I've been doing sidequests for 15 hours now and just got to Diamond City for the first time about 14.5 hours in. while finding the [sp]Railroad[/sp], I was pretty amazed when the guy in the white shirt was all like "wow! this guy is bloody amazing, he's done this, and this, and this, and this! he's like a fucking champ!" it's so cool that NPC's actually reference things you've actually done that doesn't tie in with that quest or main story at all, these are all optional things I've done. this is so cool. it's also pretty cool that NPC's react to you wearing a power armor in conversations and not just idle chatter.
I've also seen in terminals in completely random raider outposts with messages about my exploits in other places. it's so incredibly cool that the world really notices you even when what you're doing isn't part of the main quest or tied in with any quests at all

you can really tell that Bethesda put a lot of effort into this game and paid attention to the small details
Are there still any plasma weapons? Everyone I see someone play, it's either the pipe, laser or 10mm weapons.

the biggest improvements in newer chips are the internal GPUs being [I]far[/I] better and the chips running cooler due to die shrinks and substantial efficiency improvements.

As I got closer there was an explosion, followed by some Feral Ghouls appearing. Suddenly the game froze and I was teleported about 50 meters back. General Bugthesda experience or something more?

I have a GTX 970 and it ran great until I was in Downtown. In some areas I get like 20 to 30 FPS. I'm not sure what's causing it. I'm not suspecting the amount of detail as it happens in detailed and undetailed areas.
[b]What was better than I thought[/b] are the graphics. Apart from some ugly low-res alpha textures (fire escapes) the game looks just fine to me. I like the amount of colors at clear sky as well as the dark feeling when it rains. My only concern when I watched the release trailer was that the interior lights don't cast shadows but that must have been from the consoles cause they actually do cast shadows (well most of them). I have no idea why they show an inferior version in their trailer.
I hear a lot of [b]people complaining about PS2 era graphics[/b] but that's absolutely nonsense. They don't know how much work goes into creating assets. I think there's a line some games already have crossed at which we put details into assets that nobody will notice as we barely stop and look at them. You need a certain amount of details to make it look believable and Fallout 4 delivers that standard. Not more, not less. There is more to graphics than the resolution of textures. I remember when people in this forum were crying that Franklin's shirt was only 2048x2048 or 1024x1024 so that it was minimally blurry when they zoomed in on the 4k GTA V screenshot.
[b]What was worse than I thought[/b] is the settlement building. Mainly the structure building to be precise. They often don't snap into place the way you want them to be. You also cannot build two wall high walls without a few tricks. The amount of available walls, floors and ceilings is more limited than I thought (there isn't even a wooden wall with a window) and there are random pieces which don't snap at all (like the wooden door frame). I think I wait for modders to correct a lot of these flaws.

I've only found 1 plasma rifle so far, and ammo is ridiculously rare, I've never found any besides at venders, and even then 1 shot costs 30+ caps (lower depending on your perks)
I do recommend a 50. Cal hunting rifle though, nothing like being able to 1 shot raiders
