
unfortunately that's pretty much impossible
Why do you say that? If by keeping existing file structures then, yeah, it'd be difficult if not impossible. However, if you implement a more modular structure for configs and script loading, it'd be pretty easy to implement, at the cost of backwards compatibility.

you're not going to be able to modify the source code to have different changes for different mods, you need different binaries and you need to recompile each time, it's just not going to happen

Oh, you mean actual source code modifications.
In theory this could be done as well with some fancy hooks to allow plugin DLLs to override game code and other bullshit, but it's not really worth the effort for this old-ass engine.

Check out the full article, but basically we're extending CoP's story to before the start of the game, letting you make your way to Zaton after you're inserted into everyone's favourite level - the Great Swamps.

Oh my god it's like if Redux and WoTW had a baby aaaaa
I'd hope it's not only the swamps, though. Lots of kilometers to trek before The North.

This.
I loved your WoTW Cordon modifications, such as the spider holes. Would love to see that come to fruition in Wormwood, too
Now include Gunslinger when it comes out and I'll suck yo dick

I'm stupid I know..
there are too many people from too many communities working on too many mods that will literally never be finished
every single year i check what's up with stalker and it's the same thing every year, people working on fuckhuge ambitious projects using small teams with very little free time to spare working on the mod itself, this means that all you basically get is an update video every couple of months where not much is shown and the progress is as slow as it gets (read: redux)
this inevitably leads to abandonware
the only ones that seem to be getting work done in a reasonable time frame are russian communities but they suffer from the same problem - spreading themselves too thin. how long have we waited for lost alpha? which turned out to be just a pile of empty maps with nothing to do in them because the devs left the work of fleshing out said maps to other devs because they couldn't be bothered to
why not just pool resources together to finally finish at least one huge project instead of doing your own thing and then probably abandoning it because you lost interest somewhere along the way?
What I never did get this how everyone makes their own stuff like AK models n shit like that
why not just pull something from the gigantihuge pool of AK models that already exist in other mods and just see if the author allows you to use those assets.

why not contribute to a project yourself?...

This question is funny.
As a modder, you're trying to create a version of the game you would have liked the game to be. At least, most bigger mods tend to be "overhauls" refining little traits about a game as the author of said mod sees fit.
That's why there's so many projects of this scale. Not everyone agrees on all points they want to change. It's like working on a school project. You get 3 extra students into your team at random. Would you expect them to fully adapt your ideas and just ... execute them? Or would you expect them to disagree on a few of your points, thus altering your own idea to fit everyone's?
Same principle for modding. You can't expect random individuals to team up and create something they all agree on. Hell, I disliked LOADS of directions MISERY took, but I still worked on the mod. It's impossible for everyone to get what they want in a team, that's why compromises get made. But if someone wants to realize their sole vision of the game without any compromises, but they still have to take real life into account, then yes you get abandoned projects.
why not contribute to a project yourself?...
because i'm not a modder and even if i was i would set forth goals for mods that i have the time and resources to make instead of biting off more than i could chew and then start abandoning projects half way because i haven't thought things through

i don't understand why would projects of this scale exist in the first place if from the start you know that the team you're going to work with isn't in full (or even partial) agreement as to what the final product should be.
making compromises for the sake of everyone else and the continuation of the project is a given, it's rudimentary, but when you compromise to abandon the project altogether you need to ask yourself why it happened in the first place, and what led to that decision so that you won't end up with the same end result again.
if your project is too big for you to manage in your free time, and you have shortages of manpower at your disposal to begin with, then just don't start it in the first place. make something small and work your way up. i understand you want to create your vision of the game and bring that dream to life, but you can't do it on your own or with two or even three people. you need to cover all the bases so that you don't end up with a portfolio of abandoned projects and a current project that's coming along slower than a Lada full of elephants going uphill.
Just need a way to check mags and we're almost to fully hudless STALKER
i've always imagined this to be a little bit like ACE Mod for Arma, where it tells you how heavy the mag feels together with red yellow and green colors.
