Okay, I realize this post is fairly old, and not from facepunch, but still:
i know for a fact i have what it takes. i'm not doing any more than the crossbow though. i'm not getting paid enough for it. lol
D'you still feel like you'd wanna stop after finishing the crossbow? Because if the problem actually is money, gimme some bank details so I can start throwing some at you
Okay, I realize this post is fairly old, and not from facepunch, but still: D'you still feel like you'd wanna stop after finishing the crossbow? Because if the problem actually is money, gimme some bank details so I can start throwing some at you
To be honest, are there really any other models that need to be done? He's done the Glock, SMG, Shotgun, crossbow, and the .357, the only models that really need redone. I really don't think we need ANOTHER Tau Cannon or Gluon Gun remodel. Just a reanimation to stop them feeling like shit.
they both look like some kid just learned experimenting with vmt
You're really not good at the "insulting" stuff. I already said that I literally copied and pasted from one vmt into another. It was just to see what it would look like
I think the big missing details on the AGrunt is the lack of giant sideways teeth, and the little ear hole things like the vorts do.
This may be unrelated to the whole AGrunt conversation, but this has always bugged me. In Half-Life, I always thought that the hivehand wrapped around your arm, and there was like an appendage inside you squeezed to make it fire. This is why it was so elongated, so that it could accommodate for the agrunts' massive Schwarzenegger arms, and also work with thinner arms, like Vortiguants' or Gordon's. [Insert picture here!] In Black Mesa, the hivehand has an asshole. And Gordon fists it. But the issue is that it makes the hivehand feel short and stumpy, even compared to the ones that the agrunts actually use. Also, wouldn't it hurt to have that massive agrunt arm shoved up your anus? [...and here!] Just something I thought I'd complain about again.
Funny how I never got to see the part where the Security Guard comments accordingly to Freeman stuffing his arm into the hivehand. What'd Corporal Shepard do with a Shock Trooper Rifle? Also, couldn't help thinking Wolfenstein on those BM Alien Grunts either, it's like Gordon's fighting the remnants William and his descendant Stan Blazkowicz couldn't finish by themselves.
At the start of QE, the first soldiers you see talk about raping women and then start laughing. It was awful and cringe-worthy, and imo ruined the mood of the chapter (or at least the start of the chapter).
I don't know what game you're playing, but that's not in Half-Life.
I don't know what game you're playing, but that's not in Half-Life.
Black Mesa, I guess there had to be a dark humor joke since there were only male scientists in the original game.
Oh, stupid me.
I saw that the devs were making progress on BM DM so I made this. I even included the names of the mod leaders on it.

jesus christ even in a gmod poster the marines hold the mp5 wrong
Surely they'd hold the under of the grenade launcher?
Surely they'd hold the under of the grenade launcher?
That's how they're supposed to, although if I recall correctly HL2's ragdolls are very stiff and the hands don't move that way (they can't raise their arms or spread their legs either), so assuming BM's are designed the same way, I don't blame him for not having the hand positioned that way.
He's obviously planning to do a nade launcher jump you noobs.
He's obviously planning to do a nade launcher jump you noobs.
because the clip is the best part of the gun to hold when you're flying through the air from a grenade blast
Dude that's just how they do it in the army, I don't know why, look it up for yourself. [Editline]butts[/editline] What's with all the disagrees, that's how they nade jump
are they gonna fix that seam going down the back of the male scientist heads
That's how they're supposed to, although if I recall correctly HL2's ragdolls are very stiff and the hands don't move that way (they can't raise their arms or spread their legs either), so assuming BM's are designed the same way, I don't blame him for not having the hand positioned that way.
Yeah, the Grunts are a bitch to pose, especially the hands.
Ragdolls having stiff joints has no impact on animations, at all. The hands are off because they used Combine animations.
The subject is posing, though.
On the topic of grunts, I think Black Mesa's grunts just kinda look like big burly humans with fucked up faces and a weird skin condition. HL1's grunts look like they're actually aliens genetically engineered to be meaty death machines. The huge shoulders and big chests give it a district silhouette that says "this thing could take off your torso with a single punch". Black mesa's grunts just look so bland and human-like in comparison.
Both weapons now use their HL1 behaviours. MP5 fires single shots, Glock has rapid fire with right click. All weapons now use a system of recoil a la HL1, with low spread but a controllable recoil pattern. Most of the weapons have been reanimated, a few have been remodelled and improved. The HGrunt AI has been redone, and their balance and damage values have been redone. Our Marine VO has been rerecorded with a new, and brilliant actor. Some of our weapon particles have been redone. We are, and have been listening. The commercial release will be a large step above the mod release. This is but a small snippet of what we've been working on, too.
That's literally almost everything I've wanted to hear out of the new version. That's awesome, it'll feel like Christmas when I get to play the commercial release. Thank you so much for the hard work, really. Half-Life has been a very special game to me, ever since I was young, and all the love and care you guys have put into the mod is just incredible. My hype for BM is too much. Seriously, thank you.
because the clip is the best part of the gun to hold when you're flying through the air from a grenade blast
because that's where the trigger for the nade launcher is
http://bmrf.us/ Anything regarding this? I know it's owned by the black mesa source devs Could it mean Xen? P.s I was too lazy to look though the whole thread, if someone already have posted it, I take the blame.
I love the little snippets of progress you inform us on but I just died a little inside.
Well, I'm pretty sure they've said since the announcement of retail, that Xen will be coming after the first release. So that is not surprising.

Or if whoever created that audio file just grabbed the audio from somewhere else.
Just want to drop by and leave this new prop image what Brian posted in the bm's forums.
Today's work.
It could mean any number of things, but not Xen. Xen is still a ways off!
Then you should honestly be careful to how much "internet buzz" you want to make with the Black Mesa Emergency System and Pizza ARG thing. If you announce something that is not related to the retail release with Xen, than your average internet layman might be pissed off. Honestly, I would just wait and build excitement towards a full release. To be honest, while I loved the free release of Black Mesa, you lost a lot of potential momentum by releasing 90 percent of the game without its climactic chapters. It's like a fantastic book or movie with the last couple of chapters and final scenes missing. Still, all of your work is amazing. Just be cautious about handing it out piecemeal. The scope and quality of Black Mesa deserves all the fanfare of a retail title.
