oh boy downloading 27GB now. Probably will take a while because speed keeps jumping.

Are you in the US (flagdog)? I'm in Alabama and I've been playing since 6 this morning
I have a feeling it's because I'm playing on commander difficulty + not knowing the appropriate strategy of every encounters, but I feel like the early game is even more of a coinflip every turns since they kinda bombard you with overwhelming odds, not in too fun of a way either, I almost felt like I was back playing early access darkest dungeon when you're 110% at the mercy of rng because you can't mitigate bad luck at early game.
I think the biggest offender is the game doesn't explain to you that you should avoid "activating" more than one pod (or patrol) at a time.
The very very first missing I got my ass handed to me that way but the second time around, I only took one injury when I remembered how to deal with pods.
It's a lesson I've learned from Beagle.
I think the game'll take a lot of getting used to, but I agree with everyone that stun lancers fucking suck and I should not be prioitizing them over aliens
also fuck the faceless
Stun Lancers are, in fact, the worst.
I haven't had much experience with the Faceless yet, I've seen a single one so far, and it just lumbered out towards my team, ended its movement one square away from my 6hp Assault, and then got torn to shreds during my turn
SO I just started research on [sp]the vial thingie[/sp] and I have 4 bars left on the avatar project, how fucked am I? I feel like I am still fairly early in the game and the clock is ticking
3 hours played, spent 2 on the character pool :v:
Game is pretty fun so far, the first mission was pretty hard and annoying for a first mission imo
Is it just me being rusty as fuck, or is commander really hard?
Fucking Stun Lancer are so fucking cheap it's not even funny.
I fail to see fair challenge in that.
So is it possible to entirely stealth a mission?
I understand why timelimits are there, from a gameplay perspective. I get it.
Doesn't mean I like them though. Just had to leave my sniper behind on an extraction mission because they were one tile away. It's not like we were in a rush, what with the whole map clear. But it is kind of frustrating.

until you miss that 99% shot on that mech and you hear "ayy lmao"
on a side note, the .ini is great for tweaking things including the time limits on certain things, hp for enemies etc.
for example i nerfed the stunlancers by halving their mobility and halving their hp. FUCK THEM!!
Which .ini file is that?

You're soldiers might no have been in a rush but the SkyRanger is. "Hostile Interceptors are inbound on your position."
Somehow this game convinced me that 32% hit chance is way better than anything more than 50% and less than 90%.

Okay, I need your help to nerf those antifun stuns
I've been searching through .ini's but can't seem to find the right one
Point me in the right direction will you pls?

On that particular count, I agree, but I'm in the middle of a rescue mission where I have a magical 12 turns until I'm forced to retreat. Like, what? Nobody knows I'm here yet. There shouldn't be a timer on every mission.

You can change their stats in .ini if it's actually THAT bad by the way.

This may be useful as well http://www.pcgamer.com/xcom-2-guide/

Kinda wish that some stuff like medkits were available for mission 1. Can't tell me we had to capture an alien spaceship and then find a reactor to power it just to be able to make a first aid kit :s
Probably wouldn't have lost anyone then. Also since everyone was injured (pretty sure there's no way of doing the mission without people being injured) it means that the guys that I actually have with useful specialist roles are now out for the count so I have to do the next mission with rookies too.
Also are those 2 generic people you get in gatecrasher supposed to die or do they just die if you do the tutorial? If someone was trying to do a no deaths run..good luck. At least on commander difficulty anyway.

Because tutorial.
Because tutorial.
Because Enemy Unknown did that as well.
Man, this game is kicking my ass already. 3 missions in, failed 2 of them, lost 4 people. Either I'm really bad at this or the game is a lot more difficult than the last one.
And I'm over here, playing on Veteran difficulty while all y'all are struggling :vs:

There's struggling and then there's having my shit pushed in! :C
There any edits I can do to change a soldier's class?
So, redownload is done, but the problem persists. And it appears that a LOT of other people have the damn launcher crash on them as well. Wonderful.

It's pretty tough at the beginning but it gets far better once you get new weapons and some leveled soldiers.
You're probably still learning too, i myself got a squad wipe because i stacked up all of my guys on a roof and kinda forgot about the whole grenade from officers thing, it was the funniest shit.
Stun lancers are so much worse than enemies with actual guns, you can't one shot them with ballistics
Everyone's making badass characters for the pool and here I am with this shmuck. :v:

XCOM 2 really did take up LW shenanigans, Gotta enjoy getting crit by an officer trough full cover, while hunkered and gremlin droned.
What settings are most taxing on the system?
I have a 980 GTX and get some fps drops here and there
