This stream thing came out of absolutely nowhere and most people missed it. It's a great idea but at least set it to automatically archive in future. There's no way of seeing it until you put it up.
They apologized during the stream about it being so out of the blue and next time they will let everyone know in advance.
And someone did say that it was being recorded, I think they just haven't put it up yet
Have you modeled Gordon for multiplayer?
Have you modeled Gordon for multiplayer?
I didn't see him as one of the DM playermodels, but the helmeted HEV suit was present.
So does/can the first person HEV arms change color based on your HEV suit color?
Also i feel like it must be somewhat close to release now, the last time we got to see any kind of significant media it was a couple weeks from the release of the mod
Those maps are making me really salty
Those maps are making me really salty
Salty? How can you be salty from looking at maps?
I asked in the stream if they changed ladders and they said they were still the same but I could've sworn multiple times I saw the player moving to the side a bit and having more freedom of movement like HL1's ladders, instead of being locked on the horizontal axis like hl2's

-snip- Holy shit that was dirty.
Dumb marked you say? I don't like you either.

now that's something i wanna see
will the vorts be redone?

Well you worded it wrong then. They didn't change the ladders. That'd be like me asking an engineer whether his tools have changed when he starts picking his nose with a screwdriver.
I asked in the stream if they changed ladders and they said they were still the same
They said something about "ladders code are like in CS:S." or something similar, and maybe this style of climbing is MP only.

Except we did. The MP ladders use CS:S code, with the freemoving style. SP ladders are unchanged. I said this on the stream too :P Both styles have their advantages and disadvantages, we think HL2 style is best for SP while CS:S style is best for MP.

I actually specifically asked them if they made them more like HL1's ladders code-wise and then they responded with "not really I'm just bad at climbing them" or something like that followed by HASL's quote
I just loaded it up to see what CSS ladders are like and they are basically like stiffer, better versions of HL1's ladders so I guess in MP at least they do work differently.
EDIT:
Didn't see that post above mine, I must've not heard when text was talking i guess
technically it would be more accurate to call them "HL1 ladders"
since css just took it from there. left4dead has them too but it strips your weapon away

I didn't deny the fact that you changed it,but thought he asked you if you just changed the ladders, not how they are used as a reason for why you said no AKA a misunderstanding (you as in devs, not specifically you). I can understand this for MP because it would be inconvenient for fast-pace to use the HL2 system.

They look really good, I don't believe I could recreate any of the work done in them
Did anyone forget about this?
I don't post much on facepunch but err, yeah here's a quick update.
Finished the grenade and crowbar, the grenade is broken however, it doesn't want to throw the nade or play the sprint animation..
If any dev could let me know what the reason is I'd be very happy!

I don't want to come off as a sell-out, but I posted my paypal info on the Black Mesa forums, so I'll just put it here too.
Remember this is voluntary donations! I don't demand money to finish this.

-awesome screenshots of awesome work by an awesome person done awesomely-

I never will. It is too awesome to simply "forget".
We'll get you guys up to speed on the game's development, relatively soon. And I don't mean SOON™, I mean soon soon. Patience is a virtue, frienderinho. We're working on it!
Sounds tasty.
God those hands look incredible
I might donate

Is it just me or does the grenade look too grey?
Is it just me or does the grenade look too grey?
Hi adamsz,
the materials on this model have not been finalized yet and will be changed prior to release. If there are any other concerns let me know.
To those who saw the stream, how's the visibility, clarity? Both Gasworks and Undertow look a bit dark from the pics.
To those who saw the stream, how's the visibility, clarity? Both Gasworks and Undertow look a bit dark from the pics.
The maps are perhaps a touch on the dark side, but, all players are slightly self illuminated, as are the weapons, so identifying players and pickups is never an issue. We had to strike a balance and a compromise. The lighting was one of the toughest aspects of the MP design, most of the maps took months to light properly.
EDIT: Just to clarify on this - Gasworks is the darkest map overall. Undertow is not dark. Lambdabunker has dark areas but is not dark overall. The rest are all bright and cheery. It's an artistic choice and definitely does not impact gameplay or readability - two incredibly important considerations for us. We are excited to hear player feedback on this particular aspect, and if we find that players find the maps to be overall too dark, we will certainly be open to changing it. It's a "wait and see" type deal for us. None of us or our testers have an issue with it, so we're waiting to see how the community responds when they get their hands on it.
Hey TextFAMGUY1,
I was wondering, when will you release that video you were talking about if I remember it correctly, correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to see the current state of Black Mesa.
Also, does anyone has a link to a recorded version of the stream? I've missed it, and I really want to see some multiplayer action.
It's coming, it's just taking a while. I am working on it, I made a bunch of progress over the weekend. I have about a million things on my plate at the moment, the last month has nearly driven me off the damn edge. Apologies for being slow.
We'll do an official version of the stream, soonish™. Gotta work out some details.
Is it just me or does the grenade look too grey?
I feel that might be just it not being illuminated at all
I see talk about a video, is it for SP or MP?
MP

Something I've noticed is it seems like you have a custom shader of some sort. Compare Castiel's shots:

It could very well be something as simple as you just took time to find cinematic lighting angles or even just have different phong settings, but whatever it is, it seriously compliments your models and textures.
If it actually is something beyond simple screenshot posing, do you think you'd be willing to share it with us?
