Black Mesa Source V5 - "They're still working on Xen?"

Yeah, all of my favorite ST areas were cut from the game
I don't know how that works, I'm afraid, so I have no useful answer. But we are currently revisiting the human weapon effects - I'm not sure we're going to do anything about the explosions, though.
Please talk to your team about it, please?
The BM explosion effects are so clearly a reskin of HL2's, and ever since release I've hated them, the effect feels more like a pop more than anything, and with how fast they dissipate I feel like beefier sounds just sound out of place with them.
I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to with the first comment.
Basically if you grab the RPG, head outside to spawn the heli, then return to the rpg room and back, there's a chance that the heli will be facing 90 degrees from you, and such, cannot hit you at all?
No to the weapon select order. I actually hated that myself, too. I'll put in a feature request. No idea if it'll make it through, or not. No harm in looking.
I really hope this goes through. It's one of those little things that really messes with the game's feel.
On a Rail I had no qualms with being cut. It's my least favorite chapter in the original, but was handled pretty gracefully in Black Mesa IMO.
Surface Tension, on the other hand, felt abrupt and weird.
it gutted the sense of progression, overlooked opportunities to show the hecu taking casualties, and made sticking to the tram virtually pointless.
Yes to the MP5.

Thank you for the latter. I always got really confused while changing weapons while playing through BM:S, never got used to it. Mostly because whenever I play through BM:S, I also play through all the other HL games, and it would just feel inconsistent.

will there be a "custom" folder like in half-life 2?
will there be a "custom" folder like in half-life 2?
Sorry for bad english.
If they developing final mod version for source 2013 (Also, they confirm this, if i remember correctly), there will be "custom" folder, and other folders you want for custom content.
But for retail version... They didn't named a engine. I give a 95% it will be some sort of source engine, but they just didn't say it "source engine". They said about "New engine", and it's not Source 2 engine.

I actually didn't think about the former. Were there any vortigaunt-HECU battles in Black Mesa?
I actually didn't think about the former. Were there any vortigaunt-HECU battles in Black Mesa?
I only remember twice those fights on the Lambda Complex chapter. All the other fights where originally were fights were cut (ironically, at OaT and ST).
i swear to god the juniez weapon models look too good for black mesa's level geometry
I think Black Mesa, even the original mod, has some pretty good-looking lighting that helps draw the scene together a lot more, I don't think the models look out of place.
If anything, the original Black Mesa viewmodels were too shit for the level geometry. They were easily collectively the worst models in the entire original game. They looked worse than HL2.
Do i deserve to be crucified for liking Tau Cannon( not animations ) and Egon viewmodels?

Did they change the HUD font?

There's one (and only one) in On a Rail, before the 50cal placement standoff
I hope the full version will include a way to turn off weapon lowering.
of course the only person that tried to answer question was someone i cant fuckin understand
Well that was rude considering that he tried to answer your question.
Not to mention that I can understand him since I used a thing called a brain to understand what he meant.
Sorry for bad English.
If they're developing the final version of the mod for Source SDK 2013 (They confirmed this, if I remember correctly), there will be a "custom" folder for custom content utilizing the Steampipe format.
However, they didn't bother naming a particular engine for the Steam retail release, only that it would be "a version." Of course, there is a 95% probability that it will be a version of the Source engine at least and not Source 2.
Translation to proper English. Happy now?
-snip-
you can snip it, but your shame is here forever in the form of the post below you.

i think the environment and character art is very nice and one of the saving points of black meas. the original weapons are also artistically all right but are awfully under-budgeted considering their importance and follow a much older workflow, which is understandable considering when they were made. but besides that it's more of the whole design aspect that lets it down with the god-tier vorts, super aggressive soldiers, whose idea was it to make that weapon selection so counter intuitive, whose idea was it to implement that blood splattering with the clearly visible seams, and the silly collision woes and a collection of ,,,improveeeed,,, features that makes the product as a whole feel like it was supposed to remain faithful to the original but halfway through the development everyone kind of forgot and decided to implement their own thing instead

not to say it's poorly designed. it stands up nicely enough when viewed under its own terms. but it's confusing why they would attempt a recreation of Half Life when they clearly had a feature set of their own in mind which would have been more appropriate in their own independent game (which would have been just as possible with their manpower)
Damn it Juniez, your avatar is too cute.

No doubt a result of it being both a 'modern interpretation' and a recreation, without the developers being able to settle with one or the other.
Which I don't think is a bad idea in itself (modern interpretation), it's just that the execution of that aspect of the mod fell kind of flat.

I didn't have a problem with the vorts, though. Soldiers, ichtyosaur and apache were all broken, but I kind of liked how the faster charge rate on vorts shook things up. They never felt too difficult.
are cut features from the original ever gonna be added and also. did you know that the silenced pistol was supposed to be usable but scrapped from the final version

Knowing what horrors Valve envisioned originally. Hopefully not.
