DR3 works like DR2 did. The entire game mission structure is coded into one large text file and those missions run dependently on the timer. You could not remove the timer without the game crashing or breaking every single mission.
i did say mod, not strictly remove like just being able to pause it or extend it further would do
i did say mod, not strictly remove like just being able to pause it or extend it further would do
You can *pause* the timer but I believe only cutscenes are able to do that.
Oh yeah my bad so the way to go is to just lame out the boss fights in a tedious, uninteresting way until it's over. Yeah I'm just going to boot up cheat engine and play the game without having to worry about shit boss fights.
Y'know you could do that or quit being whiny and just go get some guns from a safehouse locker or use the many molotovs just laying around on the ground. That fight was pretty easy tbh, but ignoring that, you're complaining about fights designed to be hard being hard. [editline]16th September 2014[/editline]
You can *pause* the timer but I believe only cutscenes are able to do that.
Can you not just set the timer one second back every time it goes a second forward?
Man, I really miss the actual skill moves that 1 and 2 and OTR had. I hate how you have like, 1 or 2 actual moves and the rest are just killstreak bullshit.
Can you not just set the timer one second back every time it goes a second forward?
Nope. Like i said, game missions rely on the timer. If you were to pause or even remove the timer you wouldn't have missions.

double lariat, somersault kick, disembowel, and the responsive knee drop. i don't like how nick sort of kicks his legs in the air before knee dropping. it's just slow. frank slams to the ground as soon as you hit the keys, it's so much more satisfying [editline]17th September 2014[/editline] one thing that dr3 does better move wise is the roll (esp after it's upgraded) and the roundhouse kick.
I actually preferred the old roundhouse kick because I could do it without doing an awkward forward kick first.
Holy fuck the difficulty is pretty much zero on this when you compare it to the first game and it kinda made me notice how video games these days are just easier in general. I've not died once so far unless you count me going on a suicide run before I switched off my rig.
I never died in the entire game, its a little disappointing tbh. The psychos are all complete push overs.
I never died in the entire game, its a little disappointing tbh. The psychos are all complete push overs.
I hear Nightmare mode is harder, have you tried that mode yet?
I hear Nightmare mode is harder, have you tried that mode yet?
It's still incredibly easy, other than the time limit being extremely small.
that video makes me miss disembowel so much
You can disembowel in DR3, but not on a the whim, you can only do it when you get the combo streak going and do that.. I dont' know what that is a execution? Well anyways do it with a weapon that doesn't have a unique execution or barehanded and you're suppose to press another button to do it, I don't remember what it was. Just know pressing the execution button alone, your char like picks up the zombie upsidedown and slams him into the floor another is pushing the zombie forward which is one hella boring move a cool one I like to do alot is when you snap a zombies neck but then proceed to then yank the top of his head off
I actually preferred the old roundhouse kick because I could do it without doing an awkward forward kick first.
You can do kick-punch combos by mixing light and heavy attacks. If you press light attack twice then do a heavy attack he'll do the roundhouse kick.
The boss fights aren't as bad as in previous DRs. But I still think they're shitty.
I just think boss fights in Dead Rising are dumb. The mechanics are far too clunky and slow to make them fun, especially when it requires some fairly precise timing on very slow rolling and good aim. If the game had much better rolling and more responsiveness (ie if it was actually calibrated for combat against fast moving human enemies and not zombies) it'd be a lot more fun to fight these people. Hell, the best way to handle it would even be to have two completely different playstyles depending if you're free roaming killing zombies or in a psycho fight. Also I'm still rather early into the game but so far every single survivor side mission has a been a fetch quest. Fucking seriously ? Dark Souls has hard boss fights but the mechanics are good enough for them to be interesting and actually rely on skill. Dead Rising's bossfights entirely revolve around you dousing the enemy in bullets, using a shitty dodgeroll mechanic to avoid damage and bombarding them some more until they either get stunned so you can do a special attack or they just flat out drop dead.

Attack it, dodge its attacks, possibly use a special attack depending on the game and boss, repeat.
Dead Rising isn't really built for fighting human enemies. Fighting zombies works because they're slow and get stumbled, but most of the human enemy fights turn into a "trade hits until one of you has no health left" back-and-forth. It's always been that way and it's never been a GOOD thing, but I would definitely say that this game has some of the more creative workarounds for that hitch. A lot of people don't like the QTE stun things but I think they're a good way to not make the fights a boring trading hits match.

Rolling is almost overpowered in DR3, especially when you get that upgrade that stops that delay when you finish your roll. Even the final boss was easy for me because you can just roll out of the way of absolutely everything with no consequences if you fuck up the roll
Is my pc terrible or something? Intel i7 3610QM CPU 2.30Ghz 16 gigs ram Geforce GTX 660M 2 gigs Getting 20-30 fps on low Maaaan

The game requires some pretty beefy specs but it does look good. For some reason the tactical handgun specifically (and no other source of light in the game) makes my PC go haywire in the first few seconds of pulling it out. After a short while it fixes itself, but it's still really weird.

If anyone wants to attempt to do co-op feel free to add me on steam.
I'd coop but I gotta finish the story first. I don't like doing playthroughs of games in coop unless they're designed around it or I get bored without it.

Nvidia released new drivers. Some people say that it fixed the random crashing for them.
I fixed the crashes by reverting to an older driver. If anyone does download this one, could you please report back and tell us if it's any good?
I managed to play for about 25 mins before my computer crashed. Idk if it's the game, driver or my OS that did it.
