that's a shame
Well, the one mod I was looking forward to the most has been closed.

I'm using Google Translate - any Russian speakers confirm they are indeed cancelling?
Проект закрыт.
Будет последний трейлер, прощальный.
Перед всеми извиняюсь, за то, что не оправдал ваших ожиданий, спасибо команде за все, что было за эти 4 года.
Project closed.
There will be a last farewell trailer.
I'm apologizing to everyone, for not meeting your expectations, thank you for team for everything that happened during these 4 years.

I initially meant to translate this right away, but played blade and soul and then forgot it in the 20 something tabs i had open.
[editline]16th February 2016[/editline]
Also, rip.
If I worked on mods like this and just closed down suddenly, I'd certainly release the content for the community to take. Why let it go to waste and die on your drive?

Haha, jesus christ. If these guys spent the time making the trailers on development, they could have made the mod.

At least it's better than pushing a drama with "leaked build" to cover lots of unfinished stuff/broken promises.
At least it's better than pushing a drama with "leaked build" to cover lots of unfinished stuff/broken promises.
oh shit son
tbh i wish every team that cancelled their mods would just fucking release everything they have, i dont understand this "eugh if we wont release it how we want you cant have it" mentality
Shame. They should just release this and Gunslinger in their unfinished state to let people either finish or play around with what's left.
Did they state they wont be releasing anything? I mean, it would be really stupid. They must have some great assets.
So, 2016 last year of STALKER modding?
If it had been as easy as editing GldSrc, I bet my life it would have had waaaaay more mods than HL....
So now:
Waiting for english OLR 2.5 translation
Phantom Zone
Waiting for english OGSE translation
Wormwood.
¿?
At least it's better than pushing a drama with "leaked build" to cover lots of unfinished stuff/broken promises.
and yet again you create another drama with old forgotten untrue bullshit?
So do you say it's better just to hype a mod with media stuff for years and in the end let down everyone and create a last hype trailer, which demands involving another dozens/hundreds working hours?
I wonder how much actual playable content had Frozen Zone at this point.

You can paint me as an evil being as much as you want but sadly it won't make Lost Alpha any better that a huge pile of disappointment.
And yet there is no answer from FZ team about the reasons everything was stopped. So all we can do now is wait and see. I hope there is something really serious if they decided to shut down the project they worked on for 4 years.

All but PDA chatter and names are translated. It's totally playable, though I didn't get much further than Cordon.

Nevermind then, it looked like your words were directed to Alundaio/CoC.
Well, I didn't want to defend LA.
Sad to see this again and again, that mod makers falling into their own trap with creating too much pressure with their own media stuff. But just as like OGSE 0.6.9.3 did, probably this project could rise again from the ashes too, they need just some rest.

You guys really need to quit being so aggressively defensive about that...

Oh shit, and you just give it to me when I'm coursing an intensive mul. var. calculus course.
Ahhh dayuuum, guess those Lagrangians will have to wait.
Marked one, here we go once again!

Wtf I just never understood this "media pressure"
Dude you're just reading words in a screen. If you started the project to get likes and so on.... mah gopnik
What are you doing?
Well shit. I mean I kind of figured Frozen Zone would never come out, I figured even Gunslinger (also rip) would release before that, was way too ambitious anyway.
i think other than the issue of modders not releasing what assets they've made already, another is why do modders place SO much on finishing their project without so much as little iterations? I mean I get being professional and gathering hype, but you're just going to shoot yourselves in the foot the more promises that get added on and the more the teams want to polish. It's just frustrating to see modders put supposedly a lot of time and effort into making their assets, and when the team just calls quits, it's all just gone to the wind?
It's just frustrating to see modders put supposedly a lot of time and effort into making their assets, and when the team just calls quits, it's all just gone to the wind?
That's surprisingly common in the russian modding scene. It's enough for just one team member (the project leader) to quit and nobody will try to take their place. And when asked to at least release their work in its current stage, the devs would claim "nah we might have a use for it in the future" and of course 99% of times they won't.

https://mega.nz/#!rkhUlTyQ!UKzNXLf_R1J0gLieq8wUvyATDrpOi0aTqYWbSiVwbCk is an updated English translation. Anon was kind enough to use his machines to translate the scripts folder, so this includes somewhat mystical, but undoubtedly English PDA chatter, UI strings, and such.
Just unpack and drop over your existing gamedata, it adds a new scripts/ folder.
I haven't been keeping up with stalker mods but a friend told me gunslinger was cancelled. Google isn't bringing up anything. Is he full of shit or was it actually cancelled?

it's dead jim
well, it's on indefinite hold so it's basically as good as dead

So both the frozen zone mod and gunslinger are effectively cancelled? Well that fucking sucks.
Beacon, be our light and save us with Wormwood.

Create a mod and then you will see the dozens if not hundreds of questions and messages you receive weekly or monthly about your mod (depending on popularity). Even Bangalore was receiving strange PMs about LA and he wasn't even in Dez0wave. So yes, there is pressure. You fuck something up you will hear about it endlessly. I made a broken patch and my inbox was filled with silly questions. I feel absolutely obligated to make a good working mod.
This is why we didn't promote CoC apart from what Koma did himself. We didn't want to disappoint people if it wasn't exactly what we said it would be and one reason why I was upset with leak. People were telling me my mod, what we worked on for years, was shit; when it wasn't in the state I wanted people to see it in. So I can understand why some modders won't release unfinished work.
Mod making isn't about popularity, I see it as a form of expression, like artwork. You create something and you get joy when others enjoy it. You feel sadness if others don't like it.

in time my friend
If you ever develop a mod and cant go through with finishing it for the love of god go open source with it so someone can finish it.
Your work loses a lot of its purpose if it never gets to see the light of day.

As someone who makes a lot of mods that never see the light of day, I don't agree

Fuck, that scene of the guy driving past the Bus station with some Stalkers hanging out in it looked so cool.
It actually kind of frustrates me that they put so much time and work into these teaser/trailers for something that otherwise has no media, then they complain about not having enough time and canceling the project.
From their VK group:
Все последние наработки и исходники были слиты оставшимся в команде. Ждите новостей от них, но это уже будет другой проект. А сам Frozen Zone - в коме.

All the work and latest build were leaked by the remaining team members. You can wait for news from them but it most likely gonna be completely different project. But Frozen Zone itself - in coma.
