It disgusts me too, but I haven't really figured out that much yet. Only been playing for a few days or so.
Anybody playing?
I'm up for a game.
Wish Anno 2070 would go on sale. Looks fun, but 50 bucks is way too much.
It was just on sale for 60% off last weekend?!?
In a four player game of 'Whatever it Take' in Anno 2070 between a bunch of friends, and we're all on edge since a tornado threatened to storm through our sector so we've been a bit jumpy with ecobalance and what not, and as a result of having four players going for Executives on one map, we naturally built fleets (mine is by far the biggest and most advanced, Colossus and has full upgrades and AT-4 or AT-5 shields).
So because two of my friend were Eco's and the other was a Tycoon who wasn't 100% familiar with Tycoon Executives, so I got a referendum by my Executives to build a missile pad. So you can imagine how freaked out everyone was when I plopped a fucking nuclear silo down.

It was 50% off on Tuesday-Thursday.

I was playing with a FP'er last night, the different playstyles between me and him are intriguing to me as I think about it.
Both of us started as Tycoons, however I used two islands for manufacturing and population each while he used one island for both. In goods and tech level he was more efficient at securing goods for himself and had shipyards by the time I had convenience food while I was using my goods to support my population centers and then trade surplus off, leaving me with a better financial statement.
I never really understand how you could manage manufacturing and population on one island with tycoons, plastic production totally wrecks ecobalance because of the need for oil. At least have a dedicated plastics/heavy pollutants island where you don't need to care much about the ecobalance.
Yeah, you're not really meant to do it on the same island. I generally go for one or more heavy industry islands, and an island for each populace, or else be prepared to fork out a load of money on deacidification stations and the like.
Noticed this thread was still up, better to bump this one than to make a new one.
Anyone want to have a meet up on 1404/2070 some day? Also, should I consider the idea of buying Deep Ocean for 2070?
Have a picture, this was the first time in this game I actually had to use a War Economy for combating fleets instead of focusing on population growth.

Just bought the game. I still have no idea what is going on half the time but it seems like a fun way to spend my time.
been playing with a friend again as of late, i handle the industry while he handles the people

I don't know if I'm the only one, but once I reach Tech 3 in Anno 2070, I tend to get extremely overwhelmed with everything, and 9 times out of 10, I'll just start a new game.
I much prefer smaller, easier-to-manage communities. Take for example my current game. I've got two main islands under my control. The first main island has two cities, packed with Tech 2 houses and Tech 3 houses (no Tech 1s cause I spaced stuff out really well). These cities are massive, sprawling metropolises. I've got an abundance of all the goods I need, but I just find everything so hard to keep on top of.
It's gotten to the point where I'm producing a fucktonne of everything, and everyone's happy, and I'm slowly progressing, but I just can't help but feel like there's so much to deal with. It loses it's tranquil gameplay and relaxing atmosphere, and sort of becomes micromanagement hell.
Is there a way to highlight specific buildings? I want to do a complete overhaul of my early industries (they're too tightly packed due to efficiency and not having the tools and goods to buy lots of warehouses [I had to budget myself]) and redistribute my factories to "sectors", where one warehouse will manage one production chain. I think that would be more efficient and look neater (I'm an OCD freak, somewhat) and be a lot less of an eyesore. Right now I've got energy production bunged in with iron pipe making and coal mining. It's a mess.
Would someone also be up for firing up a multiplayer game sometime?
Got this game during the winter sale. Been enjoying it so far. I wish there were was a way to see how the rate I'm producing a good verses the rate I'm consuming.
Loving 2205 so far, scale is ridiculous. Got ~45000 employees (monument requires 150000 of the top tier guys) in ~6 hours compared to ~20000 with a fully surrounded monument for all factions in ~43 hours in 2070. Moon is very expensive.
So from what I have read on reviews, the game is excellent but everyone is disappointed about it not having multiplayer and the price is like $10-15 too much for most people.
Would anyone who has played it agree? Or is it secretly shitty and broken (which seems to be the opposite of the case)
Shit, it's been awhile since we've talked about the Anno games, hasn't it?

I got it from GMG at 42% off for $35 US but the sale ended a few hours ago. I never played the multiplayer in Anno 2070 so I don't care that 2205 doesn't have it. It's really nice not having to use the awful combat system any more. Stuff has been streamlined around the board, no more eco balance, mines don't run out and require you to continuously research ore probes, pipette works on modules now.
A bit concerned about the longevity though, don't have the choice of two starting factions or a random map generator to keep it going.
no multiplayer? What were they thinking that is like half the reason people played the last Anno because the multiplayer was so righteous
I really want 2205, but from what I have heard I am going to wait for it to be ~£20 or so. No multiplayer is a pretty big step back from 2070, which I picked up again recently and still absolutely love.
Would probably melt my laptop too.
It's alright. It's very pretty. I like some of the gameplay changes but dislike the lack of multiplayer and combat.
Crisis sectors get very repetitive, there are only 2 that are available at the moment and after doing them a few times it's just too tedious to keep doing. The game is quicker pace. I "beat" it (made monument/headquarters) in around 15 hours vs 50-60 for 2070. Unless I couldn't find it it seems there is no continuous mode just the same sorta endless campaign mode with the same maps. Replay ability seems iffy at the moment. Overall not worth the launch price (thank god for GMG). Perhaps the planned DLC will provide some more content and perhaps they will add random maps or something later on to have a little more of a challenge.
I was kinda taken aback on how this new Anno is a Little dumbed down. I managed to beat the campaign in around 10 hours, the combat zones are stupid and like Gnomical said, repetitive, the moon's an arse to get going right and the Artic heat Mechanik is seriously hampering developments.
Holy crap, just beat Scorpio on Hard in 2070.
Never tried it before, but man that was a tense moment.
I managed to do it without advancing past employees, decided to plaster the entire island with level one housing until my ship cap was about 120, then mobbed him with 24 commando boats or so, just zerg rushed his HQ.
You don't actually even need to leave your initial island to do it.
Well.. The new Anno is.. Different.
I got it on the steam sale and it doesn't feel nearly as rewarding, challenging or fun as Anno 2070
And good god I wish they'd drop this hippie tree-hugging Day After Tomorrow bullshit. It's way too overbearing and obnoxious.
Also why is combat in it's own instance? And the sector thing gets old. And the trading/transferring materials between islands is like automatic so that takes a lot of the challenge out of making a logistic network yourself.

I thought that 2205 was great at first but there is fuck all replay value. Played the shit out of random maps in 2070 and only did a single campaign in 2205.
Played 2070 for 10 hours in one go the day I bought it and only played 2205 for 15 or 20.
I can't even play 2205 for more than like two hours at a time or less before I hit a wall and get bored.
With Anno 2070 it was challenging, now it is just boring. And they funnel you into all this extra bullshit I don't want to do like the instance "warfare"
Now it's like a whole lot of it is just given to you and simplified to a degree it isn't even hard. That warfare being a big part. There is literally no "failure" even if you mess up it isn't like your cities get bombed or your trade routes destroyed. It's in it's own world. And to top it all off it's some really strange arcade hybrid where you pick up power ups and health packs and dumb shit.
The game may have been redeemable with multiplayer but for some inexplicable reason they cut that out. Of all things.
Oh, and let's not forget about the wax-sculpture NPC's who barely move their mouths and their cringe-inducing save-the-world dialog.
