XCOM V4: "Svinnik - Why is Shen's daughter asian, when Shen is black?"

Oh god why did I click the first spoiler; I'm still going through enemy within for the first time. God xcom 2 looks crazy awesome
That first spoiler isn't even accurate. [sp]EU/EW wasn't a simulation, they used the commander to run simulations after the first game's campaign failed hard.[/sp]

The Spoilers: XCOM Reclassified
Reviews are out
-Reviews-
I'm interested in what Giant Bomb has to say. They're pretty much the only reviews I trust nowadays.
Not that it matters, I already pre-ordered :v:
Wow, that much black ink is just like when MGSV hit the shelves.
I love the subtle banepsosting in Beagle's titles for his vids

Fitting.
Fitting.
Well I mean, the OP is like something out of CSI: Mayyami
So, reviews are out now and looking good, what I've seen from TB's and Beaglerush's initial previews looked great, and I really enjoyed XCOM:EU and EW. Excited to get my hands on XCOM2 ASAP.
But before I do, I thought I'd check here whether there's something you guys know about that's currently flying under the radar. Idk, maybe some recent development struggles that may affect the later parts of the game nobody has reviewed/showcased for example.
Don't see why you spoiler tagged the reviews, there aren't any spoilers there
People are weird with spoilers. There was a guy in the witcher 3 thread who got really mad that I hinted at a joke geralt makes about one of his friends having sex with sorceresses and there was a guy in the LMAO pics thread that lost his shit because someone posted a gif of GTAV where Franklin randomly throws a punch because "I wanted to to go in blind"

You could just not preorder and wait for release.
I don't get the reviews, they mention difficulty like it's a negative thing. Sure it's frustrating that it's RNG and not so much skill based, but it's not like it's worth substracting 2 points from the review purely because of that.

Reviewers only praise difficulty when they think it's trendy. They called Demon's Souls unfair but they called Dark Souls challenging, I doubt most of them played long enough to even understand the differences in difficulty those games have.

Frame freezing.. Hmm, doesn't sound good. I noticed the same thing in NorthernLion's Youtube videos showcasing the game. NorthernLion himself didn't comment on his freezing at all, though.
Here's hoping they'll smooth that one out.
Plus sometimes the camera placement was inside/behind walls and such in cinematic view, but I imagine it's pretty hard to make a "smart" cinematic camera that avoids obstructed spots. Happened in XCOM:EU/EW too sometimes.
I just now got a look at the Psionic Ranks, those are so spot on

"I missed a 95% shot, seriously?"
Does that man not know how percentages or odds work?
"I missed a 95% shot, seriously?"
Does that man not know how percentages or odds work?
Most people don't, they're really bad at working out odds and statistics.
Most people don't, they're really bad at working out odds and statistics.
But how can someone be THAT dense to not understand 95% chance to hit leaves a 5% margin for it to miss?
[editline]1st February 2016[/editline]
Now if he missed a 100% shot I'd understand his complaint. (Me and CGNick have learned that one the hard way. CGNick 3 times in a row infact if I recall correctly.)
Most people don't, they're really bad at working out odds and statistics.
You dont even really need to know how to work out percentages or understand odds and chance though, all you need to know is that 95% isn't 100% and isn't guaranteed hit. That's not rocket science.
There ARE four weapon tiers, it seems: There's regular, Magnetic, and I just spotted Gauss in Beagle's stream, and I assume Plasma comes after.
[editline]1st February 2016[/editline]
And weapons do have to be built, although it's weapon types instead of individual guns.
Gauss is just heavy Magnetic like snipers and miniguns
Gauss is just heavy Magnetic like snipers and miniguns
Well that's disappointing
Also, the technology gap between Magnetic and Plasma feels far too huge.
Not really, plasma is charged particles, the firing mechanism for them is probably magnetic too, railguns would be a intermediate stage where XCOM has figured out how to launch shit with magnets but not how to generate plasma, so they just stick with bullets at that point.
Aye, was gonna say. Railgun is just conventional projectiles in a sense propelled at absurd speeds via magnetic propulsion, and Plasma would be superheated/molten energy/matter?
Pulling shit out of sci-fi one could make the assumption that a plasma rifle would have similarities to magnetic propulsion weapons. The difficult part is getting the plasma rifle to actually make plasma, but firing it and containing it would likely require some form of containment, and you can just look at what we know about stars which are essentially massive balls of plasma to know that electromagnetic forces do a good job of containing it.
