Is this happening to anyone else in Singleplayer ? My HEV hands changed to the recently added zombie hands for Multiplayer :v:
Couldn't find a console command related to viewmodels so I don't know how to fix that yet.
Check the change notes, the latest update broke saved games.

Sorry, I think I missed that note when reading it.

It's not really "latest update" so much as "any update". We've found out the hard way that single player saves and updates do not get along well in Source at all. There's not a whole lot we can do, we've tried to be careful to avoid bricking saves by only touching certain things and parts of the data tables but it doesn't seem to help.
I guess that's just one of the things that comes with being early access and playing a game that's in very active development, I guess. Once the game is actually released, we won't brick saves anymore.
Oh wow Thats pretty funny actually.
Why not add a console cmd to enable a zombie gordon model as a gimmick?
Holy Jesus, Ferdam you still exist?

Uh, yeah... it's just that I rarely post here (in FP), most time I post in the CSGO thread. Anyway, been tracking this thread for a long time.
So the multiplayer is really active right now, right?
I'm about to buy this.

I wouldn't say "really active," but I can always find a game when I want to play it (which is often, the game is fun!)
We're building community. It's all a work in progress!
Reverted the tram back to the original 1-car style. The DREADNAUGHT is no longer ingame, we felt that while it was fun, it was too buggy to be reliable or useful.
darn..
So there's been one hacker in particular (STEAM_0:1:31433530) that's been running around the MP since launch, and he's really driving people insane. He's tau shooting through walls and in the air, and VAC won't pick him up. Can we get rid of him via Steam gamebans, Chon?
Well, it turns out the engine isn't different enough for my VAC to not block me a la gmod/l4d :v:
need response, would any of you recommend BLACK MESA to new players in the half life franchise?, you know those who wasnt there in the 90's and didnt play the first one, im sure these guys arent used to old graphics of the 90's, and they would start looking for graphic enhancement, and if thats the case, the answer for them would be BLACK MESA, but do you really recommend this game to new players?

When it's finished, I would recommend it. It's still a solid buy though right now.

I don't know. I thought we couldn't. We've never put anything in place for this, but maybe Steam has something and we don't know about it. I'll ask Deniz, our release engineer/lead programmer. He'll know.

I would always recommend both. They make you appreciate one another. I really think playing BM without having played HL is a rather lesser experience, personally. Though of course I'd always recommend BM, because, it's BM, man.
I bought retail (it was on sale why the hell not) and I love DM! It's such a blast!
I'm trying to avoid playing SP for now, but I'm looking for singleplayer mods that I can play in the meantime. bm_bravado is a great choice, and there's an empty recreation of the hospital map from opposing force here if you want to explore it.
I think Black Mesa is more fun to play through once you've beaten Half Life. Then you really get to appreciate all the little touches and see how certain areas were redesigned or kept the same.

Please make a map entity or console command to change the view models hands, this will make modding and custom maps where you play as someone other than Gordon alot easier.

Also Consider adding the HECU insignia on the other arm so it's not as bland.

This is not a problem to fix.

Mr. Someguy, You do not know why the model does not appear in the scenes?

While the original Half-Life is old it's still a great game for 1998 and is still quite enjoyable today. It's also one of the first highly moddable games besides Doom and quake. It was also one of the first fps games to actually have a full fledged story and no cutscenes to interrupt the game since everything happens in real time. Even when I first played the game back in 2007 I was impressed since I was too young to play it when it came out. I recommend you play it before you play Black Mesa to fully appreciate it. Plus it's a great classic from the late 90's you can also install custom skins and models to improve the game before you get Black Mesa.
Yeah, luckily you can find plenty of mods to spice up HL if you think it's ugly or anything like that.
Brutal Half Life is actually kind of fun for just running through killing everything quickly.

Weird, I remember Valve talking about how robust their save system was, originally it was used as a bug testing system, they would save near a bug, and after their code update, they'd go back and load to see if it was still happening.

Usually at least one server with full 16 players, expect a lot of foreigners playing (I have no idea why).
If you can, 6~ players seems to be the best experience, 8 is good, but more than 12 is just bad.

I wish somebody would make a hd skin pack for brutal Half-life that would be awesome with this skin pack. http://www.moddb.com/mods/diamond-half-life-final

This is a cool idea. I'll run it by one of our programmers.

It is good for testing, for that reason. But not for a regularly updated game to the public. I don't think any other Source singleplayer game (at least to my knowledge) has ever been publicly updated to the extent our game already has, so it was probably never built for that purpose.

This has been an interesting conversation on the MP team. About half the level designers think 16 players it the ideal experience because it offers loads of crazy deathmatch chaos and action. Others (such as myself, and yourself) prefer lower player counts, where things are more ordered and competitive feeling. Depends on the map too. I think it's a matter of taste.

Yeah, I ran into Cornet awhile back when the voice update came out:

That's sort of typical 16 player combat, I was actually second or third place, you constantly get killed because you don't have time to reload or grab a healthpack.
The voice chat also doesn't display names, I was told it's coming soon(tm). We really need it though, so I can mute 90% of the people talking.
can anyone help? whenever I try to open hammer.exe, hlmv, or any of the tools I get - "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item."

I love how detailed the sound design is
Little things like the distant gunshots and screams in QE make the game have so much more depth, as if the soldiers are still killing scientists in the building, or the sound of perpetual gunfire and explosions in the distance in ST. The world sounds way more alive and active
I know that not everyone here take requests but...
Could someone please convert to the Black Mesa this MP5?
http://hl2.gamebanana.com/skins/44055
If I'm not mistaken (I could be wrong), the IIopn had converted this model to animation revamp pack, however, is with Animation Revamp hands, and not the new hands of Black Mesa.
I will love to see this MP5 in the current hands.
Thank you in advance.
If you can not take my request, I understand.
I always liked that model. It's a shame how garbage a lot of the guns in HL2 are though. The SMG is a bullethose that can't hit anything past 5 feet. Half Life had that problem as well a little, but it feels like it got a lot worse in HL2, maybe because of the bigger maps.

HL1's MP5 is even more of a garbage than HL2's MP7. It has even wider spread (6 deg. vs MP7's 5 deg.) and slower rate of fire (600 RPM vs MP7's 800 RPM). It doesn't help that HECU Marines are more accurate than Combine Soldiers. The only upsides of MP5 are slightly bigger damage per bullet (negated by slower rate of fire) and 10 grenades for the launcher.
