XCOM V4: "Svinnik - Why is Shen's daughter asian, when Shen is black?"

Oh man, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones because it seems like everyone is having problems with the game right now.
My only problem is how bullshit some of the randomly generated maps are, and how short the timers are on missions. At least that can be fixed via ini edit.
I'm finding this a lot harder than enemy Unknown I have to say.
Like absolute minimum settings, can't even get fucking 20 fps steadily

What specs do you have? Do you play the game with vsync on or off? As well as windowed mode?
That increased the FPS for me substantially.
God damn I'm playing on commander and getting my ass kicked. Fucking stun lancers, can't be one shot with my equipment but unless you kill them the turn their pod shows up you're fucked since they can run AND attack.
Also fuck sneks since they can use their tongue move and if they miss they poison. How does missing with their tongue not end their move???
Thinking I might lower the difficulty.
absolutely adore the salt in this thread

Wow, I am not enjoying this at all. If I hadn't bought it through that CDkeys website I think I would get a refund.
Why can Sectoids just constantly resurrect people into zombies, panic spam and then mind control? Pretty much as soon as I engage them I just lose control of all my troops and fail the mission.
Can anybody help me out? When I try to start my game the launcher comes up, but when I hit play the .exe will start, steam will show that I'm in game, and then the XCOM application will quietly die without any form of error message. I did manage to get this from the event viewer, though.
Please, I need to get my XCOM fix.
you need service pack 1 for this game to run the MSCVR120.DLL

Shit, okay, at least I know why now. I'll have to deal with that issue in the morning, unfortunately.

That's how I thought but I stuck with it. Now I might lose, since I'm 2 away from PROJUCT AVATER whatever it may be.
That said, though, Shapshooters with the mag pistol are a fucking force to be reckoned with. I had 2 with Lightning Hands and the Pistol shot is only one action with mag pistols and they literally kill everything. Just added some Dragon munitions to go with that and oh my god I'm doing so much damage per turn.
100% Hit Rate from a mission. Fucking. Yes.
Welp, was looking forward to this but then Steam got fucked up.
Wooo.
I've put in 2 hours of XCOM 2, AND IT'S JUST BEEN THE CHARACTER POOL I LOVE IT.

You mean the problems people are having with the game not running right?
You need to read up the word 'salt'.
Melee is so broken.
You can just charge a quarter across the map and one shot shit.
The new Pectoids are brutal, holy shit. I just lost two men on a VIP mission due to mind control. We're about a turn and a half away from the EVAC point, I had the VIP sticking close. Suddenly a Pectoid paths into us and activates, he mind-controls one of my rangers who immediately guns down my other Ranger, killing him in cold blood. I'd hoped to destroy the Pectoid from the EVAC point but it was hidden, so I had to fall back from the traitor in our midst. As the VIP moves to the EVAC point, he triggers the traitors Overwatch through two walls, a fountain and a floor and gets chunked for 4 damage. Threw a grenade over the edge in the hope of getting a sectoid, got an Advent Trooper instead. Lost both my rangers though, shit sucks.
Alright, sure. I ended up accidental changing to "First" under beta, hoping I could fix the game's launcher problem.
IT DELETED THE ENTIRE INSTALLATION. AND NOW I HAVE TO REDOWNLOAD THE 22 GIGS OF THE GAME AGAIN.
God fucking damn it, Steam!
[editline]5th February 2016[/editline]
Fuck it, going to college tomorrow to redownload the game again.
So is my game broken? Advent troopers can see through and shoot through walls as if they don't exist. I had a guy run directly underneath one of my soldiers where they don't have LOS and they still managed to land a shot on them.
Through the floor.
Of a goddamned house.

A lot of shit seems to be broken.
I've had my guys killed through roofs by Advent soldiers, I've had the snakes pull my troops through walls and even an entire train. Then the stun baton troops can just run all the way across the map and one shot all your rookies.
I finished building the proving grounds, but when I try to go to the build queue there's a large black box blocking 75% of the screen over the room the menu is located in.
Anyone know the face Beagle uses for his character?
I'm stuck on the 2nd mission because my soldiers insist on trying to hit targets they can't actually see, so the animation freezes when they try to take the shot
Meanwhile Advent can make those shots just fine. It seems that it is just half of the assets don't have any form of targeting collision or something.
It feels as if this wasn't tested before release, IMO.
Advent soldiers seem to have a near 100% hit rate.
Thankfully I haven't run into any glaring bugs like some of y'all are. I'm also finding pectoids to be the least outright threatening enemy- they can get terrifying if they have turns to set up with mind control or reanimate, but that setup time is time to plan a murder of it.
Also encountering my first [sp]Faceless[/sp] spooked the shit out of me because [sp]I'd forgotten that 'infiltrates civilian populations' included the dudes you have to rescue in retaliation missions.[/sp]
explain
It feels like they wanted it to be the long war out of the box.
The difficulty of missions in Enemy Unknown progressively went from fair to bullshit as you played the game and by the time you got to really bullshit missions you'd typically have the equipment and units to deal with it or manage the RNG.
In this, the first two missions you get have countdowns (which the game gleefully abuses throughout, according to a lot of reviews), throw needlessly tough enemies at you and are designed to act as meat grinders right off the bat. If that's how the game handles the very beginning, I don't want to bother with anything past that point, because it'll only get worse.
The game also lacks a lot of clarity and elegance in design. The UI has virtually no improvements over EU and may have even gotten worse in a few places, something that isn't acceptable when the game is based on the exact same framework. Partly because of the controls and in great part because of the shitty camera, doing even the most menial task feels like an absolute chore.
People, dont be like me, Save your characters to the pool before going on a mission.
Rip, Ghost, who ruled-of-natured a Pectoid and took three shots to the face.

The Sectoids are just there to fuck you up for that reason on the first two missions. It wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't two or more on some of them. The fact that they can just panic your troops and your rookies have no resist to it, combined with the fact that they can resurrect zombies that are tougher than the Advent soldiers that they normally come from. Then on top of all that, they can just straight up mind control your characters, and as I previously mentioned, none of your characters are going to have resistances to this yet makes them near impossible to deal with unless you can ambush both of them at the same time.
Then you still have to worry about the near instant reinforcement, absurd melee troops and short mission timers.
I think having watched a lot of Beagle helped soften the blow of playing on Commander.
Though there's no way in hell I'm playing Ironman without a full playthrough first.
Anyway, here's the character I've submitted to the FP pool:

I got a rookie who was born on 9/11 2001 :v:
Anyone else using the smg mod? I cant tell if the -1 damage and ammo is worth 3 movement tiles

I am indeed ready for the character pool. Though I was too lazy to write a biography, which the game decided to circumvent by claiming my dude joined some UK resistance group called the "Warriors".
What's the difference between rookie and random class when making a character in the editor?
