Lol, Ubisoft. (no coupons were given out)
I got a ubisoft coupon for 33 percent off, that's what I sued to buy anno.
Awww yeah, just bought the game, downloaded it, and the key works and everything.
I like the little bonus things and the points you get for achievements. I just wish Ubisoft would add more bonus content.
Any word on potential game-extenders?

I used a -50% Ubisoft coupon to buy Anno 2070. Paid £17.50 for it.
Sake of money.

Well there are going to be (donno if there have been any yet) World Events players can contribute to, and from what I've heard they're gonna be adding content in patches. Though probably small things like more decorative buildings and stuff.
Am I the only one kind of hoping that they'll do something with space in a future expansion or DLC? Mining asteroids would be pretty sweet.
Also a less blurry postcard view would be nice.
One feature I'd love them to add is adjustable time for multiplayer, for example only the host can speed it up. Having to wait is such a pain in the ass so games span out for much longer than they need to be since half of it is just waiting for resources.
Have to admit...Anno 1404....this game has sucked so many hours out of my life. They just...melt away.
Very relaxing game. Especially with some music or a video going on another monitor.

Is there an Unlimited Mode for 2070? I've just been doing challenges which are, well, challenging enough to keep me in them.

Yep, don't remember where but I know for sure it's there.
So I have been wanting to play the co-op but none of my friends are into this kind of game. If anyone wants to play with me, please add me as a friend on steam.
Edit: Your probably going to have to send a message too, because I will be in game.
I've always found these games interesting. I played a bit of 1404 and enjoyed it, though it could get complicated. Is 2070 worth grabbing? I've looked around for it, but would prefer to get it under $50 if possible.
I'd love to do some co-op but I'd rather not play with Americans.
Nothing against Americans or anything but the time difference is bloody annoying, especially if you're gonna play for a few hours on end, time zones have fucked me over enough time to have learnt my lesson. :v:

This is my first Anno game, bought it a few days ago due to my city-building itch. I'm having mixed reactions over it. It has beautiful graphics, a beautiful soundtrack, but a takes a while for me to stick with it, at least for me. It just seems a bit linear.
For those of you who played it more, what is the 'end-game' like for it? Is the entire point of the game just to plop down a few dozen houses, a few dozen buildings to keep people happy, connect everything by roads, and then you beat the game? Is there more to it? I havn't gotten that far, but it seems like it's just doing the same thing over and over again.

Considering wether to get 2070(Being the massive sucker for futuristic shit that I am), but I don't know if it will run. If I can run Crysis 2 at minimum EVERYTHING (even resolution) for 30-40FPS, can I run 2070?
(Don't tell me to go to canyourunit - It said I passed the recommended specs for Assasin's creed revelations, but it only just runs.)

Well you can set winning conditions for yourself in 1404... And there's that massive building for both factions that satisfies multiple needs of the citizens and covers almost entire islands, managing to build that is pretty much beating the game, I think.

There is fighting you know, Conquer the other nations. Reach end level citizens. Make your own goals.
I definitely know that one of my goals will be to cause as much pollution as possible. :v:

I find something inherently satisfying about a relaxing game I can take my time with...nice break from all the constant FPS craziness.
When I was first learning it I was frustrated later to find out I was doing a lot of things wrong and had essentially wasted a lot of time playing the game wrong.
There are a few Anno Wiki's that tell you exactly how to mix and match your buildings for maximum effectiveness. Once I found that, I started noticing I had more fun seeing my population reach new tiers faster.
I only look up building plans if I have no clue how to decently place some farms or whatnot, even if it takes more space I find experimenting and using my own design much more fulfilling.
Mother of God, I can only take 2070 in doses. It gets so confusing trying to track all of my resources.

Play online (or against bots). That way you have someone to antagonize and fight against (be it military or economical).
Also I wish you could get the building plans for other faction's buildings (like Tycoon building Eco structures) earlier. As a true Tycoon, never let ideology get in the way of increased profits.
I keep seeing videos of Anno 2070 and I keep thinking of buying it, but it looks so complicated (or in depth may be a better phrase), so much micro-management it seems. That put me off a little.

Start out by building quite a few worker residences and deny ascension rights, put the tax on the second green one so you won't get those pesky arrows above the houses and you receive a little extra cash.
Make sure to keep track of tea/liquor and fish, make enough plantations/distilleries/fisheries so that when you look into a warehouse you see a little green arrow pointing upwards underneath the bar.
If it slowly climbs (not too fast) and all your workers are satisfied put the tax back on the first green one and manually upgrade a few houses at a time before taking the taxes for the worker back to the second green one.
Rinse and repeat and keep track of all your goods and resources, it's way easier to follow if you take it moderately slow.
That's how I do it anyway, never really had a problem providing my citizens.
Goddamnit this is getting overwhelming. I have 5 islands and a main, I have to manage shipments and productions in all 5 (4 produce goods that are then sent to the main city island). Problem is the city is booming and now there is not enough meat and plastics, I try to produce more but then the production facilities of hamburgers and plastics get overwhelmed and can't churn out fast enough, so I need to build more of those too. Problem is my concrete industry needs a big upping as well, hampering my ability to expand other resource chains.
In the middle of that, resources are dropping across the world (as in I'm raping the world of all it's resources pretty much) and I have to maintain two reactors just for the main island (and making control rods for them is very time consuming).
Mostly it's a problem of securing enough meds and jewellery so the executives can rise from the current 1700 to the target of 2500.
Problem is I need more islands, but they are all settled by a hippie bitch who is always helpful and congratulates me on everything, making me reluctant to just raze her tree-hugging, sandal-wearing hippie village to the ground.
[editline]14th January 2012[/editline]
On the plus side I my income is 3000-5000 credits (depending on the mood of the executives) and the money never stops flooding in.
Dude, deny ascension rights. Managing the city wen your residents upgrade on their own is a nightmare. Manually controlling it makes managing things much easier. You can also control it with the taxes. Only euphoric residents advance to the next level, happy ones don't.
