i feel like it should be a bit thicker and more armored, right now it just looks like the top of his head is a different color
nah it looks fine, i also like how he removed the speedo and replaced it! looks just perfect for alien armory, it just needs a helmet, a little bit smaller mouth and thats all

no. i started working on this one
*snipped*
but i'm still not satisfied so i'll keep coming up with different designs
also i made the third arm bigger and longer so he can operate consoles/machinery/etc.
Update: gave him a hl1 styled hivehand

IIopn released his glock animation for BM. Though the problems I had with the original video (reload animation doesn't feel tense enough for heavy combat, and the firing animation is a little wobbly) are still there, I quite like it regardless. Nab it if you want it.
He hints in the description he'd like to make more, I really want to see a Magnum from him because I absolutely love the several revolver animations he's made.
actually speaking of the glock, I mounted BM to Gmod and looked at the viewmodels out of curiosity

The viewmodels are apparently bigger than a person, which explains why they look so sexy ingame. No, this isn't a fake perspective shot. In fact, I was trying my hardest to not make it look like that
how did you mount BM in Gmod?
how did you mount BM in Gmod?
Go to your gmod directory and head over to the cfg folder
In this folder there will be a file called "mount.cfg", which controls the games you allowed gmod to share. Open the file and add this line under the list of games you've mounted:
"bms" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Black Mesa\bms"
Make sure you omit the double forward slashes all of the other directories have in the list. One important thing to note; obviously since its a game gmod doesn't have mount support for (yet, probably), you need to click the 'All' section in the 'Browse' menu. Through this you will now be able to spawn every BM prop, map prop, and character ragdolls, but not NPCs.
Last note: Do NOT attempt to load the maps, it will crash Gmod due to differing .bsp versions. I'm not too experienced with mapping, but if you opt into BM's public beta, you can get all the source .vmfs for the maps and recompile into a version Gmod's source engine version can read.
Edit: Last last note: This only works if you have purchased the game.

I'm not certain that would work, their .bsp format differs for a reason. They customized the format to meet the demands of their maps.
Alternately, you could try using the maps from the mod version.

The helmet is going fine but I wonder. Why did you decide to change the shoulder pads? This is just me but I find them too angular.

now they should really consider hiring you in the BM team, also just a question, are you planning to render this? just asking.

yeah i do plan on rendering it.

people keep bringing that up, i'll change them back to something along the lines of the first design.
[editline]21st August 2015[/editline]
played around with the armor.

i figured it's made of some really bizarre xenian metal so i tried to make that evident in the design by giving it weird reflective properties. i changed the shoulder pads back to my original design apart from a few changes. i also matched him to the original hl1 colors.
what do you guys think?
I wish the devs saw this design YEARS ago. Looks way more true to the original while still fixing the issues of the low poly model.
(I'm kind of sad the devs went with the default slave Vortigaunt model from Episode 2. The diapers looks more techy which fits the Combine but the Xenians had more fancy tech. Then again we can blame it on low poly models and Nihilanth did run from Combine so maybe he used some of their tech, too. Still, I'm glad you used the diapers with the Agrunt to keep the style.)

lets just hope MentaR renders it and uploads it to BM workshop replacing the BM Agrunts, no need to ask BM devs to change their Agrunts when you can download another off the workshop.
thought i'd let you guys know that me and a friend are going to start modelling the agrunt this week.
thought i'd let you guys know that me and a friend are going to start modelling the agrunt this week.
Darn, was hoping for a shot at modeling it myself. Oh well, best of luck to you guys, sure it'll come out spectacularly.
I smell workshop bestseller
If the model turns out well enough It'd be awesome to have it implemented officially
If the model turns out well enough It'd be awesome to have it implemented officially
i dont think so, some people still like the BM grunts and i dont want to interrupt their opinions, replacing them will be a huge mistake, like i said, best to just download it off the workshop, theres really no problem with that is there?
I was digging through the game's sound files and I just love this line for the ST Barney who opens the parking garage door for you: "They're gonna bomb this place back to the 8-bit era, doc! Let's move already!"
I smell workshop bestseller
rip gun nut, was nice while it lasted
[sp]srsly tho I'd dl this shit in a heartbeat[/sp]
Vortigaunts should have their rough skin back to tell something to the story. They changed G-man's clothes so why not the vorts' skin?
You would need custom anims for this. Bms agrunt anims differ in proportions and they also somehow literally worse than hl1s, placeholder-tier material. A lot of bms animations are pretty bad actually, but agrunt is special kind of bad, as if modeler with no prior experience in animation did them. Very choppy, unnatural movements.
yeah i know. eventually i'll find someone.
I feel kind of bad for neglecting my More Accurate Shotgun mod (stopped updating it after a few balance tweaks), as I only now just realised how many people are using it. :suicide:

You still should submit that Gun Nut logo or whatever to the CSGO workshop man, it'd fit so goddamn well as a sticker or something.

What, something like this?

[sp]I've literally never played / owned a single CS game so I had to do a bit of research :v[/sp]
It's probably a good idea to change the magnum in its hands to a pistol / something more CSGO-related.

You could probably do it as the square sticker, or possibly just the peanut holding a gun with the text floating above it.

This link for the official sticker guide on CSGO's workshop has more information on how to set it up, but you'll obviously need CSGO.

Oh, alright, so sorta like this, then?

[sp]also I'll stop posting this here now, sorry for getting off-topic[/sp]
I just noticed that Impulse 101 also gives you weapon_assassin_glock, which prevents you from using the normal Glock because it's in the same slot.
Just released a teaser for Black Mesa Insecurity if anyone here is interested in the Blue Shift remake :)
