I'm having the same exact issue as you.
Day 2 of attempting to download this game is off to a good start!
Odd, mine only stopped for a minute then continued again. Took an hour and a bit to download.
No stress at all. I can only imagine the frustration for you guys though.
Wasn't downloading anything for 2 hours, tried something to start the download back up, after restarting my computer to sort it out, the download had restarted, back to square one again.
Kill yourself Microsoft, you're cunts.
It blows my mind that not only is there a digital distribution platform THIS incompetent in 2016, but that it came from fucking Microsoft.

No issues here.. Just bought today and started my download.. 56 out of 73.33 GBs downloaded with 0 issues
The windows store REALLY likes verifying your game content, and does so basically every time you pause/resume a download. It also seems to do it during the download - it buffers a certain amount of data, downloads it, verifies it, then flushes it to disk.
There's a relatively easy way of determining what it's doing at a given time - there's no way you can make it go faster, but it's nice to know:
1. Open up Task Manager
2. Click on the Performance tab
3. At the bottom, click "Open Resource Monitor"
4. Check the "Network" and "Disk" tabs. You're looking for "svchost.exe (netsvcs)" - that's Windows Update, which also handles downloads/updates from the Store.
5. On the Disk tab, it'll be "svchost.exe (wsappx)", which is the Windows 10 appx package manager - the thing doing the verification/installation.
If you see more than a trivial amount of network activity, it's probably the "buffering" step. After a while, that 'll die down, and it'll show up at the top of the Disk tab - that's it verifying your data. This is why you might see a large chunk downloading steadily in the windows store, then it pausing for a time and resuming later on.
Another thing to note - if your Store download/update appears to be complete (ex. it says 200mb/200mb downloaded), but the download appears to be frozen, see if the progress bar in the background of the download is still going - if it is, it's decompressing/verifying the download. You can verify this by following the steps above and checking the Disk tab for activity. This was a major source of confusion during that launch day update.
I'm not sure why the windows store is so aggressive about verifying data - it seems to be pretty wasteful as far as I/O goes. It may be something to do with the Encrypting File System it uses. I suppose a lot of these issues would be reduced by using an SSD, but, at least for me, Steam downloads quite a bit faster even with my mechanical drive.
I can only hope they improve it in the future, because as it stands, this is a really poorly implemented system (which was probably never intended to deliver huge packages, ie. AAA games).
Also in order for downloads to work your windows needs to be updated apparently. That fixed my download
whats the gears of war 1 remaster like on pc now? I heard the port was abysmal on release but idk if its got any better. gears 4 is way too expensive for me but I'd be willing to maybe get that, I see the xbone key on key sites but idk if that'd work on win10, I know it has the crossplay thingy but im not sure it works like that

I'm pretty sure all digital keys are xbox playanywhere keys.
As for GOW UE on pc it runs alot better now then it did before.
Now that it's working, my god what an outstanding port. Runs like butter on Ultra.
Yeah its runs insanely good, im getting 100-120fps avg on multiplayer matches, @ 1440p ultra. Shame it probably wont sell that well, being locked to the windows store is a huge barrier.
I think it's doing pretty well sales wise, the question is how long it will stay populated

I tried it a few weeks ago and it hitches like crazy and I have a hard time maintaining 30fps. Gears 4 on the other hand never drops below 60fps on Ultra.
VS is already turning into a crouch-rushing shotgun fest which is what has always made VS so incredibly stale for me. i was hoping the PC version would bring some new players in who would try different, more fun playstyles but that didn't even last half a week

Gears of War vs will always be a gnasher fest, and tbh I'm okay with that. With that being said, you can rely on your rifles as long as you play more defensively and aren't hugging another player.

Pretty sure gamesdeal isn't legit... keys might get revoked.
Did you personally get this yourself and if so how long have you had the game for?

The game only came out yesterday not counting the early access for preordering the $100+ versions so we'll see if his key gets revoked or not.

I bought the GOW 4 UE not from there :v: was just suggesting it. Apparently people have bought from there and had no issues so :v:

The play style is fun as hell for me, it relies on a ton of game sense and good movement to prevail. I love it because I'm used to it, I'm down to teach anyone some pointers and tricks. I played on a team in 3 and I've been playing since 1 first came out and idk what it is but the game is super skill based and I love it.

I got a key for a operations gear pack for gow4 and i don't own the game, so would anyone like it?
I wasn't really expecting much from the game as i got it for free from work, but damn, it's so well done, and I love the destruction everywhere (in singleplayer so far) ...
And I think this is first game that I've seen that does animations in a way that if character touches face, the skin/muscle on face moves as it's pushed by hand..
Very well done Coalition, superb PC port even with awful MS store.
looking forward to multiplayer once.

I won't be able to buy it till next tuesday, but I'm looking forward to it. What's the consensus on the new horde?
Just a PSA
if you have the windows firewall turned off it breaks some of the match making coop functionality of the game :v:
This is because it uses an IPV6 tunneling service to establish a connection which is part of the windows firewall service. I was able to play all of the other online modes but couldn't do a private coop session with my buds and finally found this out while lurking on their forums for a while.
The lack of diversity in characters to play as in multiplayer, particularly for the Swarm, is pretty disappointing.
I wish they'd bring in some of the old locust models back, like the savage drone and theron guard.
Not being able to choose the retro lancer over the normal in your loadout is also pretty lame.
I hope the first character pack is big, I'm getting bored of playing EDay Anya and the female gears

If the Gears 4 retro is anything like it was in Gears 3, that shit belongs as a power weapon.
Making my way through the campaign, it's totally cheeseball and filled with lame, cliche lines...but I do find it awfully endearing that JD's voice actor sounds an awful lot like Nathan Fillion; his witty quips sound just like Malcom Reynolds.
After seeing the locust in the prologue, I hope we get a locust add-on for horde sometime down the line , however unlikely it is.
