Okay folks, here is the latest character pool, with a total of 39 characters so far. Looking into a way of making this into a workshop addon so people don't have to constantly download the file to get the latest characters. If you aren't sure how to install, refer to the OP for now.
just in time for my new save, great i'm so, so sorry DeEz, Infiltrator, Mr. Fantastic and whoever Destroyox is
I just pulled off a play that looks like something straight out of an action movie. I'm in this city map with my sniper on top of one building and the rest of my troops on the street below. I threw a battle scanner on top of an adjacent building to discover 3 advent troops on the roof. So I first void rift them since they were nicely bunched up, they get alerted and scatter around the roof to take cover. Then I notice a perfect opportunity, my sniper still has a faceoff ability fresh and ready to use. So I grapple her across the street to the roof of the other building and land right in the middle of the 3 advents. I use lightning hands to soften up the officer who still had high health, then use faceoff. Bam, all 4 shots hit and they're all dead. What a badass way to unlock the "Now I am become death" achievement.
Getting the GTS bonus that makes an extra item drop is insane. I don't know if it actually doubles the amount of what but I've gotten 5 items at once before.
I somehow doubt even half the people here have a decent mic, let alone a mic at all.
To be fair, you don't really need a decent mic considering there's a radio effect over a lot of the soldier voices anyways. It's kind of alright for operatives to sound like they're talking through potatoes.
it helps a lot to get elerium cores, that's for sure i never had a shortage of them in my last playthrough oh, and people were talking before about starting position changing nothing because the bonuses are randomized.... while this is true, starting in asia is the worst possibility because it takes longer for you to get all regions under your network also, if you play on a toaster, starting in africa will put you in a lot of forest missions that for some reason are the ones lagging up most for me.
I made a short video. :v:

The Long War voice packs were great, but the difference in the characteristics of the recordings were pretty jarring (in particular when compared next to the stock voices). Admittedly it'd be damn cool. Someone would need to work with all the recordings however.
The first character I created ladies and gentlemen, John Britbong. [t]http://i.imgur.com/hFB7wlU.jpg[/t] He saved the motherfucking Earth, as his reward I'll be submitting him to the Facepunch character pool.

Reading this thread, and being able to reflect on the campaign "posthumously" definitely makes me think of all the things I could've done better.

God I've spent the last few days trying to get UI modding a try and it's just complete balls. You can get to a point to slightly edit a menu but just creating your own is joke-near levels of impossible. Especially when it uses Flash.
what's with brit characters and using the smiley camo anyway [t]http://i.imgur.com/J8RMgPF.jpg[/t]
Well fuck me sideways my British Specialist has smiley camo on his gun
Still no replacement in sight for my broken computer. Guess I'll have to buckle down and keep XCOM 2 on hold.
Here's a screenshot dump in my 3rd attempt of Commander difficulty. Things are actually going great now that I got the building order down! Even though my first two scan sites gave two rookies each and not, say, Incendiary Rounds and an Acid Grenade like in my second attempt. In my last ditch effort for the data, I sent in Jones for a suicide run. He died a hero and is said that his angel sped up scans for those 4 weeks. Never forget master hacker, Jack Jones. [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/317871298387013004/EE038AAACC9E2F70020BEB6C792381BA1E89F4F0/[/t] Deleting a Shieldbearer from the game. [sp]Incidentally, my Ranger is a crit machine, able to reach ~116% crit chance on an ambush.[/sp] [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/317871298387013094/944A2314A46916C6D461432F7D83B1F2B02F9DCA/[/t] Burning down a Blacksite [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/317871298387013187/C84BBA3C86790AEE2CBE132E2D915A8B5614B487/[/t] [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/317871298387013285/8F17E5F8B26FA84708AC2F850E93597B6A5B101C/[/t] Dominating the Blacksite. [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/317871298387012665/3EFE55B9B8740848C0188328F85AD22B86FE8184/[/t] Lastly, obligatory silly mission name
Good god, took evasive maneuvers to dodge a UFO and I avoided it but it brought me back to the UFO when the maneuver ended
I don't really understand the UFO evasion thing. Is it really nothing but click button then hope you don't get intercepted?
Somehow they managed to make air combat even worse.
Somehow they managed to make air combat even worse.
No air combat > XCOM 1 Air Combat
I love the parts in the cutscenes whenever Tygan/Shen/Central look at the commander and starts talking to you directly. It's so damn cheesy and dumb but I love it.
I love the parts in the cutscenes whenever Tygan/Shen/Central look at the commander and starts talking to you directly. Like it's some inside joke or catchphrase at XCOM.
Be straight with me: are Codexes intentionally able to be able to flank your concealed ranger whenever they clone or teleport?
Codexs' are straight up bullshit with teleport and their MASSIVE disarm radius, their stats are retarded too.
Do codexes actually attack after they clone into your flank? For me they always just stand there after they clone.
I love it whenever Central looks directly at the screen and does the whole, "Good luck... Commander." Like it's some inside joke or catchphrase at XCOM.
I don't think I've ever heard Bradford say "Commander" in any tone that doesn't illicit some sarcasm, at least when the Commander is actually there. He always leaves a pause before he adds in Commander, as well. What isn't he telling us? Is he just an Ayy Imposter?
Codexs' are straight up bullshit with teleport and their MASSIVE disarm radius, their stats are retarded too.
Flash bang them then concentrate fire. They are pathetically easy to dispatch when disorientated. If they do get a turn, they will only shoot if they can. They can't even clone while flashed. Not a single one has ever given me trouble.
Good god, took evasive maneuvers to dodge a UFO and I avoided it but it brought me back to the UFO when the maneuver ended
At least yours moved. Mine just dropped into the next sector and waited there while the UFO took a long flight around the world before catching me. What the fuck
did capnbubs finish that cool mask accessory yet?
