Anyone know the name of the SoC mod that has individual magazines for various guns? Seems like a potentially cool mechanic to mess with.

It's "Kirag's magazine mod". Most people know it from being included in Zone of Alienation. Also in AMK Solyanka and Brutal Mod, among others.

Good ones, I'm guessing first one is Cordon and second is Rostok or Wild Territory?
I'm actually gonna go for Agroprom for the first one. It has enough trees and high enough spots to see above the treetops like that, plus there's a helicopter flying around the South-West facility after you reach the underground entrance.
As for the second shot, I have no clue, but I'll say Yantar.
I'll guess Agropom on the first one. It's foresty enough with hills for a good view.
Second shot could be BAR. I know there's quite a few splotches around the edges of the area.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the last part of SoC? I don't like the gameplay of that bit, I loved the earlier game.

Its a total break in gameplay terms. Although it is foreshadowed by the Brain Scorcher level, as in you have to follow a corridor filled with enemies in pre determined positions and then get to the objective.
But, I didn't have any trouble with that. It was fun, because, you know after all, you are doing it inside the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. No matter what happens there, it's fucking cool -no pun intended-.
On the other hand, I didn't like that THAT much because it had a lot of terrain that went unused and should have been filled with more lore to explore or written stuff ala Call of Pripyat. Maybe some cutscenes with Spetsnaz asking for help. You know, decisions.
Gotta admit those huge anomalies set as borders scared the fuck out of me the first time I played the level. Specially the first electro ones after the bridge. Their proportions really had an impact on me.
It's funny to consider that the level geometry for Agroprom and the CHNPP barely changed at all from 2003 to 2007 :v:
I never realized the feeling of accomplishment in Clear Sky, when you wipe out all the bandits, and mutants from Garbage and Agroprom. It turns those places into this weird peaceful haven. Then Duty and Freedom decided to have a dick waving contest at the Garbage.
What the hell? Why are there ghost mutants coming out of the ground and walls? Why is my screen looking like someone applied a piss filter to it? Is this what the brain scorcher does to you?
At least the Monolith were nice enough to give me a sniper and ammo after I asked with polite bullets.
