Not sure what to think about the new gluon gun. Not bad but I feel like there's something missing. New crossbow is pretty good though
The old gluon is much better imo
Texture details. Texture details is what's missing.
The new model has a lot of detail in the texture. Far more than the old one ever did. The old model had pseudo-detail. 50% of the obvious texture detail on the old one just came from noise in the specular. It doesn't look good, nor does it look like something made in a lab. And it was very low res, you can see the blurriness in the scratches/dirt. The new one has a very subtle and nice sheen to it, and a much cleaner, more actually metallic look - much more along the lines of what you'd expect from something that likely cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make. Additionally, I don't think the texture is 100% complete yet. I believe it still has further work planned on it. I wouldn't knock it till you've tried it, though. It doesn't look so favourable in that small image but in game, everyone on the team agrees the new Gluon is a lot better. It's also much higher poly, too.

That car actually got hit with such explosive kinetic force that it regressed back into the last generation of computer graphics.
I'm pretty sure it was confirmed that the guy who made this screenshot was running at his lowest settings, and it's actually a really low LOD or something
No, because I was running at max settings and I'm the one who took the picture
Max except AA and AF apparently. [editline]7th November 2015[/editline] Yeah it is that bad
No, because I was running at max settings and I'm the one who took the picture
thats weird, I remember seeing that picture before and developers response to that wait a sec [editline]7th November 2015[/editline] I can't find it. Perhaps it wan't in this thread but in BMS forums, but I'm sure that I've seen it already
I loaded the map and looked, it does look like that even when maxed. [editline]7th November 2015[/editline] [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/388794112015562917/13B2EB90C92C5F0E888C81618A34866895180CF1/[/t]
If anyone is interested I just released a single player Black Mesa map "Communications Detour". You can find it on the workshop here http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=550171554&searchtext= Some screens: [img_thumb]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/29/28485/communications_detour0009.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/29/28485/communications_detour0017.1.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/29/28485/communications_detour0015.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/29/28485/communications_detour0011.jpg[/img_thumb]

It gives me a map called opposing_desert.bsp and it's fullbright and messed up.
Download from the workshop doesn't work for me. It give's me a map called opposing_desert.bsp and it's fullbright and messed up.
Oh shi. I will fix it now. Works now, thanks EDIT: I'm liking the start, it's very op4 esque
I don't know why Black Mesa modding still hasn't taken off like Half-Life's and probably never will. Could it hyst be the additional effort and time needed because of the higher fidelity? Is it because Black Mesa and Source aren't quite as flexible as Goldsrc? Cause I thought workshop would have been the key but looking through it now for the first time since the Steam release most of what's on there is cosmetic. [editline]7th November 2015[/editline] Could also be that Hammer is the fucking devil
Could be because many modmakers feel biased about their work not becoming worthwhile and/or recognized as much, as Black Mesa is not an official title. And source modding in general has been in a sharp decline for a while now, the engine is becoming increasingly outdated.
It's a shame too, I love playing custom maps for BM

[editline]7th November 2015[/editline] Could also be that Hammer is the fucking devil
Well half-life 1 was in another period of gaming and it was much more fascinating. Now we have an outdated engine and the devil as you said. I tried to make maps so many times but the fucking bugs and all the engine versions and all that crap are so fucking frustrating that I just give up.
I tried making a custom SP map but because I'm shit at mapping I gave up.

Im sorta on and off making some maps for BM. I usually make remakes though
Oh shi. I will fix it now.
Thoughts on your map: the vent next to the elevator can be used as a hiding spot from the grunts still since you can stack two of those cubicle walls, and the passageway itself leads to a ladder and door which barely makes sense placement wise. The "ending" is also bugged as the last door doesn't open, even when the apache is destroyed. Still pretty good though.

You[sp]back track through the entire level to push a button in the security station at the beginning,[/sp] and then[sp]walk towards the starter door.[/sp]

Dammit Valve.
can we have an option to enable the old glock model, the old model looks better imo
can we have an option to enable the old glock model, the old model looks better imo
Especially the part where Gordon flips the Glock around in his hand and reveals that the bottom and right side are nonexistant.
Any news on MenteR's Alien Grunt redux so far?
i've been stupidly busy with college and work but semester's coming to an end so i'll have more time for my personal projects like the agrunt ;}
