NS Joint Pak is based on the same mods as Stalkersoup (NS + DMX) and is a lot more stable and fun. I don't have the link on hand, but the Ugandan home-movie market is actually totally humbling film enthusiasts from small villages/towns. They're financially at rock bottom, so they use anything they can for film effects and weapons - I remember one guy had a bullet bandolier that was just painted and carved sticks.

that's freaking sweet
how badly does it hurt performance?
I lose a couple of frames around skadovsk (where my FPS is normally ungodly low ANYWAY), that's about all I've observed.

so tomorrow I'm gonna see if I can't make it modify the volumetric intensity of the lights depending on the current weather. I also thought about adding a cvar for it but it seems pointless when you can already disable all volumetric lights with r2_volumetric_lights

I'll also see if I can't expand the volumetric settings to anomalies too for shits and giggles. They already support volumetric 'idle' lights, but you can't configure their intensity or distance at all. I wanna add those, and also allow for volumetric anomaly "blowout" lights, which I think could lead to some cool effects!

the emphasis on these flashlights really makes me want a STALKER with good stealth mechanics
STALKER has the strangest stealth mechanics. They do, in theory, work. But the weird properties of sound in Xray makes them iffy at best.

I have to wonder why do skadovsk and yanov run so shitty in Call of Pripyat for me as well, even in DX9?
I assumed it was the amount of npcs at first, but in ShoC in pripyat there are way more and my fps stays around 70, and even in the densely populated areas in CS it stays fine (as long as I play on DX9)
Also some mods do add some stealth improvements, like oblivion lost remake turns down detection distance for enemies at night and makes them less accurate, but it's still very much a "stealth works until you get spotted" thing.

Are there any script mods or something for shoc that let you give medkits to wounded enemies to make them friendly? I think that would be a pretty cool feature for freeplay as a bandit or something.

No. Call of Chernobyl is not canceled. But someone did post the hash part of a url to a real build and the testing team was dismissed.
It's not something to be hugely concerned about. Plenty of testers have already came and gone with no issues simply because they were inactive. The two most contributing testers have been and still remain on the actual development team.
Does anyone here happen to still have a valid download link to CoP Reborn version 1.01b?
I would like to cobble together my own "Vanilla 2.0" with the usual cosmetic improvements, better AI and the usual fixes with adding as little extra content as possible. No new weapons, artifacts, consumables, mutants or the like, just a polished Call of Pripyat.
