You can sign up for beta which will take place in Q1 2016.
Why not?
Is it really unity 5? It looks surprisingly good if it is.
yeah, i thought it was cryengine because the ambient occlusion and general lighting looks so uncanny
Aloha stalkers
So are we at the point of addons to mods to mods to CoC yet?
Or generally, is there some sort of CoC: Amazing edition out yet?

Wait so is this like DayZ not shit edition?
Signed up ages ago, the gunplay looks pretty fun so that's something I guess

It can look even better, from the demos I've seen on their Unity 5 channel. They do seem to use -slightly- higher quality models (both 1st person as world models), but if you start to nitpick, I wouldn't say it's as amazing as CE for example. I agree on the overal lighting looking like CE, because it's far from "realistic" lighting. They did a splendid job on the stylized feeling, I'll give them that.
Also, I'm taking this with a grain of salt because I've got a 6-year long experience with these guys. Anyone remembers Russia 2028? Yeah, it's prolly dead by now but they still got loads of money for it.
I like how nobody knows shit about the Dev. They just kinda popped up outta the blue.
I'm guessing it's backed by some bigger studio or publisher.
so apparently OGSE 0.6.9.3 actually hit final 1.0 back in September?
still no English translation though. they have one 90% done but need translators..
Anyone got a link to all those Call of Chernobyl mods?
[editline]25th December 2015[/editline]
Wait I think I found em

/sg/ repo is at http://sys.4chan.org/derefer?url=https%3A%2F%2Fmega.co.nz%2F%23F!UpIFQAaS!azP78S8xIqsmRoZV3BOHkg
I just pushed a merge of RMA and AA2 to moddb, if you're looking for a holiday merge to play while waiting on OGSE.
What's that one mod that has people talking about local happenings over the announcements?
I don't see that one in the mega.upload thingy

Which version of RMA?

1.1. I didn't use 1.1.5vr as it seems to have unused/unfinished stuff in it, though I've barely looked at either in depth. Why do you ask?
The Shadows addon for 1.1 and the MgVolkolak one for 1.1.5vr are also possible sources for merging, but both seem on the kitchen sink side of things.

The SGM Dynamic News port to CoC. It doesn't seem to be in the repo - the person maintaining the CoC repo seems to have disappeared, sadly. I've uploaded it here: https://mega.nz/#!H8JzBCAA!T12rvXNT_Iv_4VQ3vaWLhlgAvp5MSkRsTUewsA685c4
Fuck, I miss not knowing shit about STALKER. It's the first and only game series that I played as an adult that managed to make me feel similar to I did playing the first half-life when I was a kid and being scared and in awe of how real everything seemed.

eh, mostly just curious.
I prefer 1.1.5vr just because of the extra shit, it brings SoC back to the way it was ~2006-ish - I tend to see it as the definitive version of SoC's storyline
I was watching Beaglerush the other day and he said something that finally made me understand what gave STALKER its horror elements.
"Any game is a horror game if it's immersive enough."
Maybe not in every single case, but it did make me get it completely. STALKER can immerse me far further than most games. Not all, but most. Because of this, every mutant that is an actual threat can terrify me more than some random ass polygon ghost in some Unity game that I play as an actual 'game' of sorts. Not that I play Unity games, but you get my point.

How stable is it? Maybe I'll look at merging some of it back in later.

Yeah, I agree the immersion is a very large factor in keeping the combat and atmosphere always fresh. That combined with the dynamic a-life keeps me constantly scanning in the game, I'm never just running through it even in areas I've played dozens of times.
A mod that restricted saves to campfires or other safe spots would be very interesting because of this constant tension, I think. Kind of like a mini ironman system. Quicksaves, which I tend to abuse, take away from some of the tension.

Noooo, like in my post, they're a sub studio of the team behind Contract Wars / Russia 2028.
Yeah that's something I loved about STALKER. I remember my first time playing and getting the mission to check out X18 and all I could think was, "fuck that shit. I'm not going down there after the party that was Agroprom". I spent hours roaming around before I worked up the courage to get that done.

Last I played it was reasonably stable, I think it would sometimes crash on the new maps if you missed a shader file or something but that's about it.

The true horror is
stack trace:
Oh lord yes, the amount of times I've CTD'd without a crashlog or just
strack trace:
Luckily that's going to change soon

http://www.grind.fm/node/1571
You get EXP for killing streaks
Oh dear.

Reading just that out of context makes it sound really bad, but reading the whole post, it still seems like it will be interesting
[editline]28th December 2015[/editline]
I mean, even from the part you took that from, the stuff like "cleaning water" and "using your meds the right way" sounds really interesting
Experience
You will also gain XP for:
- Exploring the world
- Finding all kinds of new things
- Repairing your gear and weapons
- Eating
- Using your meds the right way
- Cleaning water
- Healing your teammates.
- Killing / Headshotting / Killing Sprees
- Looting
- Lockpicking / Scavenging
[editline]28th December 2015[/editline]
especially the bits about being able to store stuff and even get insurance on the gear you carry
[editline]28th December 2015[/editline]
Also they talk about a lot of PVE stuff, which alleviates my fears of it being mostly PvP
I think the pvp element could work as long as movement and weapon portions are perfected.
yeah I'm totally ok with some more arcadey-ness with how hardcore the rest of the game seems to be, I'm still hopeful
