I didn't realize trained military professionals could shoot before they aimed.
fire from the hip
i've seen them fire sideways as in not directed to me at all and somehow their bullets hit me like it's fucking nothing.
Its not like they are trained military professionals and you are just a scientist right?
Why do people say these kind of excuses, the soldier A.I's reaction is borderline retarded fast and the fanboys just defend it and say "oh well because it's REALISTIC because they are trained soldiers!" Or the most common one like the "You're just bad, the A.I is flawless". These examples aren't really spot on but I'd say it's close enough.
The HECU reaction time is too fast. Heck I've had them shooting at me before they even finished turning, their gun would be facing away from me, yet the bullets would be hitting me.
I've actually run into several situations where they're looking directly at me from a short distance away and aren't doing anything :v:
why can't they just repurpose the combine soldier AI and be done with it?
Its not like they are trained military professionals and you are just a scientist right?
They can fire bullets out their ass before they even look at you. They can see you through walls and always know where you are. Yet despite this "training", they still don't have the common sense to throw a grenade when you hide, or to stop trying the same thing over and over as you shotgun them down one-by-one as they come around the corner.
why can't they just repurpose the combine soldier AI and be done with it?
They're using a modified Combine AI. And that last part happens with the Combine HL2 as well. [editline]13th October 2013[/editline] Also Random Fact, the AI will walk over the Tram in 'On a Rail' if its in their way, I had houndeye do it once and I jumped off and it just stayed on it going in circles. I also had the HECU walk over it to get across the tracks. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/577876801487479215/24FB6793F84F18A166BE2D248EDF5E0A785FFA97/[/t]

Yet another reason to not go back there.
They're using a modified Combine AI. I've had them throw grenades to flush me out. And that last part happens with the Combine HL2 as well.
1. No they aren't, they created it from scratch. 2. Rarely! Combine throw grenades a couple times a chapter, BMS Grunts throw them a couple times a playthrough. 3. But the HL2 Combine also attempted to flank when they could. BMS Grunts just stand infront shooting at you until you move away or die.

why is the gamefront download link down?can anyone give me other one?
1. No they aren't, they created it from scratch
My bad, they share some of the same behavior code.
You guys do know that mapper can script flanking, grenade throwing etc? Doesn't have to be hardcoded ai
You can't script grenade throwing in BM.
They're using a modified Combine AI.
No they're not, they're using base source engine npc coding, they started from a base npc and then built their own coding onto it.
I figured Id log in to the community forums to see if my profile was activated yet and what do you know, not activated! How in the hell have they still not gotten around to activating my account after 6 months?
I think people are taking that rape thing way out of proportion. Maybe I'm just fucking blind, but they didn't sound very malicious. They just sounded like they wanted to pick up chicks.
I think people are taking that rape thing way out of proportion. Maybe I'm just fucking blind, but they didn't sound very malicious. They just sounded like they wanted to pick up chicks.
What's that have to do with BMS
What's that have to do with BMS
There are a couple of HECU that implied that they wanted to do stuff with the female scientists. I don't remember where, maybe Questionable Ethics?
I think people are taking that rape thing way out of proportion. Maybe I'm just fucking blind, but they didn't sound very malicious. They just sounded like they wanted to pick up chicks.
Honestly, rape seemed like the most likely implication. I seriously doubt they planned to "pick up" some of the female scientists. And the soldiers have already been established as being ruthless dickheads.
I got a question, where are all the Ichthyosaur in this game? In the laboratory, the dam and what else?
The 3rd one is in Forget About Freeman in that underground sewer complex.
Scared the living piss out of me when I ran into that, just because it wasn't in the original that I recall. The Icthy in the dam area I was expecting...Not that one, though.
The FAF itchy scared the piss out of me because it did not appear the first couple times I went through that area. So the third or so time I went through there I jumped into the water without a care and suddenly there's an itchy.
The FaF Ichthyosaur is actually the easiest one to take care of. You'll have almost certainly have picked up a metric shitton of grenades and other explosives, and it's swimming around in a confined space. Time for some good ol' dynamite fishing.
crossbow takes out the ichy pretty easily.
I ended up buffing the Ichthy's health because I was mega dissappointed how you could kill it with one fucking glock clip.
Yeah, Icthies seemed really underpowered. Two shots with a crossbow on Normal to put one down. Killing one in the original felt like an achievement. Now? Meh.
Yeah, Icthies seemed really underpowered. Two shots with a crossbow on Normal to put one down. Killing one in the original felt like an achievement. Now? Meh.
Everything got nerfed health. Even the bullet-spongy HECU can be taken down with 10-15 bullets from the MP5 in Black Mesa, and the Alien Grunts are a bit weaker too. Although they do more damage in return. (Or maybe that's just the HECU's AI issues at work, not sure.)
Alien Grunts are less damaging, I'd say their health is about the same but it's been awhile since I've played either and my memory isn't so great. I can confirm though that the HECU AI has a tendency to break when fighting AG's, so AG's will normally kill the Soldiers easily. The HECU AI gets 'confused' by the hornets and either tries to advance and retreat at the same time (making them run back and forth in the same spot), or they just stop attacking and cower until they are killed.
