God dammit, I just want to start my fucking campaign with my own characters but the ini file change doesn't fucking do shit.
Have you imported them all into your active character pool as well?
So, I've been downloading this on my exceedingly terrible internet for 2 days right, I still have 4 gigs left to download and what happens? Steam decides to stop actually downloading it with 4 gigs left, to decrypt the files from the preload! Just fucking download already so my bandwidth isn't being destroyed ALL DAY AGAIN you piece of shit.
I told the Advent to go sit in the car with bullets.
Have you imported them all into your active character pool as well?
I don't think I've had to import anything. I see my active character pool page and all the characters I want to start out with are there. [t]http://i.imgur.com/zHJwTU4.png[/t] [editline]5th February 2016[/editline] Yet maybe half the time I'll see the same single character without anyone else in my pool or none at all. [editline]5th February 2016[/editline] My ini file looks like this: [editline]5th February 2016[/editline] I can't understand why it's not even an in-game option in the first place.

If so, have you set them to rookies? Because if not, they will be experienced reward soldiers who are that particular class that you've set later in the game.
You know how in EW you could press a key to show unit info on the battlefield / items info in the armory menu? What's the key for that in XCOM 2? (Used a controller the entire time in EW)
Only thing I don't like in this so far is the amount of missions there are with time limits. It doesn't fit with my slow but safe play style.

Could the game be ignoring the ini change somehow?
Yep, all rookies and all available as soldiers. Could the game be ignoring the ini change somehow?
I'm honestly not sure, I'm doing the same things right now with what I've collected so far for the FP Char Pool, and on my campaign everyone who could spawn as a soldier did. The first 8 people were soldiers and then 1 last rookie with a random name since the char pool ran out of rookie soldiers.
Mannn. I just want to start my first mission with soldiers in my pool. I hate how it just randomizes everything and even that ini file change doesn't do anything for me. [editline]5th February 2016[/editline] The characters ARE valid, I see them from time to time in the initial four characters when I restart the campaign but I can't get it to just have all 3 characters I want at the start.
From the TB review, I heard that optimization was kinda lackluster. Anyone getting any performance hits besides a few Deployment hiccups and the like?

I just made a file for him and put him it next to the other default character pool files Also you died to a critical hit from a mech while providing overwatch during the first black site mission. And he's not even that class I specified! And in different armor and with different attitude. WHAT?
Anyone have tips for turning off certain graphical settings that make no visible difference for the better but improve performance?
Get online you fuck! I need your character file!
But I have to go to biology class! I'll figure it out when I get home now that I'm constrained by time
i had hoped i could dress up my soldiers like EXALT but i guess that was too much to hope for. instead i get fedoras

[editline]5th February 2016[/editline] With everything else maxed I get 50-60 fps but with AAx2 and Bokeh on it goes down to 30.

I just got stuck at the character edit screen when I tried to change up a guy I had in the character pool. I can't back out of the menu now.
So what bin file do I give CGNick? Is it defaultcharacterpool.bin?
Other than that game seems to prefer giving me slight variations of female Guile. [editline]5th February 2016[/editline]
So what bin file do I give CGNick? Is it defaultcharacterpool.bin?
You export your character in a new pool, call it for example mralex and export your character there. Next you send your mralexs.bin which is located in documents\my games\xcom2 (NOT IN YOUR STEAM FOLDER)
Curse you Australians!!!! I'm so jelly.
Doing vanilla first but has anyone tried any of the LWS mods yet? If so how are they?
God dammit, I just want to start the first mission with my own characters. Seems like I'll just have to power through the first mission and use the rookies in the hiring pool.
Curse you Australians!!!! I'm so jelly.
Should be out most places now?
From a little snooping around, it seems like
InitialSoldiersCharacterPoolSelectionMode RewardUnitCharacterPoolSelectionMode
don't actually control exactly which 4 characters start the first mission. I know it's possible to change it because Beaglerush did it but I have no idea how. [editline]5th February 2016[/editline] Or maybe he was just lucky as fuck?
The starter troops are all random, as far as I know. Also, when you set a class in the character pool that only means what class they will be when you recieve them as a mission reward. If they appear as rookies then it does nothing.
Yeah, this reddit thread says that too: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/44b3p4/psaecpsm_poolonly_is_not_broken_if_your_character/ But there's GOT to be an option SOMEWHERE to determine who starts where. Otherwise, that's just disappointing.
It's fun that grenades don't do damage to structures like the relay you're supposed to shoot in the first mission...not. e: this mission is infuriatingly hard for a first mission. Fuck. e2: can you not put bodies you're carrying back down? What the fuck? edit3: ahh, it was because I was burning.
Should be out most places now?
Not for 2 more hours here.
