thanks bundlestars i was missing this so much
I really want to play STALKER again, not sure if I should play Vanilla SHOC or just get a mod I havent used before. Any recommendations?

is that the map they had planned? to be an actual recreation of the zone? that'd be hella cool.
it's from the apparent leaked STALKER 2 source code
I've had a look at it in Visual Studio, it checks out - work from 2008-2010 in there with GSC all over it
lots of deep references to 'cells', which seems to me to be it could be an open-world style streaming system, like fallout/TES
too bad
that would've been sick.
As long as every building wasn't a loading screen like bethesda games i mean
Does anyone know how the first person hands work in Call of Pripyat, or where the mesh is located at? I'm learning how to mod this game, and I'm a little confused.
EDIT: Found it.
stop posting about stalker 2 or else im going to cry
I didn't even know there was a stalker 2 source leak. Was there anything usable? I mean, it's not like they were anywhere close to being done.

right now we don't have much of the actual game code, and there are no assets at all, it's basically the framework, but it's interesting
also, an early build of metro 2033 including their WYSIWYG level editor leaked too

Holy hell. The gods of the apocalyptic genre are telling us to make good use of all these valuable assets

just don't make it areal
Recently finished SoC for the first time (without any mods) and had a great time. I was going to move onto Clear Sky but I just wanted to ask whether it would be better to play with the Complete Mod that people mention. I know the OP mentions that I should play it without mods for the first time but I just wanted to ask for opinions regarding this. As a number of people have commented that you overall have a better experience when playing with the Complete mod because of the enhancements and fixes.
You could just get SRP, it has the needed bugfixes.
Use Complete if you want the game to be easier and over faster, I guess.

The problem with Complete is that it makes the game significantly easier from what I hear.
Ahh well I wouldn't want it to be easier. That Sky Reclamation Project sounds good if it's mainly bug fixed. Though I wouldn't mind something that helps with some annoying stuttering that the games does (even at 60fps) randomly.
figured it out

Apparently the stuttering is mostly due to large textures. Lowering texture detail is supposed to help
What is the general opinion on the mod Lost Alpha? I am playing it right now and so far I am enjoying it quite a bunch.
I'm looking at that Metro 2033 leak.
What the fuck it's literally a forked version of X-Ray from 2006.
I knew 4A's Engine had similar roots...But DAMN.

I don't know why, but when I saw a certain overlay affect during one of the first trailers for Metro I immediately picked up on it having been X-ray at one point.
I kinda wished that someone could port SoC maps to Metro 2033 leak, if it's possible.

I remember a while back seeing a video showing the early 2033 levels in STALKER's engine, it was really bizarre
What is the general opinion on the mod Lost Alpha?
I think Lost Alphas biggest problems become very apparent in the midgame [sp]when the game starts seriously witholding missions that would have any actual firefights, instead it's just fetch quests across the entire global map with no hostile NPCs to shoot, it's very annoying[/sp].
Also, [sp]the plot has no failsafes in case a quest becomes unfinishable or an important mission giver NPC dies and there's no sequence breaking so you could be 10 hours into the game and discover that the game is unbeatable, whoops![/sp].
Lost Alpha definitely has the best framework for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, but the product itself makes almost no use of it. Hopefully it would start attracting some modders to make use of the great levels.

I don't think it is necessary to play vanilla first in order to have a good time, but you shouldn't make Complete your first playthrough. Clear Sky has the least overhaul mods, since it is the least popular one, but you could try out Arsenal Overhaul, which visually improves and adds weapons and suits, and tweaks the economy. That is, if you don't decide for a vanilla playthrough, because it changes to much in these fields to be considered vanilla-ish (rather than e.g. Autumn Aurora).

For the interested, probably not the video you meant though.
