Black Mesa Source V5 - "They're still working on Xen?"

-snippie- nevermind, figured it out.
just finished the game and i gotta say, i'm head-over-heels in love with it. it felt awesome all the way through, although i did have some problems with the marines (i think i just suck at managing health though).
my favorite segment had to be Lambda Core. the visuals were really nice there, and everything about that place just feels really high-tech in comparison to the rest of the facility. also had a hoot of a time with the multiplayer so far, i hope the community for it takes off.
Why was the ability to dive out of the train at the beginning of Apprehension (or even moving in it for that matter) removed, it's kinda dull that you can't even duck to avoid getting shot to pieces, and also being forced to go through an area you always had a choice to skip entirely.
Does the retail BMS have the hazard course?
No but a third party mod team is remaking the hazard course for Black mesa and it will be available on the steam workshop when it's finished.
if he played anything but CoD crouch jumping should be an innate skill at this point, its been in pretty much every shooter since quake
I know I don't know why people bitch about crouch jumping.
Honestly the baby headcrabs were unpleasant to fight, regular ones would be far preferable.
I actually liked fighting them they were more of a challenge then the regular head crabs were. But the head crabs in hl1 are way harder than the head crabs in hl2 because they take two or three hits with the crowbar and in hl2 they only take one hit.

I remember that stupid video back when the mod first came out two years ago talk about loss of braincells.
I know I don't know why people bitch about crouch jumping.
Because it's pointless. We can already jump, what's the point effectively of having another jump which is a minuscule amount higher? It requires no effort to do, isn't fun, and in general is just pointless.
HL2 has auto crouch jump, I'm not sure if it has been there since release, but it is there now.
I noticed it the other day when trying to get in an air vent on the canals level
HL2 has auto crouch jump.
I think it's for consoles and gamepads.

What are you talking about?! I just did it!
I think it's for consoles and gamepads.
You would think they would have tied that to the controller configure file instead of leaving it default.

Uuhh, I was able to do it, although is true that I just made it go forward, then inmediatly jump just before the scene happened.
It's a shame how easy it is to abuse the specops AI to just line themselves up for your crosbow, ever thought of just locking that door once you enter the container room?

I'm going to tweak this. Enjoy it while you can!

the point is so that the character isn't gordon freeman the rocket boot man
it also affects animations in multiplayer so it makes sense visually
Crouch jumping also gives a lot more air control, which can be nice for making precision jumps, or of course for tau jumping.

You must be a console gamer than.

While others already commented on this, it's basically extra control that a lot older games did for more precison. The original release of Black Mesa was pretty bad about how short your jumps were, and while it's improved here in the release version, they put in the auto-crouch jump feature as an optional toggle for those who don't quite get it (and it's on by default). Still there's no real reason to remove it all the same.
I don't think HL2 has auto crouch jump but it plops you on top of the obstacles if you jump and keep moving forward. BM removed this feature for some reason but kept HL2 jump height which caused all the problems.
Any plans to eventually fix some of the sourcetv stuff? the main spec hud is broken, and will crash when you arrow up on camera settings:

Also, the names don't update unless you open the scoreboard

Whenever I play the game, it crashes at the first loading screen. Also, the settings (visual, etc) reset themselves whenever I restart.

I disable it since I'm so used to crouch jumping in games it's still good for noobs though.

What are the specs of your PC?

Nice. Just off-handedly insult me without actually refuting my points whatsoever. I've not played on a console for over a year and don't have a next-gen console.
My point is, normal jumping is useless. It doesn't jump as high and can't go into small gaps. From a gameplay perspective, there's literally no purpose of normal jumping as it's worse in any way and not really that much easier than crouch jumping.

man let's not argue about it it's a long-standing feature and people want it to stay in. it's not gonna get taken out.
I'm a fan of how newer games such as Dishonored contextually use the jump key to climb over ledges. I wonder if the next half life title will change the jumping?
if he played anything but CoD crouch jumping should be an innate skill at this point, its been in pretty much every shooter since quake
I don't know what you're talking about. Crouch jumping hasn't been a requirement in most shooters for quite some time.

Seems like a fair trade-off for going invisible and absolutely shredding my health.

Tch, maaaaaan.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing climbing over certain objects in the game but I'd still want crouch jumping as well.
in the mod version since you're not really gonna need the RPG for anything else at that point in the game I just use it as a ninja-removal tool
I made some skins, but they are many, post only the best with my comments, If they are bad, I accept criticism, but please be kind and polite.

I always thought that the gauss gun was too dark, not even remember the original.
I decided to lighten it a little, put some duracell and soon I will add more details.

1- An enhanced server, viewers are now more visible, some parts of the textures are photos from an HP-Proliat server converted to textures, the symbol of DALsystems was redone from scratch (I will redone the bump map that is strange too).
2- In the second image ever noticed that the buttons were erased, was barely sees them, I decided to rewrite ONE BY ONE, all consoles, ALL of them, missing a few buttons of course, and I wrote a lot of technological nonsense because he had no idea what to write who have good ideas to write buttons, suggest here.
3- Yes, I messed up here, the keypad is on the contrary, I will fix this, but there are also details of a HP-Prolinat here, a reworked control and DALsystems symbol here, but I intend to do some different little things, suggestions?

One thing I've always been fascinated was the visual art of the ancient Half Life, Black Mesa has lost much of that style, after all, of course, is an adaptation. I decided to return some of that, this texture is 100% animated, giving a beautiful look and feel of nostalgia to the game.

I decided to readjust the gloves to a style combining carbon fiber and the cryfibril Crysis so that the glove stayed similar to fan film Half Life Origins.
Special Thanks: Hawkshadow741 for Cryfibril black texture.

A classic style scientist with a nice tie. An old mod passed to this new version.
