Is there a known bugs list, or some place where i can report bugs? Because there are a few, but i don't know if you are already aware of them or not.
Could you guys consider making the shotgun altfire gib things? Also there are some issues with the waterfalls in MP maps, sometimes the waterfall renders through the water particles and makes it kinda look bad and it alternates and kind of makes it flicker.

-snip- It's fine, we talked it out and he was a nice chap.
This is old. And it is also fixed and will be solved with the upcoming patch!
What exactly caused that one if you don't mind me asking?
What exactly caused that one if you don't mind me asking?
I would assume the code that swayed the players vision in X direction didn't move it all the way back from the starting position, so eventually it would wombo itself.
Something is off, I can't tell what.
so is the crowbar supposed to swing that fast? I know it swung fast in half life but that speed is kind of ridiculous
I am in agreement that the crowbar needs to calm its shit down.
so is the crowbar supposed to swing that fast? I know it swung fast in half life but that speed is kind of ridiculous
I have to kill fast and bullets too slow.
Imported new black mesa maps into source filmmaker instead of using the free DLC selector from steam (which has only a few maps and probably old from the mod version).
Anyone else feels like the entire sequence at the end of Anomalous Materials needs refinement? The HL one had some build up with how drawn out it was and it kind of sounded better in a way. With BM they have that first laser so freaking loud where it overpowers absolutely everything else going on. All the sound just kind of blends together in the background to where it's just white noise, and when you plunge the crystal in it's like the whole thing kinda just happens. [editline]14th May 2015[/editline] Basically the whole thing looked and sounded more powerful in HL I guess is how I should put it, imo. Don't know if that's ever crossed anyone else's mind.
wrong
You're looking at HL1 too nostalgically. Use that link I posted and play only the HL1 and then the BM, separately. HL1 feels so empty in comparison.
That's part of what makes it so ominous though, to me anyways. You can very clearly see it in that darkened room with the green creeping in. The sprites are pretty focused and with how the lighting acts it almost turns that machine around the focal point into a darkened silhouette. The sounds are shitty quality and pretty generic but they all stand out from each other pretty well and they actully have some oomph to them with that creeping undertone. Like you can clearly tell some very bad shit is about to go down where with BM, like I said, it just kinda happens. Maybe I am looking at HL too nostalgically though; I was wrong about it being quicker.
I can sort of see what you mean in that HL's sequence has more of a surreal and mysterious quality to it while BM's is kind of all over the place, so to speak.
Does the early access not have xen?
Why the fuck are they selling it for $20 without Xen? Isn't that what we were waiting since mod for?
Yeah I don't really get it I thought xen was put off for retail deliberately and if the game still ends at the same spot that's at least a year or so wait for still not being able to finish it Edit: Here comes the lynching over "it's early access goyim"
Why the fuck are they selling it for $20 without Xen? Isn't that what we were waiting since mod for?
because they can't afford to work on xen in any reasonable amount of time without funding to do more development instead of other jobs xen is going to be much larger than in the original half-life; it isn't a weekend project without funding it took them 10 years to make everything but xen [editline]15th May 2015[/editline] also, the maps in this paid version are better than the mod version, and there is now multiplayer with imminent modding support
Would they be able to get away with copy pasting half life source xen till the real shits done
I'm sure it is I'm just surprised Xen isn't there because I thought that they were holding off till it could be beaten even if the later levels are fucked up, and MP is in so I thought they were done with at least playable maps of the finales [editline]15th May 2015[/editline]
that would hurt their reputation more than not releasing Xen would, because many people would mistake it for the final version of Xen. Plus, a mod already did that same thing for the free version, but I think they never finished it.
Damn retards ruined my games placeholders again [editline]15th May 2015[/editline] At about what point would BM end and what level would I open in HLsrc to continue
I'm sure it is I'm just surprised Xen isn't there because I thought that they were holding off till it could be beaten even if the later levels are fucked up, and MP is in so I thought they were done with at least playable maps of the finales
They may be, that doesn't mean they're comfortable with what they've got, though. They seem to really not like the original levels, from what I can tell from their interviews.
Reading some of the reviews posted here , and with a good touch of nostalgia, I feel compelled to opine : Today I'm 23 , I do not know the age of majority here, but believe it to be the same age , I remember when I first played Half Life , I must have been 9 or 10 years and was a very silly boy I played because I saw Half Life in the Counter Strike folder (my cousin had installed for me) , and with my silly mind I think the HL game icon very cool (the iconic Lambda symbol). My computer at the time was an archaic Celeron 900 with 128MB Ram, with a jurassic HD 40 running Windows 98. And here in Brazil, in my small city, believe me, at the time was the BEST technology. Anyway, I started playing, I found the wonderful graphics, very realistic for the time, the part of the tram at the beginning, fantastic, explore labs and lose myself in Anomalous Materials? Splendid. I reached the stage Unforessen Consequences, and started walking through the wreckage of Black Mesa, the sounds echoed, sirens, made me feel panic, I was really scared, I felt there, I felt so guilty for killing those friendly scientists, ahh the mind of a child ... Each siren and flashing light, every explosion my heart was in his mouth, it still Unforessen Consequences. But ... when the first headcrab appeared, I jumped from the chair and hid under the bed and pissed in bed at night. I SWEAR. I don't touch in the game for years in fear, but when I was 13 years more experienced and less fearful, I decided to play again, I have finished, and today I can say, changed my life completely and it is the best game of all time. I agree with some guys here, unfortunately, Black Mesa has lost much of that sense of fear that HL1 could bring, I do not know if it's because we are now adults, or are used to scares, or actually HL1 despite the simple graphics could bring us astutely the sense of panic, fear and the portrait of a fictional disaster so convincingly
There's also the fact they have plans to introduce larger changes to Xen than the other chapters, Xen will receive the most gameplay changes of all chapters in the game. They said in a livestream that one of the plans was to include hints to Half-Life 2, including brand new enemies from Half-Life 2 that would make sense in Xen's environment and state, such as Combine synth who are fighting the escaping Xen aliens as well as, presumably, antlions, since they're also from Xen but are never seen in HL1. They also want to add completely new and original areas not seen in HL1.
Please, no to all that synth/combine stuff. For starters, it would contrast horribly with the rest of Black Mesa which is a faithful recreation that only expands slightly on small canonical elements, mainly Eli, Kleiner, and the Casserole Incident. Secondly, the story works better with the Combine's existence in Half-Life being very subtle. The Nialanth's "We are their slaves" line along with his own cyborganic appearance is all that is needed. The overall story is better for it as the player puts the pieces together in Half-Life 2 through the Singing Vortigaunt.
Idk how to feel about a Combine presence in Xen. It was already stated that Xen was a place they couldn't or wouldn't go. I wouldn't mind maybe some vague inklings of combine tech in the factory areas that I presume will still be there. Most synths look animal derived, and I wouldn't mind seeing extrapolations of what they originally looked like. But the idea of seeing gunships and striders in Xen really breaks their reveal in HL2. What really interests me, if Xen is being radically redesigned and tied closer to HL2, if Valve would accept it as canon over the original.
Any ideas on when On a Rail:Uncut and Surface Tension: Uncut will be uploaded to the workshop?
I may be in the minority but I never thought HL1 was scary, ever. Even at the time. Just seemed like a retread of a Doom-like story (teleporter accident causes creatures to invade, chaos ensues) from a different perspective. It's not finalized, the devs haven't decided on anything. It's a proposal. And, from a lore perspective, their idea made sense. It lined up pretty well with the official story and what happened that connects HL1 to HL2. The only reason to oppose it is if you are a HL1 purist.
I love HL1 and HL2 equally because there are elements that make them separate games. Canonically, HL1 should have antlions and HL2 should have bullsquids and houndeyes. But both games benefit from having elements to distinguish one another. With BM being a source game, those elements that separate it from HL2 are even more important. Playing BM made me want to play through HL2 again. Making me appreciate the difference between the gameplay of HL1 Xenian enemies from HL2 Xenian enemies.
The reason the Xen aliens invaded Earth was because they wanted to escape the Combine. It's canon that the Combine had begun to take over Xen before the Black Mesa incident. You just never see them in HL1.
I suppose that's fair, I was under the impression that Xen was safe, but just sucked really bad for whatever lived there. So obviously Earth looked better if the opportunity arised. I guess its just my one caveat, if synths do end up in Xen they arent as interesting in HL2, even if we don't fight them. Obviously we can't expect to see choppers and soldiers.

I wouldn't be opposed to a few new synths. Maybe pull the super soldiers from rtb into the mix.
I'm kind of iffy about adding too much new stuff to the game. I'm worried that it'll go too far into fan fiction territory and can be easily rendered non-canon by story details we're not aware of yet.
