FINALLY RELEASED Download Black Mesa Overview: The concept for a remake of Half-Life started in 2004 when a group of modders and displeased fans decided Half-Life: Source was a bad port and didn't make full use of the Source Engine's capabilities. In the beginning, two separate teams had formed for the project, Leakfree, and the Half-Life: Source Overhaul Project. Upon realizing each others' existence, the two teams merged to begin work on Black Mesa Source in 2005. After seven years of work, the game was finally released on September 14th, 2012, albeit without the Xen chapters. Locations: As depicted in the original game, Black Mesa is set in and around the Black Mesa Research Facility, a decommissioned Cold War-era complex transformed into a research base. Funded by the United States government, the Black Mesa Corporation works on anything from basic chemistry to teleportation to rocketry to alien studies. Deeper within the complex, the past of the Research Facility becomes apparent in its myriad of abandoned ICBM silos, tunnels, and storage facilities. Black Mesa Uncut: They're remakes for the cut areas that weren't in On a Rail and Surface Tension. In order to increase the game's challenge, the capabilities of the Source Engine's advanced AI has been utilized to deliver a complex combat environment throughout the game. However, the player can also command 'squads' of survivors, such as security guards and scientists, which can be very useful in larger fights. Any creatures or enemies featured in Half-Life: Opposing Force or Half-Life: Blue Shift are not included. This includes Race X. Weapons and Items: Black Mesa includes many of the weapons included in the original Half-Life, ranging from the basic Glock to the experimental Tau Cannon. Many of the weapons have been rebalanced from the original game: for example, the SPAS-12's ammo capacity has been reduced from 125 shells to 30. The series' trademark H.E.V. Mark IV Suit is obviously included, along with health and armor chargers, health kits, batteries, and ammo found from slain enemies or lying around the complex. Source Engine Features: The mod utilizes many features of the Source Engine 2007, including achievements, cinematic physics, a face generation system, and an NPC interaction system. Shame to see my thread gone. Oh well.
I'm torn between playing through this or Rot-Life first. Rot-Life's immensely challenging in terms of gameplay and avoiding insanity, so I might download this sometime soon. I was going to try downloading this on its release date, but I was busy playing AOM and there were too many people trying to torrent it. I assume it's worth the sizable download for someone with very limited downloads?

It's quite tough by the time you fight the soldiers, and they redid everything so it's very nice and smooth in terms of gameplay. Overall it's a really great mod, just not quite finished.
The title should be "They're STILL working on Xen?" I don't really like the HECU voices. They just don't have the same intensity as the originals.
Anyone has the default scientist skin? I forgot to back it up. Thanks in advanced.
Anyone has the default scientist skin? I forgot to back it up. Thanks in advanced.
Yeah give me a minute. [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/home/Public/scientists [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] Probably should have put that in a rar :v: [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] Video is done, finally. was going to wait for xen to play through this again, but decided fuck it, i'll play it now. knowing the bms team's work ethic, by the time Xen comes out I'll want to play it again another time. :P [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] to spice things up a bit I'll install surface tension uncut and play in HARD MODE

I can recommend some, although a few of mine are just modified versions of other people's work :v:
What? Still working on Xen? How many years will that take?
What? Still working on Xen? How many years will that take?
Valve time?:v:
All that's missing is the engineer.

I don't own the balaclava model but I did modifications to the textures. Also zoom in to the shotgun. It doesn't have a stock on .
Rot-Life? Going to have to look that up. Yes, it is worth it. I installed Surface Tension Uncut and On a Rail uncut, now those chapters crash after the first map. I just extracted the zips like he said to do, is there something I somehow fucked up or is this a known problem?
Did you start a new game?
Uh...no. I've been loading saves or starting one chapter before. On a Rail seems to crash even if I start from the beginning of the chapter though.
Uh...no. I've been loading saves or starting one chapter before. THIS WILL CAUSE WEIRD BUGS WHICH YOU WOULD NOT OTHERWISE FIND ON MY MAPS. If you report a bug which happens because of an old savegame (and these bugs are VERY obvious), I will know you didn't read this readme, and I won't help you. Harsh? Maybe. But please, always read readmes.
Also OAR technically isn't finished yet so I dunno.
I'll try starting from the very very beginning. I've been meaning to do a complete second playthrough anyways. We'll see if it works then.
I'll try starting from the very very beginning. I've been meaning to do a complete second playthrough anyways. There's no transition to the next map or chapter yet.
Yeah, the latest version of OAR includes the alpha for the B1 map, but the B2 map isn't finished yet. B1 is supposed to lead into B2, but since it can't, it'll just stop at a dead-end. [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] So, this is up now: http://blackmesa.gamebanana.com/sounds/19419
@Mr. Someguy The link you provided for the scientist default skin can't be found. Can you upload it somewhere else? Thanks!
Try this one https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/87931465/scientists.rar
I'll try starting from the very very beginning. I've been meaning to do a complete second playthrough anyways. We'll see if it works then.
I wouldn't. OaR Uncut is still in Alpha and isn't intended for proper playthroughs yet, or even for the general public. Hence why it's ONLY been posted on the Black Mesa forums, and why it ends in a dead end at the end of C2A2B1. If you're intent on doing a full playthrough, I suggest you do so without OaR Uncut, or if you would REALLY like to see some of OaR Uncut on a full playthrough, you can install just the first Alpha. The second part of the Alpha is not complete yet, so installing that prevents you from being able to finish OaR entirely. The first Alpha does not have this problem, you can still finish the game with it installed.
Thanks Mr. Someguy! :v:
Are you still caught in your studies?
Very much so. I have one month to go before university is finished for good, then I have 2 weeks or so dedicated to finishing off the Uncut projects, before moving on to finding a real job. This means there won't be any major progress on the OaR front until the end of May, basically. Stuff will still get done, and I predict I might be able to finish off the B alpha in 2 weeks or so, but no guarantees.
So I attempted to get one of Romka's Marines in my game, I took a random model (hgrunt4) from my old OC install, distributed the model and textures as they were in OC, edited the character_manifest, and went to see if it worked. I got little "ERROR" on the ground with a floating gun that rapidly zipped around the map, occasionally stopping to shoot a ~3 second burst. Dang :v:
got it [editline]28th April 2013[/editline] Broke something else though, half my troops have NVG's now, what even- [editline]28th April 2013[/editline] Also a bunch of my troops have ammo pouches now too, can't tell if my memory is awful (it is) or if it was always that way.

I only want the body with bms head, gasmask. The textures also need more details in order to fit properly with Black Mesa. Looks a bit cartoony if compared to everything else in the game. Anyone noticed the floating cigar?
please perfect these and release them
I could probably release the code, but I dunno about the model. It's Romka's and even though it's easy to get it form Obsidian Conflict, he was and may still be very protective of his work. Besides that, the cigar in gas mask was fixed, at least.
