Black Mesa Source V5 - "They're still working on Xen?"
Why don't you just use HL1's music then if you hate the new music so much? Complain all you want, they're not gonna remake the soundtrack for you.
You've misunderstood. The soundtrack itself isn't the problem, it's the way that the soundtrack has been mastered.
Just as Marphy said in 2012, the music in Black Mesa has been brickwalled. Volume is favored over dynamics. That is bad. The soundtrack doesn't need to be remade, but a remaster should be strongly considered.

This isn't about preference, it's about mixing.
Also, no one said anything about prefering the old to the new, they were just making a comparision to the way it was mastered.

You're out of your depth. Stop talking about it with us. You are no longer included in this branch of the conversation.
The thing that worries me about these new casting calls is that sometimes bad acting is the fault of bad direction, rather than the actor's ability. I have no doubt the old HECU voice actor would have done a great job if the director and the writer didn't insist he sound like a dipshit.
That's a weird situation with the remakes of the expansions.
The teams aren't affiliated with each other or Black Mesa so each one will have completely different renditions of the same places. Everything's going to be disconnected.
I'm not sure if there are any Decay projects still around but Operation Black Mesa looks amazing.
Well, actually Operation: Black Mesa and Guard Duty are developed by the same team.
Hazard Team is dead, so we'll never know...
I guess the Hazmat will never see the light of day...
I kinda expected that.
EDIT:
The Hazmat model, not Hazard Team.

Who said that? Hazard Team stopped development but thats a Decay remake. The Opposing Force remake is still running.

The Hazmat model not Hazard Team lol
The Hazmat model not Hazard Team lol
but the hazmat showed up in Opposing Force, so its going to be remade.

I don't agree with you so I'm cast out, cool.

It's not because you're disagreeing, it's because you're completely missing the point and simply aren't listening to what people are saying to you. Case in point, you only responding to the most aggressive response and totally ignoring all the people telling you what's wrong with your stance.

Because I'm fine with how he made the music and I don't think he really needs to change it?
Because your satisfaction branches from a base ignorance, and you are trying to butt heads with those who want to see an improvement that will be objectively better for everyone, including you.
Guys, come on. I can't even tell if we're arguing about HL1's music, or the hazmat model anymore. This is pointless.
Let's just calm down, and...talk about something else. Please?
So, anyone heard anything about the Black Mesa: Coop mod recently? Thread's been dead for months now, and I sent a message to the developer, but he didn't answer. He's been on FP, though, so I dunno why.
You may consider waiting until he posts again and asking him that in some random thread he makes a post in, but I can't guarantee that you won't get banned for off-topic chat.
I think they should add back in the sprint meter from HL2 into the full release and just make a new option for no-sprint-meter in the gameplay settings
I like the limitation
Well, then the "always run" option that's supposed to be reminiscent of Half-Life kind of gets fucked over, doesn't it?

Again you're just going to call me ignorant for not agreeing with you
They designed Black Mesa around the Half-Life 2 style of movement, so it could work.
I'm not sure if they gave reason why they got rid of the sprint metre.

Because it's meant to be reminiscent of half life 1 with the always run feature? didn't someone post that already?
Black Mesa is supposed to be a portfolio piece for some of the team members. If I was the composer, I'd be ashamed I let this happen in a project that's meant to get me a job.
I would disagree with that. The worst thing that he did was the mixing which is easily fixable if he gets the chance to do a soundtrack for anyone else, and I see that chance being fairly high.
I think he just got a little carried away with his music and didn't think too hard about complimenting the actual game itself in terms of mixing, so you have the loudness war combined with the actual stuff going on in game. My brother likes listening to the soundtrack in the car when we're on the road sometimes and I think the soundtrack is solid outside the context of the game. However, with the combination of gunfire, yelling, and music, it's just kind of an explosion of "AAAAAAA" at times. Still, I wouldn't switch the music off in a million years - that stuff was awesome.
I'm guilty of doing this for a rather bad soundtrack for a Portal mod I did a while back, and I've made the attempt ever since to try and work more to the sounds and stuff that's going on in the game. The last thing you want to do is cover up the game itself and leave the player without a rather important element like sound.

that fucking cliff song
that fucking credits song
coldplay in my half life

Don't forget the tentacle music, the worst use of music in the game. The credits song was also really disappointing, because it started off so well, then the guitars came in after a few seconds and ruined everything.
Interestingly I don't have that much of a problem with the Questionable Ethics ambush music. The HECU are the main focus. If the music has to get bro douchey at some point, I'd rather it be then.

Actually I loved the music in that part. It felt more techno-y than guitar-y.

That's the only song that I'll admit to being "Uhh" about. It sounded like bloomy anime flashbacks followed by edgy anime fight. I don't know what the guy was going for.
However, I've got no qualms with the cliff song or guitars or anything.
black mesa's soundtrack was one of my favourite parts of the game
I hated it when Black Mesa let a part of the remake be weak shit, like their gutted versions of On a Rail and Surface Tension. The Blue Shift remakes have their work cut out for them, the whole expansion was some weak shit.

i was fine with them gutting On a Rail. Mostly because i hated that level (got lost a lot)

They made On a Rail more linear on purpose.
-snip- nvm
