Far from it. Capping your framerate is way, way safer.
just edit the .ini files, i'm playing with 1280 x 1024 just fine.
How would I do that? I basically have no idea what to change.
"fairly decent rig" Okay... Anyways, what drivers are you using? Also the game is really optimized from what I've been reading. This is the first time i've heard of someone with such a high-end card having issues. Something else must be going on that's interfering with your performance.
I guess it's above fairly decent :v: I've no idea what it could be, I tried it before with 347.52 Drivers, and then the latest "Fallout 4" Nvidia drivers which is 358.91.
Nope. Still doesn't use it. In my Fallout4Prefs.ini it's set to sD3DDevice="Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000" but typing in the name of my card does nothing as it simply reverts back to my integrated card upon launch.
Can you disable your integrated card from the BIOS maybe? Honestly I'm not sure what else to do sorry. Have you tried the read-only trick on those ini files you're modifying? Maybe someone here could copy and paste what their device is setup as in the config file? I'd do it myself but i'm still at work :(

Hope those bugfix/performance modders are gearing up to drop a patch, I'm not really willing to mess with any more shit if it has that bad of an effect Of course if Bethesda did it that would be nice but who knows
Loving this game so far. IT IS SUPER IMPORTANT YOU DO THAT .INI FILE SHIT it turned my game from barely playable (fucking FPS stuttering and gun aiming lag and all sorts of horrors) to a really enjoyable and immersive experience. Didn't think I'd have this much fun building a little settlement. Is there any way to lock wooden floors / walls down on the ruined house foundations after I scrap the houses? I feel if I try and do everything by eye, it'll end up wonky and ugly. I'd prefer if I could snap things to grid.
seriously though what ini fix
So does joining [sp]BoS affect the game much? Preston wouldn't stop frowning at me so I said I was unsure, I like this Minutemen stuff but I don't want to miss out.[/sp]
damn, $1200 for 12 sodas http://www.ebay.com/itm/NUKA-COLA-QUANTUM-ENTIRE-CASE-OF-12-FALLOUT-/191735739124?hash=item2ca45732f4:g:82UAAOSw~bFWQi-t [thumb]http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/82UAAOSw~bFWQi-t/s-l1600.jpg[/thumb]
My local Target received 12 whole sodas. One person bought them all.
Holy fuck, Feral Ghouls are ridiculous now. Back in Fallout 3 they were just cannon fodder.
Holy shiiiit [sp]Wandered into a place overrun with my first Synths, their weapons are SO COOL, decided to mod the shit out of one. All this after doing... like two story quests?[/sp]
When they first announced the vase building thing I though it was cool but that I would probably only end up doing it really late in the game if ever. Today is day one of me playing the game and over half of my play time is me constructing metal walls and scrapping old houses.
these .ini edits should really just be put in the OP
Yeah I posted all this shit on the first page hoping that people would see it... Guess not.
these .ini edits should really just be put in the OP
Crashes the game :wavey:
So I found some railway spikes in Super Duper Mart. Anybody know where you get the Railway Rifle?
Holy shiiiit [sp]Wandered into a place overrun with my first Synths, their weapons are SO COOL, decided to mod the shit out of one. All this after doing... like two story quests?[/sp]
[sp] when I found my first group of synths I got surprised by a legendary one; and was really surpised how well the ai was adapting to how I was fighting. Then I laid my only bottlecap mine and blew off its legs and it mutated. I was so happy the legendary synth couldn't move anymore but it had extreme prejudice even then. I always forget how useful crippling limbs is. Those barrages of blue lasers from the synths look awesome[/sp]
Graphics on the PlayStation are extremely underwhelming. I play this and skyrim instantly comes to mind which isn't a good thing as it was released years ago. Little things like my character making an over exaggerated breathing noise as if he is freezing, yet his face is completely void of emotion, lips don't even move. Little things like that are what let Bethesda's games down.
Unless Bethesda changed something with the code in the recent version of the engine, it's never a good idea to disable iPresentInterval. iPresentInterval isn't exactly Vsync, it's a Gamebryo/Creation Engine function that caps the game at 60 FPS in order to have stable physics. Surpassing 60 FPS in pretty much every Bethesda game since Oblivion always results in even more broken physics as well as various other bugs (quest timings, potentially timescale issues). These changes may not be apparent at first, but they will happen with extended play sessions.
I just turn it off and then use something like rivatuner statistics server/nvidia inspector to cap the framerate to 60.
How do you get more settlers? I'm stuck with 5.
So is it possible to snap buildings to a grid? Or do I just have to build by sight? Also, I'm having a constant battle with weight. I transferred all my junk to my settlement storage, but it only put me 20 weight below my max carry capacity. I wanted to put all my unused weapons / armour in storage too, but sifting through the menu is too cumbersome. Finally - sorry for all the questions - is there an easier more intuitive way of assigning settlers to certain tasks? I can't find half my settlers cause they wander off ages away and I really need to assign more people to food and defense, but they're nowhere to be fucking found.
can you craft ammo?
Went to target to get a Nuka Cola Quantum apparently they sold out of them right as they opened. Fuck me I'll never to be able to buy one
Are the workbench items synced or are they all separate? Is local leader the perk to get if I want all my shit synced?
A little late but I found the answer:
The eventual goal with settlements is to connect them. To do that, you’ll need to unlock the “Local Leader” perk under the Charisma category. Once you do that, you can assign a settler at each settlement to open a trade route with another settlement. Once you do, you can then access the craftable items from both settlements’ workbenches at the same time.
Pretty useful IMO.
I feel like it's bad I played 8 hours of the game with 30 fps at most and laggy gunfights Gives me a good reason to up my pc, but goddamnit the game is amazing. I really enjoy the dialogue, it makes the game feel more "professional" imo. I'm actually liking my character a shitload. I feel like a detective everytime I talk to someone, and that feels nice. So far what I explored is amazing. There's so many small unmarked locations with huge attention to detail, and various terminals that have some amazing shit to read. Like, they improved on the writing for notes and terminals (and even holotapes) for sure. I fucking love it. You know you love a game series when you are willing to have it barely be playable just to enjoy. No major problems besides the fact I have to run it in windowed borderless to play it, otherwise it crashes on startup...and the fps being subpar in some places.
recruit
Build a generator, then a recruitment radio beacon.
Using geforce experience to fix the resolution locks the fps to 30 :what:

Maybe that's something they'll add later if people continue to suggest it as a feature. You can sort your inventory by value, weight, etc. There's also a button to transfer all junk items. This clears the list of...well junk. Do the settlers not show up on the HUD display?
Here's another resource to more fixes including several possible solutions to those crashing on startup. http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1543988-a-data-vault-of-tweaks-and-fixes-for-the-pc-version/ and Tom's Hardware got around to benchmarking some hardware: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/fallout-4-pc-benchmarks-vsync,30527.html [t]http://media.bestofmicro.com/J/O/538548/original/i3-desktops.png[/t] EDIT: Check out the first link above this ^ Nvidia also posted a very detailed guide to all the settings and it also includes the same ini tweaks as well. http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/fallout-4-graphics-performance-and-tweaking-guide
For what it's worth, getting a Min/Max/Avg of 29/62/50 fps in heavy combat on an R9 390, i5 2500K @ 4.5 GHz, and 8GB RAM using these settings. This is the sort of quality you can expect.
Using geforce experience to fix the resolution locks the fps to 30 :what:
just go in the falloutprefs.ini file and change the height and width there you have to redo it if you open the settings, but otherwise it works fine
Out of interest how many people use the dialogue camera and how many switch it off? I find the fact the character says "uh-huh" every time I try to skip dialogue
I wanna make a character with a forced frown and name him fuckface so it's like he's sad cuz people are always calling him fuckface
