Just bought 2070 through the Steam sale. First Anno game ever - I think I'm in over my head with this :v:
A good way to learn is to do a continuous game with no AIs and just try to get things started and see how well you can do, although I think you'll probably want to play the tutorials first.
Yeah give the campaign a go first since it's the tutorial. You can ask any questions here as well, everyone's helpful and pretty experienced. Great, just when I want to play fucking Ubi is down again.
Double post, this thread can't die. Steam is downloading an update now, hopefully it's a new world event! EDIT: Shit yeah new world event for the Tycoons, as well as heaps of bug fixes, as well as all this new stuff:
ANNO 2070 - Patch-Notes 1.04 The most important changes in overview: Additional ornamental buildings added Notepad function implemented Rival Third Parties will got to war against one another DLC-related awards will only be included in the overall count if the corresponding DLC has been activated The "Dock" building is now much cheaper to both build and operate The sawmill produces more slowly Goods depots' Surface-to-air missiles do more damage Tornadoes occur more rarely Skylar Bane's World Council actions have been rearranged and significantly increased Seamus Green's World Council actions have been rearranged, with some weakened and some strengthened Underwater Oil fields have been significantly increased at all levels of difficulty A bug was fixed which led to own games being flagged as „Other game” and therefore certain achievements not being unlocked.
Good to see the world council actions being balanced, fuck this eco dominance, hope it ends now. Never saw a tornado though in my time in the game, must be super rare, and even more rare now.

I can see this last world event mission as being totally fucked. Did the first really fast, moved straight on to the 2nd which was a little difficult because of the massively reduced tax income from residents, and by the description of the 3rd, the tax income from residents is near zero... no idea how I'm ever going to get a huge city with the only source of income being trade.
Tycoons are dominating this vote. Finally they too are getting some good bonuses.
I've played one of the older ones before, I think it was 1404 but didn't really get into it... what kinda game is it?
Also dunno if I already posted this, but there is a map generator for 2070: http://forums-de.ubi.com/showthread.php/35046-Random-World-Creator-steht-zum-Download-bereit? You can make maps a lot bigger than you normally could (max size normally is 1792, with this it's 2560). [editline]1st April 2012[/editline]
I've played one of the older ones before, I think it was 1404 but didn't really get into it... what kinda game is it?
It's kind of like Sim City with a lot stronger trading and diplomacy focus (also more focus on producing resources). There is a bit of military aspect to it, but it's not a focus, more like an option. At the moment I'd say 1404 with the expansion is still best (we'll see when 2070's expansion hits).
How's everyone going with the world event? I haven't played in about a week, I raged at the last mission.
Bump, this isn't dying. New game mode out called Conquest, keen to get a FP game going?
2070's first expansion has been announced, Deep Ocean.
Anno 2070, last year's entry in Ubisoft's long-running RTS series, gets a major expansion this Autumn, the publisher has announced. Titled Deep Ocean, it adds a new civilisation level, with the Tech faction expanded by the Genius class. The new class offers access to the new Tech Monument, corresponding production chains and consumption goods. You can also expect new vehicles and items, which will allow you to develop industries, strengthen your economy and exploit new resources. See the new screens below for a closer look. Other new features added in the expansion include the following: Acquire enemy territories without using military force through the "Hostile Takeover" feature Resolve energy problems by building the new underwater geothermal power plant Optimise energy supply through "Energy transfer" between islands Face a new dangerous disaster: The Tsunami Unlock new rewards for each faction's career ladder Take advantage of new underwater trading routes Experience over 150 new challenging quests Unlock over 30 new achievements Access to player comparison via new leaderboards There's no word on a firm release date or price as of yet.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-04-23-anno-2070-deep-ocean-expansion-announced [editline]31st May 2012[/editline] I hope they add at least one more island biomes as well, sure we have underwater islands but they don't really feel like islands. Arctic, tropical, desert and so on would be awesome. I also hope they stick with a game now and keep expanding, there is a tonne of stuff that can be added, no need to make a new Anno with a new setting (for example they could have kept going a lot with 1404, adding the far east and such).
They've already added so much since the last time this thread was bumped, like the conquest mode and all the new missions. The expansion looks sick though, but I'm still having heaps of fun with the game in its current state so not in any rush to get the expansion.
I just gotta get a new HDD and I can install it again. Don't wanna waste any from those thee installs.....
Finally found this thread..
I just gotta get a new HDD and I can install it again. Don't wanna waste any from those thee installs.....
They got rid of that once people found out about it.
Anyone know the cheapest place to pick up Anno 2070? Finally got a computer than can run it well, and want to waste the next two days.
Anyone know the cheapest place to pick up Anno 2070? Finally got a computer than can run it well, and want to waste the next two days.
I wish. Have a few friends who want to buy it (as their first Anno game, so they aren't very sure of it) but I haven't found anywhere under 40€/$/£.
I wish. Have a few friends who want to buy it (as their first Anno game, so they aren't very sure of it) but I haven't found anywhere under 40€/$/£.
Well i've found a website where I can get it for £15 delivered, but want to wait till Steam sales see if they'll have it cheaper.
I've been wanting to jump in on this game again, but i still can't get past the research part.. for building a Dam.. in mission 3/4?
There's a Scandinavian online store that is currently selling Anno 2070 for 97 SEK ($14) You could always see if they have international shipping.
I've been wanting to jump in on this game again, but i still can't get past the research part.. for building a Dam.. in mission 3/4?
Just build two nuclear reactors. That's what I did. :v:
Wow nice to see my thread is still going
Man, the last mission on the current world event's pretty painful. I've just restarted it and have figured I need 653 houses to get the right number of execs, along with the massive amount of pasta, sushi and bio drinks I'll need.
I haven't played this in ages, been too stuck on other games, don't know why, it was so damn good, might have to get back into it before this current world event ends
Anyone know where I can still buy anno1404 in Canada? Seems that steam and ubisoft shop are both not selling it
Steam sale has 2070 for only 30 bucks if anyone's interested, pisses me off, I paid full price 80 for it. I guess it came out a while ago though.
Are there any tutorials for 2070? I can't seem to find any, maybe I've missed something.
Are there any tutorials for 2070? Only issue is that they're quite long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYFLhADYd3k
I was hoping to avoid 7 hours of videos... Damn
I was hoping to avoid 7 hours of videos... Damn
Chapter one of the campaign is basically a tutorial, if that's easier.
