Black Mesa Source V5 - "They're still working on Xen?"
Why do you assume they would tune out criticism? They are already correcting a lot of issues people had with the game to get ready for the steam release. A ten second scene just isn't as much of a priority as some of the bugs are.
Sorry. I just hate it when modders are stubborn about artistic choices that don't work.
I wish that scene was darker now.
Yeah, they're listening to some Criticism, they're trying to find new voices for the Grunts and Eli.
But not the scientists...?
They need the same treatment too, or at the very least find a few more actors with different tones and styles that can be closer to the more professional Half-Life counterparts.
(the current guy that voices all the male scientists, while okay, can sound really quirky and in a bad way; he makes all of the scientists sound like your typical nerd which is kind of the exact opposite of how they were in Half-Life)
Just one example; maybe not the best one so look around:
Skip to 2:28 for this one. LOWER VOLUME
Skip to 7:40 for this one
I wonder where they found the guy that voiced the Barneys though because he was arguably the only person they got that truly nailed their role. That impersonation for the guards is as good as they will ever get.
Victoria was great with her stuff too.

If only they could get Harry S. Robins on board. Even if money had to be given through donations or a kickstarter or something.
I honestly have no idea while you're being so critical on the scientist voices. Even the examples you provided don't really back up your point. They're not perfect but they're a damn decent job, and I definitely don't get the "typical nerd" vibe you seem to be getting.

Funny thing about this mod, almost all of my complaints are born from them replacing something good or salvageable from Half-Life with weak shit.
I personally think all the scientists should have panic in there voice due to the Resonance Cascade and the potential for something to appear anywhere, even inside them.
I'm pretty out of the loop currently, I know Black Mesa is going to be selling at some point with the ending to the game, Xen, and multiplayer. However, I have no clue about any news after that, have they told a release date, or something near that? Or how much the game will cost. Thank's to anyone willing to give me this information.

Be nice to see a Black Mesa version of that Hazmat.

They haven't revealed any info about the price or release date.
The most that we know is that there will be a complete mod version that will be available for free (Xen and all), and a retail version that will benefit from direct access to the source engine. (eg: higher entity limits, less hacky solutions for features, etc)

I like the music, (when the use of guitars isn't drowning out everything and making the song sound like it's up it's own ass) but this makes it look like some amature shit all around.
Here is a better image of the Hazmat

It won't be made by the BM team but if Operation: Black Mesa ever comes out, we will get a high quality hazmat scientist model from that.
I'm not a sound engineer, but I think anyone could tell from a casual glance that this is fairly ridiculous, I'm sure you'll agree. Black Mesa's rendition lacks much dynamic value. The audio levels are just massively pumped up literally to the brink of clipping and distortion. It is, from an entirely objective and quantifiable perspective, crazy loud.
hes talking out of his ass, waveforn size variation is proportional, not based on an absolute value
hes talking out of his ass, waveforn size variation is proportional, not based on an absolute value
Doesn't really change the fact that the music is way too fucking loud.
That's a weird situation with the remakes of the expansions.
The teams aren't affiliated with each other or Black Mesa so each one will have completely different renditions of the same places. Everything's going to be disconnected.
I'm not sure if there are any Decay projects still around but Operation Black Mesa looks amazing.
I'm sure there will be a shitton of mods making the projects more akin to each other

Doesn't BM have a separate "Music" volume? I know HL2 does.
Yes, you could simply turn the music volume slider down, but this is unneeded compensation that results in an unnaturally muted sound. The real solution here would be for the composer to master the songs in a better fashion.

2 years earlier, in the post I linked to
"Yeah you can make the music quieter, but I want the composer to make it quieter."
It's not just that the music is too loud, it's that the high amplitudes and low amplitudes are too close together. If you turn the music down, it will still be blown out on itself. It's the difference between a regular speaking voice and a muffled scream.
Black Mesa is supposed to be a portfolio piece for some of the team members. If I was the composer, I'd be ashamed I let this happen in a project that's meant to get me a job.

The user shouldn't have to fix the mistakes of the creator.
Also in this case it's a mistake that the user can't possibly fix without the raw files.

Maybe if you post about it one more time they will fix it.

The new scope looks nice.

I recolored the "constr" model in OARUncut to look like the "Gus" forklift operator, if anyone wants it.

Why don't you just use HL1's music then if you hate the new music so much? Complain all you want, they're not gonna remake the soundtrack for you.
