Cheeki Breeki comrades, as I see nothing ever is finally out as usual
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: The wait for a good mod to finally come out and not be deleted or broken the day after.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: The wait for a good mod to finally come out and not be deleted or broken the day after.
That's true of a lot of modding communities unfortunately. A lot of modders just flip the table when they get fed up and wipe everything so people can't even build on what they made. Unfortunately a lot the ones that do that make some of the best stuff, too. :( Hopefully he just got hacked and the page got messed up.
been playin a bit of STALKER: Call of Pripyat (unmodded except for FOV mod), first time playing any STALKER game. I'm not going in totally blind since I've played Metro 2033 and Last Light where many similar ideas to the STALKER games were present. It's quite a lot of fun, I like it.
Then I'd advice you to try out SHoC too, while you're at it.
What's the bestiest clear sky overhaul mod? Or what mods I should look at to pick something I like?
I don't have it so I'll have to buy it sometime, but I wanna save my money so it'll be awhile.
It goes on sale once in a while so you might catch it for as low as $2.50. Be sure to do that when it is because it really is a great game. Also welcome to our community brother :)
Speaking of which, would it be considered absolutely hell to try and torrent SoC or CS, hypothetically speaking? I mean, they're extremely fucking buggy unpatched, so I imagine it would be one big ass mess to try and get everything sorted out, as opposed to just buying it on Steam and letting it auto-update without the hassle.

Nah, I own all the games, but I think it might be a pretty good DRM idea for companies to use by following GSC's execution. 1. Release buggy as fuck game. 2. Release patch. 3. Release several more patches that need to be done in succession to work properly. 4. Gear the game towards a client like Steam or GOG or some shit to all of this automatically. 5. Piss off a lot of people in the process. 6. Success.
As I understand it his account and pages were hacked.
And it's back up!

I know in all technicality, that is pirating, but I bought the games and I can't be assed to fiddle with the discs anymore. I just keep the ISOs on my computer. I should really just rip ISOs of all my old CD-based games so I can put them in storage. Just try to get raw ISOs and manually patch them up to date. It's not rocket science, just a bit of work.

Is Lost Alpha any good? Im willing to play SoC with mods, and im choosing atm, what to install
Is Lost Alpha any good? Im willing to play SoC with mods, and im choosing atm, what to install
If you haven't played SoC or any of the other games yet, do those first. Taking LA as introduction to stalker will probably ruin the experience for you. If you did play SoC or CS / COP before, I would personally recommend you to wait on the DC patch. It'll be released within a month or so, hopefully, and will get rid of loads of annoyances left in LA.

Cant wait anymore, i really want to replay all games again. Since late december..
Is Lost Alpha any good? Im willing to play SoC with mods, and im choosing atm, what to install
Don't play LA! It's a great mod overal, but it has one huuuge problem. You ever felt like you walk too much in SoC? Well Lost Alpha tripples the time you will walk with nothing happening. Lost Alpha is rich with quests where you need to walk to one point, then back and back to that one point again. Throught multiple locations. With no dynamics happening at all. This ruined LA for me.

I hate when stalkers get into fireplaces. A perfect example is army warehouse, what fucking idiot made that map? Ghost get fucked by the sniper after the task is given and when you come back someone has burned their ass.

The level designer and one of the programmers, both got drunk and decided to make a level that looks like a triple-border between the three most important faction, INSTEAD they created a clusterfuck where all the missions can get easily screwed or Failed, and spawns are like a russian roulette....
A perfect example is army warehouse, what fucking idiot made that map? Ghost get fucked by the sniper after the task is given and when you come back someone has burned their ass.
There is nothing wrong with the map design itself, the missions in the maps and the maps themselves went through many redesigns. Army warehouses shrunk in size a bit, but the missions in the map work fine for the most part. The devs could've placed Skull inside the building and it would've been fine, but... The fireplaces are simply a result of badly managed smart_terrains. Not that they usually kill anyone important in the first place. Going into SoC for the first time and looking for purely visual mods. I'm guessing use AtmosFEAR 3 and one of the Realistic Texture packs? Which ones from Eye Candy in the mod repository should I get?
first time = vanilla you must experience it thus so, unless we're talking zrp stuff. imo the visual mods out there really don't do much anyway, the game still looks fine today.

For my first playthrough i got some weapon textures and played around with lighting commands in the console r2_sun_lumscale 3 (I think) and a low lumscale_amb made the outdoor lighting look a lot like more modern games
i'll jump in and say all you need is ZRP
