so i ended up making a separate save and just messing around with perks and materials.
this is with all +damage perks maxed out as well as the best mods in the game.

how do you put a suppressor on this monstrosity
Wait, is there really no -regular- shotgun, the fuck? Actually, you know what? This game has the weirdest breakdown of weaponry I've seen in a long time.
Also why the fuck is armour piercing only available in automatic modes? Who thought that up?
there is a severe lack of weapons in this game, but that's probably because of the customizmoabojajobajoab
I miss New Vegas's ammo types as well, along with bullet crafting. I'm short on most types of ammo constantly and so have to carry around too many different kinds of guns for my liking.
But the game feels a bit soulless I guess? I'm not a fan of the perks system, the balancing is all over the place and the game seems really uninspired in that every new feature seems to be lifted from some other game I've seen which does it better. Mass effect style dialogue wheel - but the dialogue choices aren't as rich. Borderlands style weapon customising - but there aren't particularly many base weapons that I've seen yet, a lot of pipe weapons, and a couple of energy weapons but nothing standard. Settlement building - but not many options. But my main gripe is undoubtedly the plot and the dialogue. It's shallow as anything, really hamfisted and not at all convincing.
Fallout's always been about this amazing world with this great lore - all original and such a great backstory that you can sink your teeth into. For some reason to me Fallout 4 seems almost derivative - very little character to the world, no solid design direction, no good backstories, no good side missions and the list goes on. It's a real shame. Where are all the quests? There are barely any unique side quests. What's with that?

It feels a bit like Stalker SoC to me somehow, especially with the difficulty setting I'm using. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's a bit jarring when coming out of 3 and New Vegas.
I'm at an eye-bleeding 38 hours already, and on the whole I think this is a much better game than fallout 3, at the least. They've corrected most of the faction lore, and the whole institute/android thing is much more compelling and original than the contrived water purifier story in F3. Overall I'm quite liking it, I don't have the sickening feeling of disappointment I get with most of Bethesda's games, though here are a few questionable elements in the game. It's still got that kind of "empty" feeling that Fallout 3 had where there's really nothing but hostiles outside of the town settlements, there's nothing expressly wrong with that I suppose because that's sort of how Fallout 1/2 work, but I would have liked it if there were a larger "green zone" type of thing in the boston core where a big part of the city is mostly non-hostile. There's far too many super mutants, also, which feels like a pretty major setting contrivance given that Vault 87 is like 200 miles away, unless there's a story element there I haven't discovered yet.
As for perks and stuff, I'd say you need to look at the big picture and note that level 20~ in Fallout 3/NV is level 40~ in Fallout 4. You're not really a well-rounded and nuanced character until you hit the 40-60 range, it seems. Which is fine, IMO, once you come to terms with it and adjust to it.

yep seeing this was totally worth fighting like 3 legendary reavers

Because non-autos get armor piercing for free with the non-auto damage perk
I like how the Fat Man is basically just a cheat-mode gun.

I don't know which has more, but there wasn't much weapon variety in Fallout 3 either. It also didn't have a pump action shotgun.
Minutemen question (spoilers)
[sp] why is Preston against me joining the brotherhood when it was offered?[/sp]
Explained by others but:
[sp]Basically, the BoS are seen as invaders this time, and unlike Fallout 3, they are there to hoard the tech for "the greater good." After 3 and both Elder and Sarah Lyons death, the East Coast BoS went back to being like their West Coast counterparts instead of the pseudo-white knights from 3. In short, the BoS of Fallout 4 is basically the same as 1 and 2(and maybe NV), a bunch of xenophobic isolationist pricks.[/sp]
jesus christ entered a building and i was greet by a MASSIVE horde of feral ghouls and a Glowing one that seems to be a REALLY beefed up ghoul, i had to reset like 4 times and wasted all of my ammo and meds but i finally killed them all
I love how ammo is Much more scarce and less abundant, really forces you to scavange everything

So does that mean I can only truly join one of the three factions?
[editline]12th November 2015[/editline]
I found this building, looked like a lighthouse, and on the top there was a button that sounded a very loud Siren.
Apparently that siren spawns an Alpha Deathclaw and a normal Deathclaw and makes them fight the raiders in the settlement nearby.
Guess who won the fight :v:

There was one in New Vegas, though.

it just works

For some reason I'm in both, I don't think either know though.
Just outside of Diamond City, I really get 1 frame every 10 seconds or so..
Is anyone else getting horrendous FPS dips to the 30s in certain areas?
the corvega factory gives me such low frames its nearly unplayable
For some reason I'm in both, I don't think either know though.
At least the Railroad and the Brotherhood have to be mutually exclusive factions like in Skyrim, right?
They both seem to have a common goal, but completely opposite morals and means
Anyone else having issues with CTDs a few minutes after quicksaving with F5? It happened 3 times before I found out that F5ing causes it, as saving normally doesn't cause crashes.
Has anyone found the four fusion cores in the Weston Water Treatment Facility? I've cleared the place out and hit all the switches and I can't fucking find them.

I'd compare it more to bombs in shmups/bullet hells, you really don't want to use them but it's there as an "oh fuck" button.
Also are there any companies that are worth bringing in stealth? Fucking dogmeat gets spotted so often that I'm probably gonna grab the lone wanderer perks.

Whoever it was that was making the .300 Magnum revolver rifle, you don't have to worry about it being too big :v:

There's one for sale at Quincy's, dunno how much is it
is there a console command to access the character creator menu?
I love the laser musket. Load 3 or 4 charges into it and I can one shot super mutants. Such a satisfying gun.

Excuse muddy textures as I am running this on my school computer but...
SWEET. ROLL.
Does the Rifleman perk affect semiautomatic rifles or just the two bolt action rifles? IE, will it affect a semiauto combat rifle or is that the job of Commando?
