Black Mesa Source V5 - "They're still working on Xen?"
that's because the system was very simple and therefore flexible
It's weird because the AI in Source, or Half-Life 2 at least, has the potential to be flexible too, but instead everyone stands around or bumrushes their targets, shoots at eachother and starts shifting away when 'danger' occurs to them either via injury, grenade or otherwise. They usually die before they can even squad up and flank. Combine that (no pun intended) with areas that often have the AI plant themselves down or advancing for you, and the 'sandbox encounter' feel of the small areas of HL1 go the way of formulaic rooms with a bunch of the same enemies lying around for you to pop your head out.
Granted, it's been a year and a half now since I played Black Mesa at its release, but I do have to say that it did feel like the BM devs tried to replicate the sort of sandbox encounter feeling again. The AI was just too infamously obnoxious to make proper use of it or really make a player want to do more than hunker down near a corner and snipe away with the pistol. Sandbox encounter might not be the right word, i'm not sure how to really describe it..
Frag grenade explosions rarely gib to any extent and don't involve any visible flames (mostly smoke). I'm gonna get flak for this but really if you're gonna make it easy to spot,I don't see the need for the flame effect.
Almost seems like it'd be better as a HUD element you could just toggle on and off at will. If that's even possible.

In my opinion.
For what? Sorry, since you replied to no post in particular,it's hard to tell what you're talking about. Not trying to be snarky.

IMO it looks a bit off that some monitors are just screenshots from the game.
BM NPC DICKAGE V3 - ARMOURED WARFARE
So I decided to spawn a bunch of tanks, colour-code them, and have them kill each other. Then found out the hard way all the minigun spam would crash the game, so I disabled the miniguns for all the tanks. Then spent half an hour making a giant map with AI nodes and destructable buildings, only to find out the tanks don't really move on their own and simply fire through walls trying to hit targets behind them.

I don't think I like the direction the team is taking in the Xen revisioning.

It's a security console for that area. They're camera feeds. From a certain MP map we haven't revealed properly yet...
How do I watch/subscribe to a thread on the blackmesasource.com forums? It's a simple question, seriously. I am asking how to subscribe to a thread on those forums on that website, not on these forums on this website. Please? People seem to be constantly misinterpreting what I say.
I don't think you can. Try asking on the forums.
If nobody answered your question the first three times, asking again probably won't help.
I don't think you can. Try asking on the forums.
OK,but I didn't want to because I was afraid I would get mocked there and I really couldn't figure where to post on those forums.

Well people figured I was asking how to subscribe on THESE forums on Facepunch, not the Black Mesa website ones. See,it was all a matter of misinterpretation.

I disagree
it worked for my parallax mapping question that I had a few pages ago
grabbed some dumbs along the way, but got the answer in the end

Jeeze man, calm down. If ratings bother you, turn them off in the forum settings.
Actually, Bethesda has little to do with Valve's games. The one where the Space Core is involved was likely just an inside joke in ARGs.
Jeeze man, calm down. If ratings bother you, turn them off in the forum settings.
I'm just joking. Laughter never hurt nobody.

That was made as part of the launch of Steam Workshop for Skyrim.
Just want to let you all know that Brian posted some more prop images.
