Always glorious when the rookie does the most damage. Would it be possible to mod hacking so you can see what you'll get from hacking one of those scanner things for no ap cost but actually performing the hack takes ap?
Wait isn't it already like that? I constantly do that, if you cancel the hack - no AP is taken.
-gonna make a better version-
Was testing out a voice pack and I had a brief reminder of why you should never melee mutons. [VID]https://my.mixtape.moe/gloses.mp4[/VID] UE Editor is horrendously unstable, moving the window crashes it on my computer every time. I can't remember, do soldiers usually play a line when they engage a target (like they do when they miss or kill them)? I saw that there are voice cues related to it, but setting them doesn't seem to do anything.
[T]http://i.imgur.com/T3eCJO6.jpg[/T] Eh what gives? This is my XCOMContent.ini is there a typo or something? I should note both my upk and archetype are GuardVoice. Should I change that? [editline]18th February 2016[/editline] I got rid of the <> and it fixed the redscreen. But now I don't hear anything from my voicepack. [editline]18th February 2016[/editline] I get this error when opening the package from the editor too, Did I do something wrong with the voice banks? Was I supposed to save them somewhere?
Generate the soundbanks again, and then after you close the dialog box, check the new package section. There should be 15 new packages. Move whatever is inside into your main package. Generate the sound banks again.
Ending spoilers sort of. So are the aliens, specifically the Elders [sp]since they have extremely advanced dimensional technology, know of the other universe in which we defeated them? I remember one specific Ethereal, who out of the blue had a completely different voice, and was named saying something specific, something like "you can defeat us, as you have already done before, commander." I can't remember EXACTLY what he said, but it was something like that.[/sp] [sp]Makes me wonder if we have an ally within the Ethereal's, one who was attempting to act against the will of his brethren? and will perhaps allow us control over aliens in the third game, since it seems as though this emergent threat will literally destroy everything, including X-COM, so working together will be a necessity.[/sp]
And yet everyone complains that people always miss 95% shots... I think the weapon upgrades are a good way of showing just how many 5/15% shots actually hit, compared to the 95% ones that don't.
This is legit pretty much why I posted this. I've been trying to keep track how far into the red or black my landed hit chances are at. I'm only playing veteran/normal and I get the impression from my head count that I am landing wayyy more hits than I should be entitled to. Almost feels dirty.

It's like the first plot tech you research, tagged it anyway.
Ending spoilers sort of. So are the aliens, specifically the Elders [sp]multiversal, I remember one specific Ethereal saying something very specific, something like "you can defeat us, as you have already done before, commander." I can't remember EXACTLY what he said, but it was something like that.[/sp] Do they know of the [sp]other universe, the one in which X-COM defeated them?[/sp]
I think the events of Xcom EU [sp] Happened inside the commanders head while she/he was in stasis, and were transmitted to the advent network by the implant tygan removes in the intro. At first I just thought it was to improve the tactical prowess of advent units, but now im starting to think the simulation was all part of humanities selection for the AVATAR initiative[/sp] Oh man :ninja:

Recall the plot point that the Commander had been playing war games for the last 20 years.[/sp] [sp]I'm hoping their TFTD premise is that the psi energy leaking from the crevice is mutating sea creatures and some small element of Elders is holed up deep in the ocean are using them to try to reestablish ADVENT. Sadly since it seems we killed all the Elders it would be awkward to bring them back as the antagonists again.[/sp]
XCOM 2 made me appreciate grenades a whole lot more than I did in XCOM 1. Grenade spam is the best way to clear out filthy xenos scum.
Also I updated my post to be a bit more coherent with another idea I had. :cat:
Ending spoilers sort of. I wouldn't be surprised if the next XCOM literally has us getting possessed or ultimately contacting Ethereals for something big, especially given that the message guy is dead now.[/sp]

One doesn't "talk" or "contact" the ayy's, unless by "talking" and "contacting" one means "exchange of heavy ordnance".
[sp]plus alien units man, with perhaps more in depth progression systems for said units, yes please[/sp]
I'd actually prefer more types of "human" units first. Aliens can wait, give me MECs, drones, SHIVs and Russian gopniks.
I wouldn't mind sectoid hybrids like in Apocalypse, or if Gremlins were pumped into Mec bodies. I wouldn't mind an Apocalypse/[sp]TFTD[/sp] hybrid sequel. [sp]Maybe after the fall of ADVENT, the various regions form their own smaller nation states, contributing to XCOM as a sort of global security/police force. This would setup the "sponsor" system that Apocalypse had. You can even have alien sympathizers/ex-ADVENT form a new EXALT/Cult of Sirius. Then the new thing be securing "psi-veins" (the purple energy crevice) around the world while perhaps Elder remnants try and support the sympathizers and proceed forward with the avatar project.[/sp]
[sp]If Bureau is canon then the Commander is actually a rogue Ethereal in a human host, explaining why the commander is so psionically capable. This would also explain why the Ethereals tell you to "return to them", and call you "betrayer" in the final mission.[/sp]

Man, imagine how fucked a mission would go if a full-specced Psi-Op got brainsucked. Worse yet, if they aren't killed before that mission's over, they return to fuck your shit up more in later missions. (On a lighter and less cruel note though, there was a mod-unit idea I had been throwing around of a Pectoid Commander which uses Dominate on a unit and flees towards other pods in the Fog of War immediately if he succeeds, with mind control obviously being lifted if he's dealt with.)
I wan't to finish the game so I can click all those spoilers. [editline]19th February 2016[/editline] Also I can't wait for mods that add new ayys.
That's it, I'm done. This game just pisses me off every time I try to play it. Every time I load a save, my memory usage jumps to 99% and just sticks there, for no reason what so ever, and at the same time CPU usage is like 12%, and that's mostly stuff Windows is running in the background. This game technically/visually is nothing to write home about, that's Unreal engine for fucks' sake. I don't know what causes it to be so incompatible with my PC, but until they roll our some proper optimization I'm done.

Beacon, make it happen.
Does anyone else get a horrible delay with multiplayer? Spent a game with a friend, it took us 3 fucking hours cause for some dumb ass reason it took just over 2 mins from my friend making his final move, to it showing his very first of that turn. (Had a timer and him telling me when he ended and what moved first) And then after his final move, took 3-4 mins to actually register his turn had ended and pass it over to my turn... [editline]19th February 2016[/editline] Started off as just a few seconds and got worse and worse as the match went on.
Yeah the delay is terrible, I mostly get between 15-30 seconds.

I have the SMG Pack installed, but I don't see when I would use them, the lower damage seems like too much of a downside.
I have the SMG Pack installed, but I don't see when I would use them, the lower damage seems like too much of a downside.
Sometimes the added movement range can be helpful, I never really researched them until Plasma though. Put one on my Psi-trooper mixed with the wraith suit, since she mostly uses her powers to deal damage anyway, with the added benefit that I can maneuver her and in essence her powers around a bit better, her powers are her main weapon, the SMG is just a side grade.
