OL3.0 is reminding me of how hilarious vanilla SHOC balance was.
This is borderline Doom tier. I'm sprinting around hedgehog speeds, then blap blap hipfire, then I'm off to the races again. And the sawed off is so pathetically weak. And I already have 700 AK-74 rounds before I've even gone north of the railroad in Cordon. Aaaaaaaaa

that's exactly what it is, it's just the previous frame's bloom layered on top of the current frame. I like the effect a lot.

I managed to get headlamps volumetrics working and released it for CoP, based on the latest OpenXRay release
I honestly could confuse that for a new stalker title if i didn't know the series so well.
I don't understand DirectX enough to try and recreate that light trail effect, damn it.
I know how it'd work in theory after looking it up, just storing the previous frame pre-bloom, darkening it, applying bloom, and then blending it additively on top of the current frame.

I really like Gunslinger's approach to upgrades. Just hope it doesn't enter development hell at some point. The customization looks fun and I hope the NPCs will also sort of utilize it and come with varied equipment.

Changing filters on gas masks sounds like its pretty cool, also the thing where everyone doesnt automatically have a geiger counter. Personally I like the idea of radiation as an invisible danger rather than one that makes your screen look like a broken tv. Normally you just leave immediately or you get some gear that makes you immune to radiation, but when you can only see it with a geiger counter it would be much easier to accidentally irradiate yourself.

Ugh god, I still don't get what makes SoC so atmospheric and scary, at least for me.
I've always been utter shit at scary games because I have a weak heart and I scream at cardboard pop ups of little trees and cute ghosts but CS and CoP have never been bothering me as much as SoC, in CS and CoP I still get scared of certain underground places or dark places and what not but in SoC I'm just shitting myself constantly 24/7 with the weird atmosphere, the weird noises and everything, I don't understand what makes SoC different but it kills my heart.

It's chock full of ambient effects, good enemy/object placement, and way better level design. Compare X18 to X8, for example: both are multi-floor dark basements, but the more directed goals and door-unlocking tasks of X18, which force you to explore places that the game really portrays as death traps, are a lot better paced than the fetch quest of X8, despite the few times clever scripting and enemy placement was applied in it.
X18 is still the fucking worst for me. Talking about SoC, I think the bar is in CoC right? Was it changed in any way? Because I'm a huge pussy, the Bar has always been my favorite part of the game since it was the only place I actually felt safe, most other "safe" places aren't actually all that safe.

I think one of the things about CS and COP not feeling like SOC is that the world is too alive. I find it kind of weird how each map is so populated in the games where its like a constant war zone with tons of people, which kind of takes away from the horror.
