XCOM V4: "Svinnik - Why is Shen's daughter asian, when Shen is black?"

Honestly there's nothing wrong with it, it really depends on what type of map is generated for you (obviously fixed missions are easier to cheese) because I've only had one scenario where total stealth was an option.
Usually I get missions where I need to eliminate all enemies, so I never really get a chance to try it out. Glad to hear it's viable though.
Concealment seems kinda ridiculous. [sp]I was able to sneak into an alien facility and plant a bomb without getting spotted. You can also just place the evac point right where all your troops are so you're out of there in two turns or less.[/sp]
That's cool and all, but consider that you didn't get any loot or corpses from that mission. Or experience from kills.
I think we need a new operation names guy

You can tell Frank is just hitting random at his deskjob about the reports for these missions.
That's cool and all, but consider that you didn't get any loot or corpses from that mission. Or experience from kills.
You don't get corpses from evac missions anyway.
I'm not sure, but I don't think that's difficulty since there's separate _Diff_ templates for each difficulty.
Thanks. The _Diff_ is much easier to edit than the base stuff, and more importantly it actually applies to the game
Before release, would this thread have believed me if I said that chryssalids have a lower mobility than the faceless?
That's cool and all, but consider that you didn't get any loot or corpses from that mission. Or experience from kills.
I still killed 7 enemies before evacuating. Plenty enough xp.
About to test my lancer edits (and various enemy dampening across the board) for Veteran.
Basically, lancer now has regular soldier mobility and health but one armor. His anti TR-8R stunstick does one regular damage always BUT later in the campaign it gains pierce and does some wicked crit damage. My headcanon says "zaps your heart or something". Now that it's actually possible to keep your distance, you should be.
How the hell do I activate the waypoint system?
How the hell do I activate the waypoint system?
Hold control while you click where you want to go.
So I found a solution to get 4 characters of my choice to start the first mission.
Kinda.
It however makes it so that I can't recruit anyone for the first month
From this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/44b3y0/is_it_possible_to_choose_exactly_which_4/czov53j
This is only part of the solution.
I've been able to insure that my characters are taken from my pool in all cases by making the following changes:
InitialSoldiersCharacterPoolSelectionMode=eCPSM_PoolOnly
RewardUnitCharacterPoolSelectionMode=eCPSM_PoolOnly
RecruitsCharacterPoolSelectionMode=eCPSM_PoolOnly
XComHeadquarters_NumToRemoveFromSoldierDeck=10
NumToRemoveFromSoldierDeck=10
The logic behind the last changes two changes seems to be that the game takes the initial number of soldiers from the value of:
"StartingNumRecruits[0]=10 ;Easy
StartingNumRecruits[1]=10 ;Normal
StartingNumRecruits[2]=10 ;Classic
StartingNumRecruits[3]=10 ;Impossible"
Thus you need to change them to 10 to match that number. Otherwise you are only going to take the default 3 from your pool to start, leaving you with 7 randoms in your starting soldiers.
Caveat: I have not tested this extensively to be 100% sure. So to answer OP it would be my guess that if you changed the StartingNumRecruits to 4, and NumberToRemoveFromSoldierDeck to 4 you could be sure exactly which character you have to start. Though you would not start with any other recruits.
Edit: On further testing I'm still getting some randoms in my starting recruitment options.
Edit: OK after further testing...
If you want to settle this once and for all just set:
StartingNumRecruits[0]=0 for all difficulties
XComHeadquarters_NumToRemoveFromSoldierDeck=0
NumToRemoveFromSoldierDeck=0
And then make sure the other 3 are set to PoolOnly. This is guaranteed to make it so your starting and all recruitable soldiers are from your pool. The only downside is that you won't have any soldiers to recruit in the first month.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to make it so my HQ will always be in East North America. :rollout:
One of my soldiers got molested by 2 vipers in a mission and became 'shaken' after the mission was over
:qsex101:
Im going to be straight up with you guys, playing on commander is actually making me question my ability to xcom.
my guys keep getting 1 shot from hard cover 3 stories above enemies :cry:
Last mission I lost my sniper who was on a raised highway to a mind controlled rookie who was underneath him and on the other side of the highway with no direct vision, said rookie hadn't landed a single shot all game...
Heh, having a nearly maxed out psi operatives gives you so many options to do on a turn that have literally 15 of them.

Gonna put that rather funny-looking ski mask on all my troops.
I guess the stats are bugged? I just had a 100% successful shot percentage mission but I know for a fact that a sniper missed a shot.
I guess the stats are bugged? I just had a 100% successful shot percentage mission but I know for a fact that a sniper missed a shot.
100% shots are sometimes rounded to 100% so you could have had a 99.6% shot
edit: oh in a mission? could be bugged I guess
Overall I feel like there's a lot less RNG fuckery compared to the previous XCOM, I've had my share of failures but usually it felt it was partially my fault instead of the stupid amount of full cover crits I used to get
Anyway, at what percentage is it generally better to use overwatch instead of shooting?
can we get some exalt mods because they fit the game perfectly well in EU/EW. as standalone enemies not so much but with aliens they become a mysterious and cool second enemy force to deal with
Hmm, is there anyway to actually swap out what soldiers are in the squad ready to deployed for the next mission? I'm not seeing it. Or do I not get a choice?
Nevermind it's the 'remove' button. Not so intuitive, thought it was related to the weapon they were carrying

She took a codex overwatch round in the back so my rookie carrying the vip could run to the extraction point.
Rest in peace, big sleep.

Hey, I have a problem, in the game character voicelines don't play, however everything else does, (i.e background, weapons, sound effects).
Anyone have an idea why this is? It's taking away from me actually trying the game, as I'm not really wanting to hear nothing but silence whenever a character says something.
Cutscenes also have the voicelines be extremely quiet, so I can barely hear what they are saying.
This also happens with XCOM EW as well.
My computer specs are:
Windows 10 64-bit
Intel Core i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz
AMD Raedon R9 380 Series
I also have Sound Blaster Audigy FX.
Anyone know how to fix it?
I want Wolfenstein The New Order mod...
Would be nice to kill some nazis and take back the world.
I just got hit and run for a sniper. What the fuck am I supposed to do with this game?
Literally just dicking around with the character bios all day.

This is a new one. The game is telling me that I have an 89% chance to hit as well as 49%.

I actually recruited a Ukranian with that ski mask.
He proceeded to be one of my best Specialists after he, like the crazy Slav he is, stood his ground in the open and killed a sectoid after it tried to panic him.

Not really spoiler since they showed off Mutons.
I hope someone makes a mod that adds a engineer like class that can build cover and turrets maybe lay mines to.
