Black Mesa Source V5 - "They're still working on Xen?"
Then, for pick up some speed, you will finally accept OnARail Uncut and SurfaceTension Uncut as a official, or you already have done all those maps?
Those will remain mods. Part of the problem is that since Greenlight, they now have a bunch of legal framework they need to work within. They can't just take Text's property as well as the misc sounds and music, and add it in. Text would have to hand ownership over to the Black Mesa Team or become a Developer (difficult, again due to red tape), and they would have to insure that every last prop, texture, and sound is allowed to be used by the BM Team.
Surely with BM being on Steam, it could have workshop support and the uncut versions could be put on there?
We figured it was time to pick up some speed. Expect some lovely updates in the near future.
Can we expect at least a small glimpse at what have you done with Xen and multiplayer maps (especially Crossfire)?

This lead me to think: A nice thing would be if the uncut versions are "bonus levels"
Once you finish On a rail, the uncut version get's unlocked and can be played from the main menu, same thing for surface tension.

So, that means that we will need to have the hope that they make their own versions.
Well, I think that we can expect the mod not getting fully released in the next years, I guess. (I hope not, I fear that they will not even touch On a Rail).
To be honest, I don't mind the Uncut mods remaining as mods. If players want to have the slimmed down versions of the chapters, okay; if they want to have them replaced with the chapter recreations, that's their choice.
I just want to be able to play the completed Black Mesa before I get all old and don't play video games anymore.
Probably won't happen, but I am hoping the maps for MP will have some form of scripted interactivity.
Stuff like rooms that heat up, spinning lasers that can be enabled/disabled, crushers, etc.
I fucking love custom maps that do that, and I adore games like UT that come with maps where you get to play with little scripted scenarios to try and kill players, or that HL2DM map where the blast doors would close and anyone outside died. (dm_runoff was it? I don't remember)
Stuff like that really helps liven up matches and keeps me interested in playing more, especially since I never really considered HL my "go-to" game for DM.
Even stuff like having a player controlled tram would be cool, a la that one map in OP4 MP

Also, Black Mesa is almost 1 year old!
Yeah, give them another 4 years and Xen will be done! :P
Black Mesa is now 1 year old!
I have a birthday too, 16 years :)
Updated the op with some images from famguy's mod.
And the "Pizza is a lie" ARG is still not solved.
Not mine

Half of it is.
TextFAMGUY (creator of the uncut projects) is on the BM dev team now.

This is awesome news.
I wonder if this means On a Rail and Surface Tension Uncut will be added to the base game too?

Apparently it's a possibility, but they'll most likely just be in the Steam workshop.
Anyway, this is really awesome news.

This makes me overly ecstatic
I believe progress on OARU has been halted.
An important part of being a member of the BMS team is having the general public believing you've died.
Our favorite DoctorK is back:

So many of the face textures could pass for Gordon Freeman. I guess he's a clone himself.
I've made a small (and shitty ;_;) bunch of localization fixes to the English Black Mesa Source UI. I've changed stuff like:
-Took out weapon slot #6
-Removed HL2's walk function because it doesn't work
-Added a custom autosave icon
-Removed G to get out Gravity Gun
-Removed C to recall squad
-Changed the easy difficulty description from "Enemies are easy to defeat, and the computer helps you aim." to "Enemies are easy to defeat; your weapons are more effective." due to the game already having a toggleable auto-aim option.
[Removed]

Update:
-The viewroll slider actually does something. (Values 0 - 3.5)

can't update through steam?

pretty sure hl2 walk does work, but the speed reduction is incredibly small (20-30 hammer units)

There's actually no speed reduction at all. The default running velocity for the game is 320 hammer units. If you choose to uncheck 'Always Run', the speed would be 190 hammer units. The default walk function in HL2 is bound to ALT, while Black Mesa's is bound to SHIFT. Pressing down the alt key will give no speed reduction, which is why I removed it from the UI.

hmm. Guess they tweaked it. Works in stock hl2 tho.
The only thing walkspeed works for is when you're not in your suit yet.
