If the testing servers are still hosted in eastern europe/russia, it might be a good idea to just use the FPARMA ts3, since it is hosted in europe.
it doesn't really matter where the ts3 server is hosted since latency never seems to be an issue for such a small amount of data being transferred from ts3 clients
In terms of the game server it mostly depends on who will be playing on it and which higher percentile is located in which continent
Is there an equivalent of Autumn Aurora 2 for CoP? Something that adds suit visors, better weapon anims and changes the game visually a bit?
I installed misery 2.1.1 just to give it a shot + that gun mod for it and after a little bit of playing, everything in it just seems like it's needlessly convoluted, not really to my taste.
Basically I want a mod that adds good suit visors/breathing and weapons like AO.
a lot of people rant and rave about misery, but I think it's just because they're totally oblivious to the other mods that are out there. misery might be good for some people but imo it just breaks the immersion of the game by becoming unnecessarily difficult. instead of making the enemies harder they just make it easier to die which just ruins it. as if the game wasn't hard enough
RoH Update
The international Stalker RoH team is still looking for modelers, animators and scripters (for quests, etc). If there is anyone here interested in possibly helping the team, please contact me via PM or steam and I'll try and get you into contact with the international staff manager asap. So if you have prior knowledge working with the xray engine, feel free to contact me.
but if you're a modeler you obviously need to be talking to me first wink wink nudge nudge
also, I'm graduating today!
should have sewn a faction patch onto my mortarboard or gown or something
It's been a while since I've posted here. How's it going guys?

Everything of major note is still in development hell, except Ray of Hope, which saw a brief test and was apparently amazing fun.
Pretty sure I'll be on my deathbed, talking to kids and family, when some lil' shit will whisper "Gunslinger finally had a beta release~"

Call of Chernobyl is reportedly 99.99999% done, but we've yet to see anything else of it.
Anything more on wormwood? Its sort of the successor to MISERY so I want to know about it.
One thing I love about MISERY is how many new stashes there are. People say its hard, though you can find ammo, artifacts, guns, and really anything sort of suits in a box or backpack hidden somewhere. You can find weapon repair kits and cleaning kits, which is enough to repair some of the real nice stuff the mercs carry. Yesterday I found a half condition sako TRG-42 on a merc in zaton, which I killed with an M4A1 I found on another merc and repaired.
Some of the stashes are just hidden in really out of the way spots.

beac's graduating and moving at the moment, so no weekly post from him.
I would quibble "successor to Misery"; it's a very different mod. Right now we're still working on a lot of stuff (see Beac's twitter feed, for instance), but nothing that easily translates into a screenshot or video.
Not sure if anyone is interested in LADC, I'm on the fence about playing it when it comes out due to the fan-fiction story. Either way, they have DX11 fully implemented apparently:

BTW - if anyone has a serious interest STALKER, Metro or Survarium the gameru.net forums are usually first with info. I know a couple developers from 4A post there in the Metro thread with cool shit from time to time.

Soon.
Is it standalone or requires one of the other games?
Standalone, but with option to install it on top of Call of Pripyat (might be faster i guess).

My biggest beef with LA wasn't the story (which recreated some parts of the Olddocumentdesignstory.pdf quite well), but rather poorly designed quests that sent the player on fetch quests across the global map with no combat against human opponents. Oh yeah, and some missions had an odd fixation of creating "dramatic moments" via cutscenes that absolutely trash the play value of the mission(Army Warehouses and Dead City to name examples) If they've fixed that, and put some fail-safes in the plot (currently, Lost Alpha has a ton of sequences where if anything goes wrong with mandatory plot sequences, you're SOL because you can't sequence break at all) I'd gladly play it.....
Either way, I'm willing to give Lost Alpha a chance, some of it's flaws can be attributed to the beta phase, but with mods it might become one of the most interesting S.T.A.L.K.E.R experiences yet.

ty too, DeathFP
Taken from the ROH Facebook page just now. : Our main man was having some father&son time on mountains, and reasons unknown ended up in hospital for a day and is on morphine's. He got home but kinda missed everything related to the beta test that was supposed to start today. So we have to let him rest. (the irony is indeed that this was important day for RoH)
Sorry to inform you that the open beta test did not reach west, because lack of information and how situation was handled. There is no open test in sight today, we were expecting this but would have been nice to receive some information so we don't leave international RoH hanging. But looks like we have to.
The servers are open indeed, people are playing. But only in Russia right now. We have to rebuild some communication, we clearly can't let 1 man to handle all the responsibility. Wait till morning, couple days. Or even a week or so, the beta is just going to pop up as an update at some point.
Our team structure right now is around 8 person on international team, and many more on Russian team. And only 1 man changing information between the teams. Because Russian team lacks communication and interest on international team we need to approach them instead blindly trust "everything is going to be just fine"
So we are fixing our communication while RoH team is doing what they do best, code shit out of that engine and make some servers roll. Hopefully all of us get to play soon.
Again, sorry for 2nd missed dead line. Zone has claimed another date.

Can anybody figure out how to get the russian version working? The launcher I used seems to be the same as the other test and the servers are down for it.
Russian rohtest event has ended. Now to wait for the international, which will be better (hopefully).
This meant that russian version servers are down.
Hey, will servers files be available to everyone or you guys will use the system used for BF and COD games?
I saw a group of 6 cheeky breeki military k00nts under the bridge up north from the rookie camp, and my "murderboner" instantly became erect. I picked them all off with my silenced pistol, and then a random stalker came walking through to check out the carnage. (Yes that is a pile of AKs that couldn't fit in my backpack sitting next to the dead bodies; at this point i've become addicted to looting)
[T]http://i.imgur.com/RGzmsXU.jpg[/T]
And I went back to the camp and there are no longer rookies here, does this mean i'm not a rookie?? Either way it's goot to have the boys back home!

The Stalkers at the camp are usually random and the old positions get filled after various reasons by Rookies or higher. Just depends who gets there first.
You can check your rank via your PDA. Although it doesn't really contribute to much. Well in Vanilla anyway.

In vanilla? Is there a mod where it matters?
In vanilla? Is there a mod where it matters?
Yes. Some mods, as an example SGM for COP won't let you hire, trade or even do missions with or for certain people until you have a certain rank or amount of experience. AMK for SOC also has similar functions aswell if I recall. Although not to as much of a degree.
In Vanilla it's pretty much just for show when it comes to your character. But in mods, at-least some of them anyway. It plays a larger part, it also plays a larger part for some NPC's.
If a stalker lives long enough, gets enough kills or rank points etc as an example. He will say go from Rookie to Experienced his clothes/armor will change as will his weapons. It again depends on the mod being used as many mods use the rank system in different ways so its use is rather varied dependent on circumstances but in comparison Vanilla ranking is pretty much just for show.
AMK had the neat feature where actual NPC's that were alive and moving around (Thanks to new A-Life changes) would gain rank based on offline and online A-Life combat etc and would actually gain rank and rise up the boards and compete with you sometimes. Sadly in Vanilla all the stalker rankings stay static and yours rises for the same feats but without purpose.
I remember the ranking system in SoC. On my second playthrough, I decide to hunt the #1 stalker in the game. I found him near the power plant, and killed him. Then I became #1.
I also killed all of the stalkers as well, so they wouldn't dethrone me.
I also did the same. Was fun to track them down. In AMK it's even more fun due to the more open AI. (By which I mean more variation to their whereabouts and where they can venture in the world) and the fact that they rank up also.
It's quite fun to track down the ones from hostile factions and put them down. Maybe it was just me that enjoyed that and I'm a bit weird... :v:
Was also fun to slowly see a guy you saw near the start of the game as a rookie in a rookie jacket with a sawn off slowly rank up and rise up the board to then be a Vet in a Seva or Exo.

I forgot which mod I was playing, but I stumbled across a lone Loner survivor after a Bloodsucker attack around the military camp that you meet Mole in. He was just chilling out near a campfire around a bunch of loner and sucker corpses. I later came across the fucker in an Exosuit somewhere else in the game, many hours later.
It's such a minor thing that you almost never notice it, but when it does happen, it's the coolest shit.
Does DMM:AE have the dynamic ranking stalkers who get better equipment?
Vanya you clown, what do you need nearly 7000 rounds of ammo for?
