Bought the game recently, hope those infamous timers won't stop me from enjoying the game. It really sounds like a big deal and it probably is for a lot of people. Rushing isn't really my type of strategy. Although I heard there are some mods that remove the timers. Still I'd rather enjoy the vanilla game.

There's enough time most of the time. If you won't like it, just install the mod that extends the timers by a couple extra turns - I use that mod and it's just right for me.

XCOM originally stood for "Xtremely Competitive Octopus Market" but what he didn't realize was Advent had already built a fish factory in Novosibirsk to sell Nintendo Station 3's to South American bus drivers.

Honestly, it just feels awful to lose a mission that you executed perfectly and only lost because of one turn. In a mission where I had to destroy a relay, I set up an awesome ambush and only lost by one round because I needed one more shot at that thing. Then in the next mission where I'm supposed to extract a person, I got three guys next to the evac point but I lost them all because of one turn. It just feels extremely awful.
So completed the game now, my medic 'Fixer' died at very end but he was bleeding out so I guess we saved him at the end? :v: And one weird graphical glitch happened, linked it for spoilers. I know a lot of XCOM players hate that mod but it has made the game infinitely more enjoyable for myself.

IMO Timers shouldn't straight up end the mission, they should spawn a bunch of reinforcement nodes or something & make the mission a lot harder. Right now as it stands, even if they make contextual sense and are meant to keep you from overwatch spamming, they're just extremely annoying and actively limit enjoying the game.
