god i hope the steam version of black mesa gets a separate mods folder
Considering that BM's Pizza Code ARG has been around for a while with no obvious leads (due to some puzzle that nobody has managed to solve), I wouldn't be surprised if people "suddenly" figure it out, and then info about Xen appears.
They won't figure it out, they've exhausted every lead there was and couldn't find the next clue. The creator refuses to give any hints because he says they're so close that the next hint would literally be the answer. Despite that, there hasn't been any progress to it in months and most people just gave up.
god i hope the steam version of black mesa gets a separate mods folder
Considering it is it's own steam app, then it would be possible, just have it's app id as required in the modinfo file. Same way you make any other source mod

Nobody has done that yet. (...Probably because it's a 100-page thread, and that's a lot of nonsense to trawl through just to fish a timeline out of it.)
New update:
Another short update. I did some texture work for MP this last week but also redid another model from AM. In looking at my texture from 5 years ago sadly it had some layers that were shall we say found on goggle which is a no no. So all questionable stuff has been removed and all "custom" work now. The gauges were a point of contention on the team when I did them and I have to agree they were too colorful and not appropriate. They are now all in keeping with much of the rest of the machinery. You won't know this yet but they match up to Mark Foreman' new models that are going into retail. So only 2 images. Clean AO and mostly done texture. Source has some crappy spec rendering so it will really need to be tweaked in game.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/lYVDaSk.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/eCZiAMF.jpg[/t] http://forums.blackmesasource.com/showthread.php?p=580541
It's so nice to get project updates, now that it's been released after years of silence it feels good they're doing little updates to remind us it's not dead.
The question is, they are going to bring to us Gus this time, or we will have to do it like we did with the worker model?:
If there isn't a map where you play a remade version of Gus Mod I will be disappointed
Figure I'll post this here since there seems to be some interest in Hazard Course for Black Mesa. It recently entered its third and final closed Alpha stage. Some particularly notable features include, · Inclusion of the introduction featured in the Playstation 2 version of Half-Life · A revised script · Voice work from official Black Mesa voice actors · An expanded outro sequence
"Voice work from official Black Mesa voice actors" That got my attention, pretty cool that they could get them to do some work.
I really can't stand the Gina/holograms models, it's not because of the dev's work, they do what they can, but those ragdolls are nothing like those sexy models in GoldSrc...
I really can't stand the Gina/holograms models, it's not because of the dev's work, they do what they can, but those ragdolls are nothing like those sexy models in GoldSrc...
you do know they aren't done with it, right?
The work isn't new iirc. The lines for Gina were recorded well before they decided to drop Hazard Course as a feature in Black Mesa.
Not quite. While you're correct in that Gina's lines were recorded a long time ago for Black Mesa, this won't be using those. CatzEyes93 (one who recorded Gina back in the day, PA system, tram announcer, etc.) has agreed to record brand new lines as the old ones would not fit this version of HC. Atop that, CornetTheory (voice of scientists in Black Mesa) has also agreed to record lines.
Actually, i'm not really sure what that's supposed to be under the HEV charger so I guess I can't really use it as an example.
It's just a random decal from Black Mesa, I don't know what it is either to be totally honest, but thanks for pointing that out. We're trying to make sure we don't make that mistake, we've even had testers point out stuff like European-style signs and whatnot, which got fixed right away. And please, nitpick at the details! Most of the course is built, so detail passes are pretty high priority right now. Anything within reason will be considered.
Inclusion of the introduction featured in the Playstation 2 version of Half-Life
Awesome, I was really hoping they'd put this in there! The introduction-area from the PS2 version has always held a special-place in my book. It made the level feel less like a game tutorial, and more like an actual part of the facility. Added a bit more context to what you're doing. I'm really glad they're including it.
I wish more FPS games *coughhl2cough* treated violence like this game does. Killing an enemy, and getting their blood on your hands, then seeing a puddle from their bleed out, then being able to render the corpse into unrecognizable chunks, or pick it up and paint the walls with it is glorious, and does a lot to carry the gameplay.
We need to tell the devs to allow us to pick up soldiers so we can paint the world beautiful colors.

At the time, gore was one of those things that every major FPS game took overboard. So I think not including it might've been an even larger milestone for the gaming industry.
I'm of the opposite impression. Considering how it was one of the early games to implement ragdolls, I think the decision was based mostly on the difficulty of combining ragdolls and gore. Doom 3 didn't have real gore, either, instead opting to have ragdolls disintegrate when damaged enough.
because getting hit by a rocket just makes you do cartwheels
It doesn't turn you into a pile of mush, either. I like to think that the Fallout games have a happy medium between ragdolls and gore. Making heads explode and watching the chunks fly everywhere is one thing, but hitting a Legionnaire square in the chest with a rocket and watching him go flying backwards as his stumps paint the world red- I need a break from video games.
I like the way the new wolfenstein does it - where smaller arms will drop a guy, and more powerful weapons like the shotguns will blow holes in people, and direct rockets will explode them. Not that I think it has to be as graphic, but hl2 would benefit from some gore even if it was just the occasional blowing off a limb.
I went back through the first chapter, and realized I never bugged all the scientists/guards. I'm not sure if this happens with all the guards, but the one at the end of the 'Laser hall' will say "Catch me later, you, me and Calhoun will go get that beer he owes you" if you pester him enough.

Media update:
Small update this week. Redoing the desktop consoles and our versions. All are getting detailed, re-UV'd and re-textured (plus making additional skins). Added dial stop on the rotary dial and a phone cord. The 3rd desktop console was changed to have better details keys and button vs the old one used in OAR. Hope you like it.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/a96freB.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/BGRFAH3.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/CoNeR0F.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/n3fsR0e.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/yqOoFYb.jpg[/t] http://forums.blackmesasource.com/showthread.php?p=581875
So when Black Mesa announced they were greenlit they mentioned that it'd be free but there'd be a pay version. Do we know the difference between them?
So when Black Mesa announced they were greenlit they mentioned that it'd be free but there'd be a pay version.
