It showed me 98% when it was decoding the preloaded files. All I did was to initiate the launch of the game and waited for the progress bar to finish:v:
What the fuck, isn't it possible to start the first mission with your own characters? Even if they're in the pool they never show up in the first mission!

Cause you've probably not adjusted the configs to use only the character pool. By default it's a mix of Character pool and Randomly created.
Characters all ready to go, forgot to write a stereotypical bio about Australian spiders but im sure its a given.

Anyone else having issues where the roof and walls dont fade out when your units are inside, I basically cant proceed with the [sp] black site [/sp] mission because I have to use the roof window to order my guys....
Also - dont know whats going on but my guys are consistently waiting for a lancer to attack before triggering their overwatch, as in he can run right past them and attack someone and THEN they fire the overwatch shots.

In there, Ctrl+F and search for Character. You'll see 2 lines:
InitialSoldiersCharacterPoolSelectionMode=eCPSM_Mixed
RewardUnitCharacterPoolSelectionMode=eCPSM_Mixed
Change those to:
InitialSoldiersCharacterPoolSelectionMode=eCPSM_PoolOnly
RewardUnitCharacterPoolSelectionMode=eCPSM_PoolOnly

That's what we're doing already. If you have a character, just PM him to me. Right now I'm collecting people's pools and later I'm going to combine it into a single file everyone can use.
I don't understand the design choices of the lancer. From the ten missions I've done so far there doesn't seem to be any counters. Cover, distance, and usually overwatch doesn't faze them
One is an annoyance, but two is anti-fun because unless every shot on your turn hits then at least one is guaranteed to reach and guarantee a KO

Doesn't seem to change anything. I've restarted a new game like 4 times and I think maybe once I've seen one of the three characters I've made.

Just wait untill you fight units that use explosives.
Oh are you on that roof all the way at the back of the fight? lolk here have a rocket and die from the fall damage.
Like verticality has gone from being something you always look for to something thats -always- there but is a huge risk all the time.
Is it worth skipping magnetic weapons in favor of guass? I just researched magnetic weapons but now I could research guass in 8 days. Is it a straight upgrade?
Edit: Think I figured it out, Guass weapons are the more advanced version of magnetic weapons(aka the LMG and Sniper Rifle).

on a side note, the .ini is great for tweaking things including the time limits on certain things, hp for enemies etc.
for example i nerfed the stunlancers by halving their mobility and halving their hp. FUCK THEM!!
They really need to work on optimizations. Even disabling some of the big performance hitters it still dips below 60.

The second someone makes a mod that stops the Codex from cloning [I]during the player turn[/I] I am downloading that shit so hard. I thought it was an immensely fun thing to fight until it started spawning clones in flanking positions after all my team's actions had been spent and THEN had the alien turn happened. This happened with irritating frequency
