Add a pod or two on guard duty for the device.
That won't do anything as long as it's possible for a concealed ranger to "highlight" the thing for snipers, so it'll take a lot of pods to guard all directions. And that would suck to fight through on proper approach.

Dunno if it would be possible but I wonder if you could add in the extended sight range dark event for just the defense missions.
How do you think I could tweak the Avenger Defense mission to make it not piss-easy
it wouldn't make sense regarding the mission per se, but make the soldiers spawn at the relay and put all the aliens between them and the avenger., and just make the objective "reach the ramp evac in x turns" or just make a plain "survive x turns while shen fixes the ship" and throw endless waves of enemies over the player, dunno
So me and a few friends have been bouncing this idea around For a Killing Floor themed mod/overhaul for xcom, and made a Google Doc listing some of our thoughts before we start. Thoughts?
It will make it super risky for the ranger to go alone. Dunno if it would be possible but I wonder if you could add in the extended sight range dark event for just the defense missions.
I just had a mission like this last night; the root of the balance issue is that the pod guarding the device does not activate when the sniper attempts to destroy it at squadsight range. If the Archons that were guarding the transmitter beacon had began to run towards my squad after the sniper began taking shots, they would've revealed my concealed spotter on the first turn and made this strategy much more dangerous.
With the amount of strategies people can come up with to cheese the game, I wonder if these missions were properly playtested to iron it out, Avenger Defence and "destroy relay" Guerilla Op mission. Because let's face it, firing at an item that has to be destroyed from across the map is borderline cheat. I think the best way to rectify that would be to somehow make it so relays and EMP devices don't show on squad sight or have tons of armour so they require explosives/grenadiers to be taken out. On another subject, I think I'm spending more time downloading customization mods and playing around with how my troops look than actually playing the game.
It's against the rules to post sick ass mods and not provide a link bruh
Oh come on, this shit's on workshop's top list mang. But fine, don't report me plz dood. Grim's armours' alternative patterns are fucking sick, they look much better than the originals. It seemed really strange to me how Firaxis' designers have gone for somewhat more "realistic" options for armour design, but then you unlock Plated armour and it looks chromed and ridiculous.
[t]http://puu.sh/n9Wlp/7ac57d2231.png[/t] I made another checkpoint. You don't really realise how much these repeat!
I made another checkpoint. You don't really realise how much these repeat!
I actually noticed the repetition. Or the fact that overpass environment variants are essentially the same map with minute details being different.
I think I just got spoiled on what the [sp] Avatar Project is. Is it basically just infusing or creating a species with powerful psionic abilities? Please just a yes or no answer, I don't want to be spoiled if I've got it wrong[/sp]

Oooohh :v: [Muffled Static] EXALT Voice Pack [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/314494081664563943/0C4A38114A6CF32405CE1148313F37619C101E21/[/t]
Really thought I'd royally fucked up my latest campaign but I think I'm finally turning it around. Thank fuck. This game is really riding my ass, even harder than classic on EW it feels like. At least no thin mints though.
I hope that the future DLC includes some different mission types, maybe some larger scale battle type things, where there's an active fight going on between EXALT and ADVENT and you start in concealment. I dunno' how they'd work it, but I love the idea of former EXALT battling against ADVENT. Like, you start a mission, stuff goes to shit fast and then EXALT drop in with their delicious fashion and static, and start firing potshots at the aliens while you retreat, giving cover and fire and helping you out. There's a saddening lack of badasses showing up to help you out of tough situations. Imagine being HAPPY to see an exalt rocketeer in full cover and in sight range at the end of your turn.
EXALT never existed in X2 timeline I'd like to see another human group enemy that used the same abilities as your guys, though.
And even if they did exist in some fashion in the X-Com 2 universe, the organisation itself agreed with the aliens methods and would have most certainly joined Advent.
They didn't exactly agreed with the aliens, no. That's something added by Long War that some people mistakenly remember as being part of vanilla. They want alien tech for themselves, and then later use it to kick the aliens out and hoard all the glory/rewards. They only help the aliens in the sense that they keep interfering with X-Com but they never (in vanilla) directly support the aliens initiative in any fashion

Spoiler: Shen's Last Gift isn't MECs or SHIVs but EXALT.
why spoil yourself even more? just play and you'll find out
I just wanted to know if I had been spoiled or not, and it turns out I haven't. Unfortunately I can't play yet, even if I had it in my Steam library I'm ordering a new computer tomorrow, which won't arrive until at least next week.
EXALT never existed in X2 timeline I'd like to see another human group enemy that used the same abilities as your guys, though.
Illuminati badasses are still canon to me. I mean, the 100% exalt bandana must just be fanservice if that's true.
Should I upload my Nod Soldier voice to the workshop?
Appearantly all XCOM enemy units have panic animations, and it makes them a 100% less threatening. I'd love to see a compilation of all panic animations, appearantly the berserker for instance rolls up in a ball, and andros go into fetal position.
Please tell that I'm not the only one who thinks that Viper looks cute in that position.
Be very, very careful when using "viper" and "cute" in the same sentence when the subject is Xcom 2
So anyone have a tutorial on how to make a country flag?

And from this day forth, I'm going to assume that all flanked Advent soldiers and officers are screaming "I'M LOSING CONTROL OF THE SITUATION" or some panicked derivative.
