Retro is nutty as hell in the right hands. I loved the bomb they drop at the end of the campaign like ayy and also the little foreshadowing throughout

Retro lancer has always been really strong and its still broken in this one even more so with the ability to active reload without having tl shoot first.

The whole story was a let down, which is fine because I didn't expect it to be amazing [sp]after killing off the original Locust. Pretty much the only thing that interested me was the heavily implied relation between Kait and Myrrah.[/sp]
Not to mention the characters are forgettable and cheap. The Carmines had more personality than them. The constant bantering and quips also detracted from it, especially when [sp]Marcus started complaining about his home being blown up.[/sp]
It just lost that grimdark feel that contributed a lot to Gears.
I think Gears 5 will have a better story, they just needed to find their footing with this one.

Honestly Gears lost that grimdark feel after the first game, Epic Games steered it that way. Even to the point where they changed composers because they thought Riepl's score was to dark for what they wanted.

I finally finished the Gear 4 campaign, and wow. I don't know how I feel about it.
Gameplay wise (On hardcore) it was pretty fun, but the game dragged on a bit towards the end of act 4 and all of 5.

The part where you man the giant DB mechs was a bit much, and the cutscene where Marcus goes to talk to Baird about help, I was just thinking thank god there isn't a fabricator in view, I don't want to do that shit again. And then Marcus drags out a fabricator.[/sp]
Final boss and ending spoilers

That final boss was such a joke, I'd say the whole last ending bit was a bit joke. End the game in sluggish Gears 2-esque mech gameplay? Come on man. The original Gears last act is still the strongest last act of any game imo. And the ending was a bit underwhelming, besides the twist, I was just thinking "is that it?" But that twist at the end, holy shit it did get me.[/sp]
Acts 1-3 we're fantastic, seeing the world of Sera from a completely different perspective, and I did like the main cast, though I missed the cynicism of Delta Squad.
In terms of story, I did feel like it was the weakest (Not including judgement I haven't played that turd yet). It's only saving grace was that the characters weren't god awful and likable. I'm so glad Karen Traviss didn't write this game, I'm sure Gears 3's story would have been much better with a different writer.
I did like the storms though, they were cool, and those whipping sounds from the red lightning, that shit was creepy as hell.

Honestly the only time I've ever really tolerated her voice was in Saints Row 4, and that was because the Russian voice from 3 wasn't there, and the French one was shite.
The storm is cool but having it appear like 5 times in the story is a bit ridiculous.

Can someone please tell me I am not a scumbag for using anything but gnasher in multiplayer. It feels like I am cheating the game when I gun down someone charging at me with a gnasher. Besides, I suck at using the gnasher and just lose because of it.
2 things when playing Horde mode,
1) People randomly dropping from the game or I'm dropping from the game, as we'll be playing normally then all of a sudden, everyone's left the game, it's happened twice now online and it's kinda dumb, makes me not want to play it when it's like that.
2) Why are people ignorant to the Scout's Power Deposit bonus? Like I'll even tell people to let me do it, but they ignore me and just pick up power anyway.

Are you on a 960? It's a bug that happens sometimes with 2gb cards, but extremely often with 2gb 960s. I have the same problem. What fixes it for me is to run a quick benchmark or anything that loads some form of game before I actually start playing.
I'm running with a gtx770 :s
